Women and anyone with a cervix is written in my weekly magazine. What absolute rubbish is this? It gives me the rage.

OP posts:

YANBU

Well done. You must be very proud of your tolerance of others beliefs and behaviour…..

😂 How dreadful to see someone modelling reasonable behaviour!

Isekaied · 22/01/2026 17:42

Why do they have to refer to our body parts.

Why cant they refer to me without talking about vaginas cervix or uterus.

Woman it's quite simple.

MaidOfSteel · 22/01/2026 17:43

BitOutOfPractice · 22/01/2026 17:19

Do you think you could confine this sort of frothing to the appropriate topics so that I can block it. TIA

The nature of the thread was clear from the title, so why bother opening it. And replying to it.

BillieWiper · 22/01/2026 17:44

As long as it says 'women and...whatever' then it's fine I guess. If someone with a cervix is hell bent on denying they're biologically a woman then I guess it's inclusive to them. If it omitted 'women' or put them secondary to 'cervix havers' then I'd be annoyed.

GreenPoms · 22/01/2026 17:35

So, a women then?

By definition, being “trans” means wanting to be the opposite sex. Therefore, a “transman” is a female

Their sex is female, their gender is male. I reckon @TheLightSideOfTheMoon understands both the biological reality and the definition of the word trans.

GreenPoms · 22/01/2026 17:44

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/01/2026 17:41

A womAn.

There’s only one of him…

Yes, a typo.

Echobelly · 22/01/2026 17:45

JHound · 22/01/2026 17:27

Well people complained about “people with cervixes”.

So they updated it to “women…and anybody with a cervix and people are still complaining.

I don’t see the issue in keeping the original language and then adding extra words to acknowledge trans men.

Edited

Or non binary people - I prefer 'women +' language as I think given health inequalities for women one should acknowledge the vast majority of people concerned are cis women when, presumably as is the case here, taking about healthcare. Also this is only bring used in healthcare contexts. No one is expecting a restaurant manager to say 'Take those drinks to that table of women and people with cervixes over there'! 😅

MinestroneMacaroni · 22/01/2026 17:45

The word women is inclusive of ALL women. It’s exclusive of men, who don’t have a cervix so no, YANBU. Even women who don’t think they are women, are women. I don’t think we’re doing them any favours by indulging their fantasy.

BoeotianNightmare · 22/01/2026 17:45

The only people apart from women who have a cervix are girls.
Check out Milli Hill's newsletter 'The Word is Woman" for lots more rage-inducing examples of this sort of nonsense.

My boyfriend has a cervix. He’s a trans man.

They are including trans men. This is a good thing.

Trans men are women. 🤷‍♂️ HTH

JLou08 · 22/01/2026 17:47

If that gave you rage you need to work on managing your emotions.

MinestroneMacaroni · 22/01/2026 17:48

Non-binary people are either male or female FFS

Gilead · 22/01/2026 17:48

I have a male friend who has a cervix. And no, it doesn’t make him a woman. He has had top surgery but due to serious long term illness is unable to have bottom surgery.

Mydogdoesntlikeyou · 22/01/2026 17:48

Yay more trans bashing!!

This should keep you all busy for the evening, enjoy

auserna · 22/01/2026 17:49

bananafake · 22/01/2026 17:24

That’s what I think. At least women has been reinstated. I loathe people with a cervix. It’s not inclusive to exclude the word women.

I came across "people with vulvas" at a museum recently.

MinestroneMacaroni · 22/01/2026 17:51

Not trans bashing just reality. People are free to believe what they want about themselves but they can’t make the rest of their world believe they are the opposite sex. I’m sorry if that hard to hear for some of you but it’s the truth.

JHound · 22/01/2026 17:51

I guess they could write “Women and people who don’t identify as women but who have cervixes”….

But I suspect OP would have an issue with that too….

Bloozie · 22/01/2026 17:51

Women and anyone with a cervix recognises and includes everyone, without excluding or erasing women.

It is inclusive of trans men. Yes, yes - I know. Those words also offend you. Because you would substitute them for women. Because inclusion doesn't matter to you.

But it does matter to lots of people - and lots of women too.

I am happy that neither women nor trans people are being erased, that we are finding ways - tiny ways, in tiny sentences - to balance the rights of both.

tarheelbaby · 22/01/2026 17:52

Technically, cervix (pl cervices) is the Latin word for neck which is why the upper vertebrae are numbered C1 - C7.
The tube shaped entrance of the uterus (Latin for womb) is known as the cervix since it resembles a little neck (like the neck of a bottle) .

CaragianettE · 22/01/2026 17:53

Isekaied · 22/01/2026 17:42

Because it's an invitation to have a cervical smear....? (I'm assuming)

Picklelily99 · 22/01/2026 17:53

JHound · 22/01/2026 17:29

Trans men .

But surely a trans man IS a woman, WAS a woman, will always BE a woman, who just wants to IDENTIFY as a woman but who knows they aren't really???

ResusciAnnie · 22/01/2026 17:53

Cabinqueen · 22/01/2026 17:20

I had a payslip with a health message box for reminders about flu injections, covid vaccination dates etc. and about two years ago, one month was a reminder for "anyone with a cervix to get regular cervical screening tests..."

To be fair, I do understand that one. Why would a woman who’s had her cervix removed need a cervical screening?
