Spa day alone

Bluehead · 10/02/2026 06:50

Would you?

I think it sounds like heaven. A massage and facial, a sauna, hydrotherapy pool, sitting on a heated recliner in a dark room with no expectations from anyone else. Just time dedicated to relaxing.

My friend thinks it’s weird and going to the spa is something you do with friends and would be boring alone. She says just book a massage somewhere else rather than the spa if I want one.

Is it weird to go alone?

Not unreasonable at all. I can't see how your friend thinks it weird?

I have done spa weekends on my own and loved it!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 10/02/2026 06:52

Sounds like my perfect day

Ikeameatballs · 10/02/2026 06:53

I’ve done spa days alone, bloody lovely!

Cupcakegirl13 · 10/02/2026 06:53

I do it once a year and it’s my favourite day of the year ! Pure bliss.

ChasingTheDuck · 10/02/2026 06:54

Ive done spa days alone. Totally lush. I can read when I want, doze on heated beds without worrying about anyone else etc. it's amazing.

LlynTegid · 10/02/2026 06:55

I've been to saunas alone whilst on holiday or visiting friends. The latter often whilst they are at work during the day.

weewillywink · 10/02/2026 06:55

Sounds great. So sad if you can’t be on your own without someone entertaining you. That’s boring

LoveWine123 · 10/02/2026 06:55

Sounds like your friend is too self-conscious to enjoy a spa day on her own. Go and enjoy yourself!

BusyMum47 · 10/02/2026 06:59

Sounds like heaven to me! I wouldn't have a problem with it at all - I'd take a book & just relaxxxxxxxxx!!!!

Nomnomnew · 10/02/2026 07:01

I would probably have felt a bit like your friend before I had children, but now I have small kids it sounds absolutely blissful. I’d love to chill out and read a book all afternoon with no one needing/ bothering me, chuck in a massage and a swimming pool and I’d be in heaven.

Nomedshere · 10/02/2026 07:03

I'm going to Rudding Park tomorrow on my own for a day. 2 books packed, not planning to speak to anyone.
Not odd at all

Bearbookagainandagain · 10/02/2026 07:05

I go once or twice a year for the entire day, it's amazing! I have been with friends too but it's completely different on your own.

I'm not sure I would have tried the first time if it wasn't for the circumstances though (got a voucher and was new to the city at the time so didn't know anyone to go with me). So I can understand their reaction.

Nugg · 10/02/2026 07:05

Yes absolutely I had vouchers so I’m about to!! Enjoy

WelcometomyUnderworld · 10/02/2026 07:05

I’ve done many spa days on my own.

I actually think spa days with friends are weirder, the point is to switch off and relax, and they’re quite quiet places so all much easier to do on your own.

YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan · 10/02/2026 07:07

My friend has a season pass to a spa. She goes alone a couple of times of week and just chills out in the pools, sauna etc., and relaxes. I'm a bit jealous of her to be honest!

Latenightreader · 10/02/2026 07:11

Blissful on your own.

Does your friend also find it strange when people go to the theatre or cinema solo? Some people were really shocked that I do this.

chunkyBoo · 10/02/2026 07:20

Yep! I much prefer to go alone, perfect day!

rubyslippers · 10/02/2026 07:22

A two day solo spas break was one of the best things I ever did for myself
was absolute bliss
go for it

lemondropsandchimneytops · 10/02/2026 07:22

We were staying at an fab spa hotel and it was a choice of either go to the spa alone while husband looked after toddler, or not go at all. I went. Was lush. Would recommend.

Lurkingandlearning · 10/02/2026 07:23

Not weird at all. Thinking people are weird just because they are different to you, is weird. Your friend is a wierdo.

DappledThings · 10/02/2026 07:25

You can add it to the list of many things that are completely normal to do alone and the only weird one is the person who thinks it is weird or at all noteworthy to do any of these things solo. This includes eating out, going to the pub, theatre, cinema or on holiday.

Bluehead · 10/02/2026 07:45

Thanks everyone.
I think she just thinks it would be more fun with others. I’m not actually looking for fun 😆 I just want a bit of pampering and quiet and not to have to consider anyone else’s needs!

I do it once every few months I love it

MyThreeWords · 10/02/2026 07:51

I've done a couple of spa days alone. Loved it. I don't think I would enjoy going with friends. Much less relaxing.

CherryBlossom321 · 10/02/2026 07:53

“Just book a massage somewhere else”. “No thanks, I think I’ll take advantage of all of the other facilities and enjoy the peace for a few hours!”
