Guardian is running a live feed, and a good unbiased source is Agenda Free TV on YouTube also running live feeds from the streets there.

Obviously multiple versions of events being thrown about as it's very fresh.

Sending solidarity across the pond to any US Mumsnetters in the locale and protesting the awful actions of ICE and disregard of your constitution by the "President".

That’s truly kind of you, @MistressoftheDarkSide.
When I’ve tried to stick up for the murdered mom or the Minnesotans, on Twitter, I’ve been attacked by a swarm of magas - and. they’re. so. f**king. stupid. They try to one-up me or insult me or degrade me — they try, but fail. It works for them but not on me.
Amongst themselves they find themselves very clever — the doofuses. Kind of like the intellectual form of tying someone’s shoelaces together, if you get my drift.
They aren’t difficult to get the better of, just pesky — like gnats or mosquitoes.
It’s the ones with power who truly frighten me, like Trump and his cabinet. Their orders frighten me.
Oh - and the reason those ICE officers keep their faces covered? I’m pretty sure it’s because they’re wanted criminals. Or they’re convicted criminals - like criminals from J6, from when they attacked the Capitol and beat the police officers. And in some instances, beat the police officers to death. Inexcusable.
They’re wanted criminals. Or they should be.
I cry for my beloved country. ❤️🇺🇸

And I cry for the friendships we once had - the good, solid, enduring, warm friendships.
❤️ 🇨🇦 🇲🇽 🇬🇧 🇩🇪 🇬🇱 🇺🇦 🇩🇰 🇺🇸
If we as the USA can survive the next 3 years, it’ll be a miracle.
Please hang in there with us and remember that WE are not HIM. And that as always, we stand with you, our steadfast friends. ❤️

I feel the same.

We all know what happened when people were spouting nonsense in the immediate aftermath of the Renee shooting before the real story immersed

You mean when Kristi Noem claimed within about 15 minutes that the victim was a "domestic terrorist" who put the agent's life at risk?

Yeah, that was quickly disproven, especially when the footage from Jonathan Ross' own phone was leaked and it was indisputable that it was a cold-blooded murder.

The people there today were not protesting peacefully, but being violent and aggressive

Were they fuck. We've seen what happened, from multiple angles. This was murder. Again.

No. I was kind of meaning when posters were saying she was an innocent mum who was going to the shops and took a wrong turn. Footage then disproved that theory. And even the Mayor of Minneapolis and his side kick admitted in their speech tonight that there were protestors there today who were definitely not peaceful. That must have stuck in their throat a bit…. No-one deserves to die, but people also have to take responsibility for their own safety and keep out of the tinder point areas.

echt · 24/01/2026 23:23

Why can’t people just stay away from the area where ICE are trying to carry out their job, and not interfere with the law enforcement process?

If the ICE cunts were proper law enforcement they would not be hiding their faces.

"Agree with everything the government chooses to do. They are always right and always have your best interests at heart. Don't even think about using your constitutional rights to disagree. Remember - always show your citizenship papers when an unidentified, armed person tells you to. DO EVERYTHING THIS MASKED PERSON TELLS YOU TO DO OTHERWISE HE'LL KILL YOU. Never forget that this is what we tell you freedom is."

Keep licking that boot. It must be absolutely delicious.

Only if we let it. I’m absolutely fucking sick of this shit and if we don’t start voicing our displeasure then things roll on as they are. There’s more of us together than there is ‘rulers’, consent of the people can be withdrawn.

And this is what is happening in Minneapolis, voicing their displeasure and people getting killed. I am not sure consent carries much weight anymore but I agree, we can't just take this lying down anymore.

Because ICE are acting like the gastapp and people are standing up for what they believe is right.

First they came for…….

Quoting Nazi German history to these people doesn’t help. Because they’re not educated enough to know what actually happened to start WWII.

As the saying goes those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

but those who half-remember it repeat it while insisting it’s different this time.”

It’s horrifying to see what is happening in America today.

