In tears in the restaurant bathroom.. TW: Periods

I know this is probably stupid but here goes.

come out this afternoon for a really special celebratory meal with my DH and his family.

I am currently on my period, however when I woke up this morning I woke up in a pool of blood. My underwear, pyjamas, bed linen - all of it was ruined. I’m sorry this is probably TMI. I didn’t have much pain, just surprised me.

Anyway - I am currently in said restaurant and I’m really struggling. My stomach is cramping beyond belief, literally one wave after the other and I can feel ‘gushes’ (I’m sorry Blush)

I excused myself to come to the bathroom and literally cannot get off the toilet. I’ve been in here over half an hour and have text. DH to please explain to his parents I’m not feeling well.

My stomach is literally agony and I feel like I could pass out from the waves of cramps. Literally one after the other and the bleeding has gotten really heavy again.

I am on the implant so whilst I do get ‘periods’ they can sometimes be irregular / I skip them.

I am sorry this is probably TMI but I’m in so much pain I’m just doubled over and can barely move. I don’t know if this is normal or not. 😩

Sounds like polyps. Definitely needs checked out. Polyps are easily resolved. I had similar symptoms. Obviously it can be something more serious so needs checked asap.

Sorry hadn’t seen the update. Wishing you well op xxx

@OneNeatCatSorry - no, I’ve never had any period as painful and heavy as this. I do suffer with period cramps but this is next level.

Please don’t ever take double doses of ibuprofen ever!
Take 2 ibuprofen along with 2 paracetamol.
people believe that ibuprofen is harmless because it is an over the counter medication but that is simply not true!…always follow the correct dosage and always with food …..my mum once thought like you and she now has stage 4 kidney failure!

you can take double the dose BUT.. it should always be only on medical advice, not off your own back..

If you think you need a stronger dose of pain relief, always consult your dr first to make sure you're doing it safely.

Maybe she just wants some reassurance that someone else has been through this.
Maybe her Monday is runninh away with her ,,maybe she has health anxiety .
If you've got nothing helpful to add sit on your hands to stop yourself being a horror .

Hi everyone. Sorry for the radio silence.
Unfortunately, it appears to be a complication with one of my cysts.

I have had another ultrasound scan and they are almost certain one has burst.

Atleast your in the right place op ,sending positive thoughts

Nosejobnelly · 24/01/2026 19:53

Glad you’re being looked after in hospital now.

ajandjjmum · 24/01/2026 19:56

My DD has had ovarian cysts that have burst - really painful. She has PCOS. Hope you feel better soon OP now that you're being sorted.

Dontpokethebearnow · 24/01/2026 20:16

Glad to see your receiving medical care OP.
Having had several ovarian cysts rupture (once on a plane!) they are so extremely painful and can be with zero warning.
I noted in your earlier post about feeling bad for ruining the meal. You didn't ruin the meal, because you didn't do anything wrong! You were taken ill which can happen to anyone at anytime and there was no signs to pre-empt it. There will be opportunities to redo the meal. It sounds like the restaurant were understanding and helpful too with your DH.
I hope you are treated and back home quickly!

cannynotsay · 24/01/2026 20:27

Op hope this resolves quickly for you. Sounds awful 😢

I am sorry about the pain, OP!!! Take a nice hot shower and just try to relax while the period passes.

I have to admit that my period, although HEAVY, has never ever given me any cramps, or pain, headaches, nothing. Sometimes, I might have some "flu" symptoms a few days before, but then I start bleeding and the symptoms go away soon enough.

Its so weird that my periods don't anything besides mild discomfort for me. And sometimes not even that. I just wake up bleeding like a maniac lmao

Lifeomars · 24/01/2026 20:31

Glad you went to hospital, what you were/are experiencing sounded very scary and painful, women really go through some stuff courtesy of our reproductive organs. I remember having a "missed" miscarriage, having surgery for that, was recovering at home and then an ovarian cyst burst. It bloody hurt, and all this was in a matter of about 4 days. Had to go back to hospital where I was taken really good care of. Hope they are looking after you and that you start to feel better soon.

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 24/01/2026 20:33

I hope you are feeling better very soon, OP.

Stonecoldhandswarmheart · 24/01/2026 20:35

I hope you are feeling a lot more comfortable now OP. If you haven’t already been checked for endometriosis please make sure you can get a referral to see a gynaecologist to rule this out. This is the sort of thing I would regularly experience, turned out I have endo and adenomyosis. It only took 30 years to get a diagnosis 🙄

Squeakydogtoy · 24/01/2026 20:36

If you don't mind answering, how old are you?

My periods have become increasingly heavy over the last few months and I never used suffer with pains, but, my god! The last 3 periods I have been in agony!

I'm 49, so mines menopause related, maybe yours is the same?

Chocolatebunny61 · 24/01/2026 20:36

I really glad you went to hospital and got seen OP. I hope they get you treated and on the mend very soon. It must be very scary for you. Sending hugs

ManyATrueWord · 24/01/2026 20:43

@mygodd Thanks for updating. I'm glad you are safe and getting the help you need.

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 24/01/2026 20:46

You poor thing. Glad you are getting attention and they are sorting out the next steps, wishing you all the best x

RobertaFirmino · 24/01/2026 20:52

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. You've probably lost a lot of iron as well so it might be worth asking the doc if you should take some supplements in the short-term to build your resources back up.

Op has been admitted to hospital. Stop being so nasty because someone in distress has asked for advice and support as she's in a very public setting, is embarrassed and doesn't want to ruin a family meal out.

You need to get to A&E, believe me, I know.
