Women and anyone with a cervix is written in my weekly magazine. What absolute rubbish is this? It gives me the rage.

In your head yes apparently so.

And in reality tbf.

ChapmanFarm · 22/01/2026 18:18

While it irritates me a bit, I think it's reasonable.

I object to the erasure of the word woman but as long as it's front a centre I can cope with tagging on the end for circumstances like this.

I wouldn't want transmen not to access important healthcare so if spelling it out to them helps that's fine, as long as it doesn't come at the expense of other women e.g those who have English as a second language.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/01/2026 17:57

He.

There’s no need to be deliberately unpleasant.

You’re helping no one and achieving nothing by being transphobic.

Is it transphobic to not believe a person can change sex?

Vaxtable · 22/01/2026 18:19

Murriams · 22/01/2026 17:12

It really doesn't bother me, im baffled by people's rage at inclusive language

How about because only women have a cervix? Call yourself anything you want, but it’s a biological fact only women have a cervix

TheignT · 22/01/2026 18:19

Cabinqueen · 22/01/2026 17:20

I had a payslip with a health message box for reminders about flu injections, covid vaccination dates etc. and about two years ago, one month was a reminder for "anyone with a cervix to get regular cervical screening tests..."

Well that's reasonable. When I had a hysterectomy and my cervix removed I was told I didnt need cervical screening anymore. The message is only relevant to women with a cervix which was one thing off my to do list.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/01/2026 18:16

I’m still responding to transphobes so my tolerance for nonsense is clearly sky high.

People can identify however they please. It’s not nonsense, it’s a preference.

People CAN think and believe in whatever they like, you don’t however get to compel others to believe in something that isn’t true.

You can’t change sex, and accusing people of having an irrational fear of trans people for recognising material reality and using correct language is as nonsensical (seeing as you brought it up) as believing you can become the opposite sex in the first place.

nocoolnamesleft · 22/01/2026 18:20

It's an improvement. At least they mentioned women.

Travelodge · 22/01/2026 18:20

Ginburee · 22/01/2026 18:12

Yes.

In the Jennifer Melle case, the male paedophile patient was mortally offended when Ms Melle referred to him as a male even though she was discussing removing a catheter from his penis…

Is it transphobic to not believe a person can change sex?

Only if you’re hard of thinking.

Catssuddenlyappear · 22/01/2026 18:20

If you're that bothered about it, why not write to the magazine? That would be more productive than starting yet another tedious ragebaiting post

ParmaVioletTea · 22/01/2026 18:20

Hard agree, OP. YANBU.

Is it transphobic to not believe a person can change sex?

No but some people think it is because we have to be nice to everyone (except the great majority of women)

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 22/01/2026 17:21

My boyfriend has a cervix. He’s a trans man.

They are including trans men. This is a good thing.

Trans men are women, hence the "trans" prefix

But you do realise don't you that if a man identifies as a woman that he doesn't magically change into one and vice versa. If a man wears a dress or makeup I couldn't care less but I won't refer to him as a she because that is just ridiculous.

Women and anyone with a cervix is written in my weekly magazine. What absolute rubbish is this? It gives me the rage.

It should say all females who still have their cervix. I’m a woman and have no cervix since my hysterectomy so I could get called for a smear with that language. Similarly a male who thinks he’s now a woman could rock up. They need to use the word female as in sec and then even those who think they are now men will know it’s directed at them too

language really matters in healthcare and trumps feelings

MrsVBS · 22/01/2026 18:22

Completely agree, it’s biologically impossible for anyone other than a woman to have a cervix, sick to death of women being trampled over by delusional men.

lifeturnsonadime · 22/01/2026 18:22

I do think that this pandering with language needs to stop.

If a woman who identifies as a trans man needs to be addressed as a 'person with a cervix' before they go for essential healthcare for women then they clearly need to address their mental health issues.

As someone upthread said the only way you can be a trans man is by being a woman so health literature aimed at women clearly includes women who believe they are not women.

Erosion of language harms women, it is directly led to women's single sex spaces being invaded by men. That is more harmful than any hurt a woman who denies reality might feel.

What gives me rage is transphobes making constant tiresome threads like this one.

Awaiting my predictable comment deletion 🥱🙄

EarthlyNightshade · 22/01/2026 17:28

Just "women" would work.
Trans men could dip in to see if it's relevant to them, as health things could be but many things wouldn't be.

No not just women, women with a cervix. I'm still a woman but I don't have a cervix.

frecklejuice · 22/01/2026 18:24

YANBU “people” don’t have a cervix, women have a cervix.

I had a payslip with a health message box for reminders about flu injections, covid vaccination dates etc. and about two years ago, one month was a reminder for "anyone with a cervix to get regular cervical screening tests..."

To be fair, I've had a total hysterectomy and don't have a cervix so no longer need smear tests.

viques · 22/01/2026 18:25

Aluna · 22/01/2026 18:05

Why should anyone be defined by a body part?

Because some body parts do define us.

In a thousand years time when fleshed body parts have long gone your sex is identifiable in seconds just by looking at your pelvic bones. That is how important body parts are and how integral they are to defining our sex, and in this case, defining potential health issues.

There's nothing good about lying in order to include people in groups to which they categorically do not belong. It doesn't even work. Would a transman who didn't consider themselves a woman, and who had had a hysterectomy belong in this group?

PatchouliPrincess · 22/01/2026 18:26

Ginburee · 22/01/2026 18:12

Yes.

Offended by reality?

What’s tiresome is the ridiculous obfuscation of language to appease delusional individuals and their supporters. It’s not kind to lie.
