Do friends of rich people have no shame?

NotDarkGothicMama · 01/02/2026 21:43

Reading about the Epstein files, the first thing that struck me was the awful photo of Andrew kneeling over what looks like a very young woman, looking extremely pervy.

The second thing was the emails from people like Fergie and Peter Madelson's husband asking for money. "I need 20 grand for rent, today." "I need 10 grand for an osteopath course." Have they no shame whatsoever? Surely if you're friends with a rich person, you're very careful not to mention financial needs so they don't think you're only after their cash? Let alone actually ask for handouts!

Epstein had a meteoric career. He wasn't the brightest coin in a purse so who funded him and who was he working for and why?

The shame is not asking for money but associating with someone is a pedophile and a vile abusive individual.
These powerful well known individuals who mixed with him have no morals, humanity empathy or social responsibility for mankind. That is the shame.

HighStreetOtter · 02/02/2026 07:18

I think most friends of rich people wouldn’t do this. I’m friends with someone who is a multi millionaire, like tens and tens of millions. If we get a take away I always offer money for my share. She will say no but I take the cash and offer it. I wouldn’t dream of asking her for money for anything.

peanutbuttertoasty · 01/02/2026 22:20

They are surely code words being used for something nefarious?

I was thinking blackmail when I read the OP. Is that what you mean?

Paramaribo2025 · 02/02/2026 07:25

I think a lot of them have no shame.

But the very rich are above the law so there is little or no consequences.

EasternStandard · 02/02/2026 07:27

I think if people are grasping they have no shame. One thing that struck me on a trial with people demanding money is the way they asked and the poor way to do so, spelling terrible, urgency and just the lack of it.

The messages in this reminded me of that.

Sartre · 02/02/2026 07:28

The photos of Andrew crawling on top of what to me looks like a girl rather than woman purely by her size and build are too grim to put into words.

Of course he has no shame, he did the stupid TV interview where he barefaced lied about poor Virginia Giuffre and claimed the photo of him was doctored because he can’t sweat and was in pizza express that weekend. As for his ex wife, she still hangs out with him despite divorcing like 20 years ago because she’s so desperate for status.

Also gross content about Bill Gates and Clinton. Shame on Hillary as well for continuing to stand by the letch. Kinda glad she didn’t become president, she’s no feminist and no, that doesn’t mean Trump was a better option…

plentyofsunshine · 01/02/2026 22:49

Yes beautifully put.

Epstein knew exactly what he was doing, he encouraged it.

He was secretly filming guests with the sex workers and holding that over their heads.

That is one weird photo of AMW leaning over that women. It looks like he's in a CPR training session.

I agree, about the 3 "CPR" pics. He looks like he's checking for responses. The person in question is either unconscious or pretending to be 🤔

Mama2many73 · 02/02/2026 07:34

Epstein was not stupid and he knew how to manipulate shallow people with very low (zero) morals who 100% fell for the persona and their attitudes allowed him to get away with the horrific crimes he did for so long He knew to 'collect' people and being free with money was one way.
His power, by being rich and generous had sycophants lining up to be ingratiated into his 'generous world' and totally losing their bloody sense of right/wrong.
There's no excuse for anyone to overlook what was going on and how.those.who continued to fawn over him AFTER he went to prison is beyond belief.
I would imagine that there's still a lot if info, and some very worried people waiting for their names to be linked to him. Stupidity and greed .

You’d never know from Epstein’s emails that he’s classed as some money-making super brain. I still can’t work out where his wealth came from.
And I know it’s dated but the look of the inside of his homes, they are so, so drab.
What his main job seemed to be was hooking very wealthy and powerful people so that they could indulge in what now seems to be a prevalent pastime - abuse. And it stretches beyond teenage girls to younger children now.
They are all up to their necks in it. Bill Gates, one of the wealthiest men to exist, was in these homes. Did he never notice the cameras? His poor ex wife.
I don’t think the cameras were just there for Epstein’s viewing. I think they were there for blackmail purposes, and selling information to another political leader. Small man, likes invading Ukraine.
I was brought up to support the Royals, but the whole thing turned me sick. The late Queen made a grave error paying off Virginia.
How much did she know?
To me, Andrew is just an entitled pervert. He won’t be the only one on his family, which is why he’s so angry.
Ferguson is a greedy, deluded pervert. Offering herself in marriage? Do me a favour.
I had a chat with a friend who has a psychology degree and she said it’s almost a pathology. These very rich powerful people thrive on risk and pushing boundaries.
Very few are happy with a wife/partner, or even with one and add a few side pieces.
They immerse themselves in this world of no boundaries, because their power places them above the law and rules of society.
I think it’s always been the same.
When I think back on Jimmy Saville, my stomach churns. A pal of Thatcher and the then Prince of Wales, he had access to so many vulnerable people and children.
As for Fergie saying her daughter was on a ‘shagging weekend’ it’s mad that this woman, once a Duchess, who would probably look down on the rest of us, speaks like that about her own child.
I am glad to lead a very ordinary, boring, anonymous life.

So this is the faintly pathetic part - there was an investigation into where Epstein's money came from, and it turns out, he stole it. He was always a crook.

These people are kissing up to a conman, as well as a rapist paedophile.

