Women and anyone with a cervix is written in my weekly magazine. What absolute rubbish is this? It gives me the rage.

??

What does any of that have to do with acknowledging them in a way that does not erase women.

Because the original quote was presumably aimed at biological women who choose to call themselves men (or not women, anyway). Yet it’s vital that in medical settings they are treated as women.

PatchouliPrincess · 22/01/2026 18:07

Why can't they use 'biological women' if they want to be inclusive.

But they are being acknowledged in a way that does not erase women. So what’s the issue?

I got that completely wrong! I meant to say, IS a women, WAS a woman, will always BE a woman, but who wants to IDENTIFY as a man, but who knows that they aren't. Biologically. But it's up to them what they CALL themselves. Is that right?

ColinOfficeTrolley · 22/01/2026 18:09

Well it did say 'women' and every with a cervix, so I can't get mad at that 🤷

My boyfriend has a cervix. He’s a trans man.

They are including trans men. This is a good thing.

Then they should say that.

Women and trans men. Because both need smears.

That's inclusive.

Ginburee · 22/01/2026 18:10

I am the mother of a trans man and he has a cervix.
Are you posting to start yet another rage bait post?
People have cervix's and their cervix is nowt to do with you.

A trans man is a woman.

A trans man is a woman.

No one is denying that trans men are biological women.

JHound · 22/01/2026 18:07

The issue is that it’s essentially silly. And its corollary is "men and anyone with a penis", implying that some people with penises are not men but women. But the issue is also that they can call themselves whatever they like, but the rest of us shouldn’t be gaslit and forced to play along.

Ginburee · 22/01/2026 18:12

igelkott2026 · 22/01/2026 17:58

Has a transman actually ever got offended at being called a woman when they go for a smear test?

Yes.

LakieLady · 22/01/2026 18:12

BIossomtoes · 22/01/2026 17:27

I’m fine with it.

Me too!

2dogsandabudgie · 22/01/2026 18:12

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/01/2026 17:57

He.

There’s no need to be deliberately unpleasant.

You’re helping no one and achieving nothing by being transphobic.

But she's not a he. She's still a woman. Stop pandering to this nonsense.

Murriams · 22/01/2026 17:12

It really doesn't bother me, im baffled by people's rage at inclusive language

Only women can have a cervix. Who else do they need to include?

Erm, yes they are. They are several on this thread.

Ginburee · 22/01/2026 18:13

Zillyzillyzillymouse · 22/01/2026 18:11

A trans man is a woman.

In your head yes apparently so.

Isekaied · 22/01/2026 18:15

CaragianettE · 22/01/2026 17:53

Because it's an invitation to have a cervical smear....? (I'm assuming)

It was in a magazine????

Murriams · 22/01/2026 17:12

It's not inclusive. Only women have a cervix. Trying to twist oneself in knots pretending sex is a social construct is an othering exercise against women and it's particularly dangerous when it comes to sex-related healthcare.

2dogsandabudgie · 22/01/2026 18:12

I’m still responding to transphobes so my tolerance for nonsense is clearly sky high.

People can identify however they please. It’s not nonsense, it’s a preference.

Isekaied · 22/01/2026 18:16

Picklelily99 · 22/01/2026 17:53

But surely a trans man IS a woman, WAS a woman, will always BE a woman, who just wants to IDENTIFY as a woman but who knows they aren't really???

You guys are confusing me now.
No they don't want to identify as women

Ginburee · 22/01/2026 18:16

2dogsandabudgie · 22/01/2026 18:12

It is not nonsense, believe me no one actually sits down and thinks "oh, I might just change my gender today".
If you had any idea of the sheer hard work it is for the trans community then you might be able to stop clutching your pearls and look at the real world.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 22/01/2026 18:17

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/01/2026 17:21

My boyfriend has a cervix. He’s a trans man.

They are including trans men. This is a good thing.

So biologically he's female. Which is why he has a cervix

Zillyzillyzillymouse · 22/01/2026 18:17

Ginburee · 22/01/2026 18:13

In your head yes apparently so.

The only criteria to being a trans man, is to be a woman. Biological fact.

In the real world there are only two sexes. And they can’t be changed.

What mental tumoil anyone suffers does not change biological fact.
