To wonder why it’s seen that upper class people don’t eat fast food?

I always see it said that upper class people wouldn’t be seen dead in Mcdonalds etc but it’s a strange urban myth?

I am upper class and I cannot resist a Big Arch or a box of nuggets. Even more so the breakfast menu has me salivating.

So AIBU to think this is a silly urban myth?

I would never order one for privacy purposes. But when I am in the city I will indulge.

What do you work as a secretary at buckingham palace or something
This has got to be a wind-up thread Grin

My husband would never let me invite a moped driver into the property. It’s dangerous and not well regulated enough to be safe in any shape or form!

Re the OP, I don’t think anyone has given this question a second thought?!

What else would an upper class person deem themselves as?

  1. Farmer
  2. Landowner/landlord
  3. Working in family business.
  4. Lots would swear they are middle class
  5. A huge chunk would try and insist they were working class because "I've got lots of working class friends", "I worked in the village pub once", "I shagged my cleaner", "my mum went to a day school" etc.

Oh I must be upper class then because I used to work in my parents corner shop and my oldest brother took over the family business and I would say I was working class- silly me!

That’s the way to do it! I do laugh when I see people claiming the upper class only eat a small salad and fish. We do enjoy treats too!

I don't think anyone ever claims that.

u3ername · 29/01/2026 21:48

Upper class as in above other people?
It’s troubling to see pride in being ‘above’ others when many are struggling. Having more money than needed raises ethical concerns. True decency comes from how we treat others, not from inheritance.

Not derailing - just saying, no you’re not upper or lower as class is one social construct that has long lost a meaning for many of us.

ThatCyanCat · 29/01/2026 21:48

Jolly hockey sticks, what what.

I agree. And I think those of us with wealth to distribute, should absolutely do so.

I’d suggest it’s statistically highly unlikely there are so many (self described) ‘upper class’ people on this thread by page 3, given the % of the population in that bracket.

Some may be confusing wealth; all sounds a little bourgeois.

I'm Princess Anne and I love to guzzle on a MaccyDs. I send Tim to the drive thru in the Daimler 🤑

As a forriner who’s met people of every walk of life, I think the working class and upper class have more in common than people think, it’s the middle class (or people obsessed with it) that stand out here

My nan used to work at one of the colleges in Oxford, the nicest students were either proper old money types or working class, it was the middle class and new money kids who she said were rude!

Sunnydayinparadise · 29/01/2026 21:52

KC was ahead of me at the drive thru at McDs last week. I don’t know where you get you info. This sounds like left wing bias to me.

FunnyOrca · 29/01/2026 21:52

I cannot emphasise this enough, but I give zero thought to what the upper class eat. This thread is the first time I have ever considered it.

I am a Marchioness, yet I love the fully loaded fries from the van outside the Council Offices.

organisedadmin · 29/01/2026 21:57

I had no idea so many upper class people were on here either

Really? They love MNs & telling us how posh they are!

OriginalSkang · 29/01/2026 21:57

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but no one could care less about your class 🥲

MeridaBrave · 29/01/2026 21:58

I would never (more middle class). More because it’s UPFs and poor quality of ingredients.

I certainly do. I instruct my driver to park outside Gregg's and I give out bags of pennies to all and sundry.
Then back to my Castle for roast swan.

Who said you cared or had to care? It’s a post about some made up myth people say.

Just like the very factual reality that often lower class people are purposely unkind to those with more than them, because they are bitter and jealous.

And name changing so they can be who they want, without anyone asking how the move to their new council flat went and whether their benefits sanction was lifted.