PersephoneParlormaid · 02/02/2026 07:47

I never understood why Mandy was employed, he’d had dodgy dealings in the past and had a reputation for many years.

PersephoneParlormaid · 02/02/2026 07:47

He loved the rich lifestyle and aspired to it. Seemingly like everyone else. Private island, free pass for whatever, beautiful people. Can see why everyone was taken in. Jeffrey was prob everyones friend. Money, friendship, contacts. No one cared about how/why/what if? He facilitated everything. Only the spoon you used when eating with the Devil wasn't long enough.

Shedeboodinia · 02/02/2026 08:00

When I was travelling I met an alderley gent who ran away to sea and then settled in Hong Kong when he was 17, after being brought up in an aristocratic household. He made his fortune by himself aftet that.
He told me lot's of stories and why he ran away. Absolutely nothing surprises me about the epstein files and all the subsequent revelations.
This guy told me aome of the most shocking and disgusting things I have ever heard and it there were many people involved and there were many children involved.

DreadPirateLucy · 02/02/2026 08:04

Glitterella · 02/02/2026 06:52

Doesn’t account for wealthy people asking for money from other wealthy people for things like rent which is what the OP is asking.

Why?

Most of the people who have asked us for money are comparatively well off - they’re not as wealthy as we are, but they’re not poor. We’ve been asked to pay private school fees when they “found themselves short” that term, to pay for the flights so we can all go stay in another well off friend’s holiday home etc etc. These are not poor people, they just want a lifestyle they can’t quite sustain, which I think is really similar to Mandy and fergie and others.

Middlechild3 · 02/02/2026 08:11

I did think Fergie was a spectacular brown noser and shameless in the way she asked for the rent money so agree OP

Walkaround · 02/02/2026 08:11

NotDarkGothicMama · 01/02/2026 23:53

Oh, I agree. This was one aspect that struck me as particularly odd and completely different to what I think of as normal behaviour. Same as if I saw one of the royals in Waitrose: pretend you hadn't noticed them and leave them be, rather than bowing and scraping and gushing all over them.

Which people are despicable and vile? As far as I can see, the only Epstein associates to have faced any consequences have been Maxwell, Andrew, Fergie and Mandelson. Andrew seems to be the one daft enough to be on the front pages. A handy distraction. Where's everyone else?! Why does no one remember anything?

I think we’re being given the sacrificial lambs.
I also think that if they were on the hook already, so would and could be blackmailed if their puppetmaster felt like it, they thought they might as well get something out of it.

Dragonflytamer · 02/02/2026 08:15

I think the question should be do friends of paedophiles have no shame.

anotherside · 02/02/2026 08:16

When is Trump going to resign?

ruethewhirl · 02/02/2026 08:18

StrangerThingsHappenRoundTheTwist · 01/02/2026 21:48

Friends ask non rich friends for help with rent etc sometimes...

Well, they shouldn't!

anotherside · 02/02/2026 08:21

The thing is we all know the sorts of things they’ve been up to, but they’ve been very careful to tie up loose ends - Epstein himself also Jean-Luc Brunel (another tragic prison “suicide”). So we’re only left with a ton of circumstantial evidence and personal accusations. I suspect others in the know, probably including some other guilty parties/staff members etc, may come out one day, maybe on their death beds. Then we will all tut tut say how awful those powerful people were but at least they’re all dead now, and how could we have elected leaders and worshipped celebrities like these, but it won’t happen again ever we’re sure about that ….

GnomeDePlume · 02/02/2026 08:26

My sixpence worth:

  • Epstein was a pervert who enjoyed corrupting others.
  • Grifters such as AMW/SF/PM had to ask for financial favours.
  • People had to ask to be invited to parties.
  • Having to ask removed deniability.
  • CIA/MI6/KGB/whoever rewarded/protected Epstein for giving them the dirt on the people he corrupted.
  • AMW was the late queen's favourite. He was being sidelined towards the end of her life but the big stripping of titles could only happen once she died.
  • AMW & SF had titles stripped because at some point they may appear in court either as witnesses or in the dock (financial dealings). Without titles they will appear in court papers as plain Mr/Mrs/Ms. The RF is playing a long game.

Andrew is obviously an absolute idiot, but he’s also a good fall guy for the whole thing. His arrogance was such that he clearly presumed being Queenie’s favourite and the the largely fawning attitude Brits/the media have toward the institution of monarchy would be sufficient to keep him safe. So he didn’t have any guard up at all. While many others were a lot smarter than him in not posing for dozens of pics while drunk or coked up or whatever he was on, and by the sounds of some of the excerpts got up to a lot worse than even Andrew.

JuliettaCaeser · 02/02/2026 08:32

If you listen to lownies book Epstein was a sophisticated blackmailer. A comment was made that Andrew was totally out of his depth and clueless it was like putting a python in with a rabbit

The amount of amnesia that seems to be affecting the people involved - insane.

Yeah, it's almost like they are just claiming to have forgotten...

Imdunfer · 02/02/2026 08:37

MsSmartShoes · 01/02/2026 22:47

Spot on - these are very transactional relationships.no one worries about losing friends because of the moral depravity, complicity in exploiting others. These are the “devils darlings” and capitalism made it possible.

Oh puhleeeze.

If you think corruption at the top of society is restricted to capitalist economies you've not been reading the right books or watching the right documentaries.
