Spa day alone

Bluehead · 10/02/2026 06:50

Would you?

I think it sounds like heaven. A massage and facial, a sauna, hydrotherapy pool, sitting on a heated recliner in a dark room with no expectations from anyone else. Just time dedicated to relaxing.

My friend thinks it’s weird and going to the spa is something you do with friends and would be boring alone. She says just book a massage somewhere else rather than the spa if I want one.

Is it weird to go alone?

I love doing this stuff alone. Actually prefer not having to talk and make conversation. Just do what I want. Its perfect

BlueSeagull · 10/02/2026 19:56

I would love this, take a book and properly switch off from the world…….

off to book a spa day

Squidgoals · 10/02/2026 19:56

I spent an entire weekend at Champneys on my own once it was bloody great

JLou08 · 10/02/2026 20:00

It's not weird. I've been with other people and quietly chatted so I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that but what I do find weird is groups of friends going and being very loud. It's supposed to be a place for relaxation, not a rowdy get together. Going alone sounds perfect.

carly2803 · 10/02/2026 20:19

i LOVE going alone for spa days/relaxing stuff because its supposed to be just that!
I can have a gossip and coffee with friends anytime!

MinnieMountain · 10/02/2026 20:24

It's not exactly a spa weekend, but I'm going to Baden-Baden by myself this weekend. I'm looking forward to going to the 2 spas in the town.

justaskme · 10/02/2026 21:04

Some people just aren't great at doing stuff alone. I'm like it for walking. I love going for walks, but I want company.

However...spa days, restaurants, cinemas, totally fine solo imo. In fact a solo trip to the cinema is one of my top indulgences. Shortly followed by brunch or coffee with a good book. If I had more funds spa days would be right up there.

AlleycatMarie · 10/02/2026 21:36

I’ve done spa days alone and there’s always lots of other women there on their own. My idea of heaven!

Papercompany · 10/02/2026 21:40

I would prefer to go to a Spa alone.... I've done it a few times and would love to do it again. So relaxing.

Peachsunrise · 10/02/2026 22:01

My husband gets me a spa day every year for Christmas. He bought it for me 4 years ago after I'd had a tough few months and I loved it so much I've asked for it again every year since.
I love it!
Love being totally in control of how long I spend on each area, what I do next. Think I enjoy the peace even more than the therapies.

Ilovelblue · 10/02/2026 22:31

Not only have I done a few spa days on my own but once, after my godmother died and I was given a small amount of money (I mean, in the grand scheme of things), I booked three days away in a spa all alone. I loved every second of it.

Metalhead · 10/02/2026 22:39

I’ve always done spa days on my own, great opportunity to get away from husband and kids and just read, relax and get pampered for a day!

80smonster · 10/02/2026 22:51

Sounds dreamy…

USaYwHatNow · 10/02/2026 23:25

I have done, twice. Both times from 8am-10pm. Highly recommend

covilha · 11/02/2026 01:32

I belong to a nice Gym, which is attached to a hotel that offers spa retreats.
So I always go there on my own and often chat to other ladies who are visiting the area for a break. One thing I have noticed is if I go into a coffee shop on my own people.STARE.
I if I wasn’t so beautiful, it would be bizarre 🤷‍♀️😂.
Seriously though, the staring is so uninhibited by middle-aged adults (same age as me) who should know better that it makes me want to laugh out loud. And because it is so outlandish it doesn’t affect me at all.
Mentioning it, so if you do go (and honestly I think you should) and you find folks are staring at you and you will know it is not just you.

bridgetreilly · 11/02/2026 01:38

Frankly, I wish everyone did. I hate having my lovely, relaxing days spoiled by other people making so much noise and hogging all the loungers for people who aren’t there.

Anyone recommend a nice day spa in Central/North or East London?

Be Well spa at the York Hall in Bethnal Green. I bought my Mum a couple of hours in the spa as part of her Christmas present and she really loved it.

Bluehead · 11/02/2026 06:48

Some of you are making me think I should upgrade to a spa break!

I think the restaurant part (the day includes lunch) is the only bit I’m a bit apprehensive about but I’ve eaten meals alone many times before and it’s always been fine. You always get people staring though which can be a bit off putting.

Eh?

I've been to many places including spas, restaurants and bars (I don't really go in coffee shops) alone many times and no-one stares at the people who are there by themselves.

But even if they did, it says more about them than you. They probably stare at everyone and you only notice if you think they're staring at you.

Cnidarian · 11/02/2026 07:48

People having "fun" at the spa when I'm trying to regulate my nervous system with quiet and calm are the worst. Go to lunch with wine if you want to chat, this is the only place you can go if you want quiet!

Crispychillifriedbeef · 11/02/2026 08:29

I have a monthly spa day on my own. I don’t want to go with anyone else.

Fuck other people.
Do you unapologetically.
I've done a spa withunch by myself and it was wonderful.
Have a lovely time @Bluehead and enjoy your peace

Bluehead · 10/02/2026 07:45

Thanks everyone.
I think she just thinks it would be more fun with others. I’m not actually looking for fun 😆 I just want a bit of pampering and quiet and not to have to consider anyone else’s needs!

I used to go alone all the time. I couldn’t think of anything worse if I actually went with someone as we’d be yapping all the time and I don’t go to spa days to chit chat.

i do want to try the ones that have in China though although they don’t seem very relaxing give kids can also enter, it’s more just the experience of going to a spa with unlimited food access and sleeping pods that I like the sound of 🤣

Cherryicecreamx · 11/02/2026 10:12

I always look forward to a spa day alone. I go with people sometimes but I can't relax the same as I just want to clock off and not talk to anybody 🤣

bridgetreilly · 11/02/2026 11:47

I take a book to lunch and I’ve never noticed anyone staring.
