AIBU to be turned off by unwashed hands and a small package?

I've recently been dating again after a bad experience and long break. I have known this person years and we have chatted quite often so the familiarity is there. 2 things: he has a very small package and the whole thing was just very awkward and it didn't really work. And after a random conversation it turns out that he doesn't wash his hands after going to the toilet (both a wee and poo). I'm really fussy with cleanliness and to me that is very basic hygiene.

AIBU to do a 180 turn on the whole thing? He is trying to make plans to see me this weekend as we speak. My friend says give it another meet up and see as sex is always very awkward at first but it's the hand washing thing aswell.

I've just been speaking to my dad, he confirmed he always washes his hands after using the toilet but he rarely sees other men wash theirs in pubs etc 🤢 and yes the amount of women I see in shops and pubs that just walk out of the toilet without washing hands is high so not sure how much hope there is.

I used to work in a London office and at one point had to share the bathroom with all the men. I was disgusted to find out that neither the partners (ultra rich guys) and CEO washed their hands! I just don’t get it 🤢🤢

Exactly, I was shocked. He always looks clean. Thank God he has never made me food 🤢 I don't mind being friends like we used to be, no touching involved.

Don’t let him carry your drink back from the bar, even as a friend 🤢

Booboobagins · 17/01/2026 21:48

And his hands go all over you. A big fat No fromme.

Run for your life. How disgusting is he?

Wow I'm genuinely concerned how hard it might be to find a hand washer now.

I actually do not believe that someone would openly admit, in casual conversation with someone they wish to have regular sex with, that they never wash their hands after taking a shit?!

Even if they, for whatever reason, chose not to (the mind boggles) what could they possibly gain from announcing it to a potential love interest?!

So if this is true, obviously you never touch him again. But again I'm sceptical.

My ex did.

He said he didn't touch his genitals so why did he need to wash his hands.

I put him straight.

Current DP thought you didn't always have to - I've put him straight now as well!

I don't know who drags up these men!

I don't know any man that washes his hands. Even the most fastidiously clean men when they have been in my home and been to the toilet...when I go in there after them the basin and the soap are dry.

These are men that are fastidious about hygiene in other ways. It used to shock me but I've not had one man who has routinely washed his hands.

Whereas every man I know washes his hands

RadiologyStaff · 17/01/2026 22:13

I regularly assist in ultrasound, when we scan testicles we ask the patient to hold their penis up out of the way. I can count on one hand how many of them have washed their hands before they’ve left the room. I used to point them to the sink but honestly, I’ve given up now.

@Tink3rbell30 just tell him you think you’re not really ready to be dating and you’re better as friends.

Sassylovesbooks · 17/01/2026 22:15

Eeek 4" when hard and skinny 😧 God, NO!!! I've seen a few sizes in my time, but not that small!

Hand washing after going to the toilet, especially a poo, is basic hygiene. If he doesn't wash his hands, I'd be wondering what else he doesn't wash!!

It sounds to me, that although you think he's good looking, and has a nice personality, there's actually no chemistry there. For the sex to work (assuming he didn't have a small dick), there has to be chemistry. If it isn't there, it isn't there, you can't force it.

Next!!

Allseeingallknowing · 17/01/2026 22:17

How many on here are unaware that their partners don’t wash their hands after using the toilet? A lot, I bet.

You’re 100% sure of that?

ShowMeTheSea · 17/01/2026 22:18

Why would you even feel the need to ask this 😂
YANBU but why the need to validate something so obvious lol
MN is weird sometimes 😁

StrippeyFrog · 17/01/2026 22:19

I’d be assuming that your friend that thinks you’re being too harsh is also not a hand washer. I think most people that care about basic hygiene would say it’s an absolute no to dating someone like that.

I think they decide to "think for themselves" in their mid teens 🤢

Manxexile · 17/01/2026 22:23

Apologies if I've missed this as I've not read the whole thread (kill me now!), but is it the unwashed hands or the "small package" that concerns you, or both?

I mean, if it was a ginormous package but unwashed hands would it bother you to the same extent?

Or would a "small package" but surgically hygienic hands equally disturb you?

hoxtonbabe · 17/01/2026 22:39

He can’t do much about his chipolata but the non existent handwashing is a bye ✋ and block ( but I realise you have known him some time so that’s probably not the best thing to also block)

The not handwashing after going to the bathroom is absolutely disgusting 🤮.
That 💯 would be enough for me not to see him again .
I actually can’t believe your friend & what she said !

I was seeing someone before , he was a Gentleman, good job , lovely home , didn’t socialise too much , was sporty .
Attractive & so easy to chat to .
Thing was though , he was very small .
It ruined sex , I literally could not feel him .
There is no fixing that I’m afraid.
It was a deal breaker for me .

MissCooCooMcgoo · 16/01/2026 15:33

  1. I do not do tiny penises. I don't care if this makes me "shallow"
  2. Hand hygiene is only the beginning. Bet he doesn't wash other areas either 🤮

Summary: Sack him off. You can do better.

Edited

👏

FloofyKat · 17/01/2026 23:08

What 😱
Not only does he not wash his hands after using the toilet, he also thinks it’s ok to tell you this? What a massive turn-off! What other hygiene shortcomings does he have? Has he not read the research that shows how much fecal matter is transferred to surfaces by unwashed hands?

This alone would be enough for me to cancel any future dates. A small penis is ok as long as he learns how to use it, but not understanding the necessity of basic hand hygiene is too worrying to persevere.

You friend needs to read the dictionary and learn the meaning of asexual …it’s certainly not the dislike of a small penis! And I’d stop taking her advice on what constitutes good dating material.

Better luck next time, OP!

We were talking about our typical type of partner we go for, I said mine and I added but one thing that majorly puts me off is people who don't wash their hands after going to the toilet. He then said that he doesn't, why he doesn't and why it isn't an issue 🤯

@Tink3rbell30 I wouldn’t lie about why you can’t and don’t what to continue daying/sleeping together. He has given you everything you need to end it and tell him why.
Jeeze what was he thinking! Disgusting

House26 · 17/01/2026 23:17

Don't date someone who doesn't wash his hands, do you really want manky unwashed hands touching you?

Llamallamafruitpyjama · 17/01/2026 23:31

That is VILE and in a practical sense could make you unwell. Absolutely foul and disgusting to not wash his hands. That with a small penis that he isn’t good at working would have me throwing him back in the toilet and then flush and wash your hands! Like a normal adult would.

Cherryicecreamx · 17/01/2026 23:31

Even if he is this gross, why would he think of saying it to someone he is supposedly trying to impress?!

Omg that's bizarre.
A women doesn't touch their genitals either when we wipe, we touch it with paper like, erm.. humans who've evolved since Neanderthal times...

Not me! Even my 5yr old son washes his hands after every bathroom use, yes even only pees! You still have to flush and get yucky hands
