Women and anyone with a cervix

Women and anyone with a cervix is written in my weekly magazine. What absolute rubbish is this? It gives me the rage.

It is quite possible that a trans man might have retained a cervix. The numbers of course are very small, but I am happy with wording that says women (the vast vast majority) and anyone else with a cervix and then goes on to topic.

Trans men are women.

You know this. Why are you pretending humans can change sex?

So you’re including transwomen in your definition of woman, or are you saying transwomen don’t need this service abd therefore are not women? Slightly transphobic don’t you think?

PatchouliPrincess · 23/01/2026 17:14

Shedmistress · 23/01/2026 15:20

Just women covered it for years - since language evolved they knew who the women were.

I agree. That we have to pretzel ourselves to be 'inclusive' is madness. Literally.

Do trans women have a cervix?

India willoughby says he does. And has threatened promised to show it if needed. But if transwomen are women, surely they’d be included in the “women” bit wouldn’t they? So should definitely turn up for a smear. As it says women and people with a cervix.

I cannot believe how petty and spiteful this is.

I don't find the replies are spiteful. They are responding to the absurdity of 'anyone with a cervix'.

Well if you haven't got a cervix you don't need cervical screening. What's absurd about that?

Only biological women have a cervix.

For me a trans-man is living as a man. With some very limited exceptions I would treat him as a man and similarly I would treat a trans-woman as a woman.

What on earth does 'living as a man' (or woman) mean?

And are you saying you support men's 'rights' to use women's single sex spaces?

I really don’t know why you’re asking her this when she quite clearly said

What we need to be clear on is that a female changing area should be for biological women only and that in certain limited other cases such as personal care, rape support and in some cases prisons should be based on biological sex.

Please see my earlier comments. My work team had a number of trans people. I do not have any issue in using their preferred pronouns or seeing them largely as women. For changing rooms, personal care, some aspects of medical care prisons and some areas we do need spaces based on biological sex. Which is what I said in my second post.

that's not enough for most Trans identify people, especially males. You would be considered transphobic for not welcoming them in single sex spaces with open arms.

Thanks. it comeback to a reasonable test. My sisters are Nurses. Quite understandably they would want to get changed in a space based on biological sex. This is why we need finalised guidance on single sex spaces. Once we have this clarity I would hope the debate can be less polarised.

But what does 'living as a woman/man' mean? (My original question)

What do you mean seeing them 'largely' as women? Are you saying they are women sometimes but not other times? How/when does it change?

How do you explain treating them as women sometimes but then not other times? Isn't that a confusing and unfair thing to do?

Calling men women and pretending they can have cervixes is not helping to secure single sex changing spaces for nurses. Quite the opposite in fact.

Just stick to facts.

As the @TheKeatingFive said, pandering to this is not helping your sisters.

These men are enabled by the fact that we have mangled language.

If they are not women for the purpose of changing rooms then they are not women!

it's really simple.

So how does someone live “as a man”. Without using sexist, outdated stereotypes, can you explain how someone born female can live as a man?

Ah so you know they are not really the opposite sex but you’re willing to lie and pretend you do? If you truly believed they were the opposite sex you would treat them as such in all scenarios.

I think we should demand that India Willoughby show us his cervix if he's so kindly offered.
I think I'd pay to see him have a smear.

I reckon you put on a pair of manly jeans and maybe a muscle vest?

And offer plenty of un-asked-for opinions on all sorts of things, especially to women you don't know.

And be better with a power drill.

That sort of thing, I guess.

Only biological with a cervix have a cervix. No point me turning up for cervical screening. People go on about accuracy and facts and the fact is being a woman does not mean you have a cervix.

The issue is that presumably you knew that your cervix was being removed (for medical reasons) and until that point the only way you knew you had one was because you are a woman? If it just said 'smear tests for women', you would carry on and book an appointment knowing that your cervix had been removed? Did they not tell you that you'd not need smear tests any more?

If you read my posts you'd see they did tell me. Of course id just had an operation so maybe not that alert. Irrelevant if you are for an accurate statement. Only women have a cervix. Some women have a cervix. Both are accurate.

And no man has ever had a cervix. And no male is a woman. If we’re being totally accurate.
