To think I should go to minor injuries?

DH says probably nothing! I am a bit concerned myself.
These are my symptoms:
Random prodding pain in upper back
On Sunday evening, I was driving and I suddenly felt a pulsating, deep pain in the side of my lower back. This came in waves varying from uncomfortable to a sudden shock of pain which would make me groan out loud, for around 5 hours until I went to sleep. Since then, it has happened twice but only for around 15minutes at a time.
I have also been having stomach pain, almost like a burning feeling on and off.
I have felt nauseous on and off yesterday and especially today

Should I go, or will they tell me to bugger off and stop wasting their time?!

No. Not minor injuries. Go to an urgent treatment centre.

Taweofterror · 03/02/2026 16:29

You definitely should seek medical advice. I'm not sure minor injuries is the best place though. Certainly ours is literally just for injuries so you'd be sent away. I'd contact the GP for something like that.

Forenspy · 03/02/2026 16:31

Yes, an urgent treatment centre! Sorry. Just wanted to make it clear that I’m not suggesting I go to A&E!

No. As it's not an injury. It's symptoms that seemingly came out of the blue.

If it seems to be getting unbearable I'd go to a&e. Or obviously UTC better if you have one.

Catza · 03/02/2026 16:34

I think you should ring 111 so someone with appropriate training can advise you where is best to go.

It’s not unbearable right now, at the moment I’m only getting upper back prodding and some stomach pain! But I am mostly concerned about what it could be, and would like to know what to do about it before/if it gets worse! I also have anxiety so I am definitely feeling worried about it

I don’t think minor injuries is the right place as it isn’t an injury.

ShakyFridge · 03/02/2026 16:43

I mean, you need to go somewhere. It might be your gallbladder.

Maybe do a GP appointment. They may take bloods, give medication and then if that doesn't help they can refer you to gastro in hospital.

Try not to worry. It's unlikely to be anything life threatening. Take some painkillers and rub ibuprofen gel on the sore bits?

Hope you feel better soon x

GentleSheep · 03/02/2026 16:44

I'm thinking gall bladder/pancreas (not a doctor!) but you do need to be seen, not by minor injuries though.

MiddleAgedDread · 03/02/2026 16:45

our minor injuries would send you away for that because it's not from a known trauma incident.
GP as your first port of call?

Forenspy · 03/02/2026 16:46

I’m walking the dog right now, and have just had multiple shooting pains down the middle of my back! Kind of to the right side. Feeling nauseous too but am aware that could just be due to anxiety

I’d call 111

If you’re walking the dog right now it might not be an emergency but I’d still consider calling 111 to get some medical advice x

DoYouWantHalfThisSandwich · 03/02/2026 16:47

@Forenspy Pancreas can cause back & stomach pain, although that feels like someone is running a hot iron through you (Ask how I know!) Personally, I’d give 111 a call & see what they advise - they can make you an appointment with your local urgent care/treatment centre if needed. Good luck 💐

WimbyAce · 03/02/2026 16:47

GP as still open surely?

HotdogMacaroniCheese · 03/02/2026 16:48

Can you not ring the GP?

Mischance · 03/02/2026 16:49

Just talk to 111 and explain what is happening. They will direct you to the most appropriate care setting.

Natsku · 03/02/2026 16:49

I'd try and get an out of hours appointment or urgent treatment centre. If the pain worsens then a&e

BeautifulSongsofLove · 03/02/2026 16:50

FartyAnimal · 03/02/2026 16:29

No. Not minor injuries. Go to an urgent treatment centre.

and an urgent care care on the same site as an emergency department (not a standalone centre where you can't have tests you may need)

Forenspy · 03/02/2026 16:51

My GP only sees you with an appointment! I will call 111

I had very similar symptoms, it was a UTI. Call 111 for help.

Did you also have the usual burning wee sensation? I haven’t had that, so haven’t considered a UTI!

xOlive · 03/02/2026 16:52

I’d go to a GP for this. Then see where they send you, if you’ve had this all day I don’t know why you wouldn’t have called them?

PullingOutHair123 · 03/02/2026 16:54

From what you've described, I would contact the GP.