Itstym · 24/01/2026 23:26

Alltheyellowbirds · 24/01/2026 21:26

Yes. It’s been going on for months all over the US. They wear masks, they have no warrants or ID, they drive around in vans and scoop up anyone they suspect of being illegal and kidnap them. Relatives aren’t informed, the person doesn’t get to call home or see a lawyer, they just get sent off to a camp somewhere with no due process at all. It’s an utter violation of basic human rights and it’s mind-blowing that it’s been allowed to happen in a democratic country..

Edited

That’s terrifying. I’ve recently had a random episode of ill health where I’m now on twice daily medication for the next few months .

I wonder what would happen if someone like me was there in the U.S. and got snatched up by ICE? I doubt they are rushing to provide medical attention or letting people out to pick up their meds.

Surely people are dying under these conditions.

Are you shitting me?
We know with Renee Good that the SHS spouted a load of shite and tried to blame the victim. Thankfully the footage, and subsequent evidence shows the truth, yet there are still people denying the truth and denying it was murder.

I was scrolling today when I clicked on a link showing a man being attacked and forced to the ground while someone hit him repeatedly across the head before shots are fired and his body goes limp.

Rather than secure the crime scene, the agents on subsequent videos are seen clapping, they are seen trying to hide the truth, they take witnessed away from the scene rather than let the correct law enforcement agencies trained in how to investigate a crime scene talk to them.

The head of that department has then spewed lie upon lie out to excuse what happened.

People don't like seeing their friends, families and neighbours being taken off to camps where some have been beaten, assaulted and killed. People will protest, and people will film atrocities so that at some point, those committing them will face justice. They are doing nothing wrong.

Trying to excuse cold blooded, state sponsored murder is disgusting. Doing it by blaming the poor victim is fucking low.

Most people were peaceful. People have been protesting peacefully for months.

its hard to keep a protest peaceful when government thugs are trying to wind it up to cause chaos and justify further thuggery and crackdowns.

You know what though. At some point people might have to stop being peaceful. Sone things are important enough to fight against. I’d say this is one of them.

"No-one deserves to die but if you happen to be in the vague area where other people aren't following the rules then it's understandable that you might be 'accidentally' gunned down in the street. That's totally what happens in a healthy and functional society."

DdraigGoch · 24/01/2026 23:12

It's difficult to get footage out of a country that has shut the internet down, and that assumes that the IRGC didn't get hold of it first.

But this is the same thing anyway. The scale is very different (for now) but it's still the extrajudicial killing of people who oppose the regime. It shocks people because the US used to claim to be a democracy, "Land of the free" etc.

Perhaps you might search for a relevant thread, or perhaps start your own.

I’m perfectly entitled to post on this thread. And the situation in America is absolutely not comparable to what’s going on in Iran.

She had just returned from the school run to the place where she lived and found thugs harassing her neighbours. The regime's claims that she had been following agents around all day were blatantly false when you consider that she was murdered at 9:37am. ICE aren't going after illegal immigrants, if they were they wouldn't be in Minnesota in their thousands, they'd be in Texas and Florida. They are harassing anyone who looks a bit not-white, and any white person who tries to defend them.

Besides, getting in the way of an ICE officer is not an offence that carries the death penalty.

DdraigGoch · 24/01/2026 23:30

Terrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. They’re allowed to take only a knapsack and a little cash with them, and even then, they’re robbed of these possessions on the way. Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared. Women return from shopping to find their houses sealed, their families gone.

I doubt 77 million Americans voted for kidnapping and killing people in the street.

If you cannot see this is wrong then you're very much part of the problem.

Not focussing on Renee at all. I’m talking about the subject of this thread - the guy had a gun. He was clearly there not to peacefully protest, but to harm someone if given the opportunity. Clearly wasnt carrying a gun to defend himself as he was the aggressor in the situation. The Mayor, who is very much against ICE, even admitted that the protest today had got out of hand.
