To wonder if past trauma was a factor in the Renee Nicole Good murder and that, while not absolving agent, it shows ICE should select agents more carefully?

Carla786 · 11/01/2026 20:58

Reading this from the BBC, I wonder if the agent was suffering from previous trauma. They had earlier been in the Iraq War and then had huge number of stitches after being dragged by a car while arresting apparently a 'child sex offender' illicit migrant last March.

Thus I wonder if, because Renee Good clipped them with the car earlier(as The Times indicates), shooting at her car as she drove past was less a rational decision borne from evil and more an instinctive reaction from recent trauma with cars on the job?

This is NOT an excuse. But I wonder if it also shows that ICE are selecting traumatised agents who are too dangerous, due to this, to be in that position?

Person wearing tactical vest leans toward a car with shattered rear window, broken glass visible, trees and houses in background.

ICE agent in Minnesota shooting was dragged by car in June

The officer was injured in a separate case that also involved a car pulling away during an investigation.

They drop tear gas canisters outside elementary schools

No they didn’t.

They grab people from day cares

She actually was stopped in her car and then she fled into the daycare (where she worked). She shouldn’t have done that/

They lift teenage US citizens from their work at Target, beat them up and abandon them miles away

Yeah ICE shouldn’t have done that.

There are multiple cases happening in Minneapolis right now that are equal and far worse to those listed above. Too many to list. It’s easy to go and find the details online.

It’s a little odd to downplay the specific cases to be honest. Trump and Noem wouldn’t thank you as they’re justifying and ramping up the violence, not minimising it.

No, you watch the videos. In fact, watch this analysis by a former NYPD Lieutenant with experience of conducting investigations into police shootings.

He sees her turning the steering wheel hard to the right. He completely disregarded the established best practice for a traffic stop. In fact there needn't have been any interaction in the first place, ICE could simply have driven on by. This was murder.

Its very hard to see what is actually happening in a video played at that speed. Which is probably why that broadcaster only chose to play that, instead of looking in more detail at what happened.. You can see more clearly what happened if you slow things down as in this video ( which btw is not from a USA news channel, which are notoriously and unashamedly political biased in one direction or another)..

Due process?! What like the due process that illegal immigrants stick to?

I don't know the details but I think due process will be adhered to once in custody. They do have a judicial system in the US.

Maybe our border control could do some work experience in the US and learn how to be effective.

Due process doesn’t mean they get endless appeals as in the UK.

If they don’t have papers to prove legal residency, then they are eligible for deportation. Sometimes they’ll try to claim asylum to slow walk the system. Not sure they can do this anymore but there’s a huge backlog from the Biden years. They don’t go through a judiciary, however. Their case is determined by so-called immigration judges but they are actually part of the executive and not a true judiciary.

Thank you for illustrating my point 🤗

Do you even believe illegal aliens should be deported?

Be honest …

Which bit about illegal immigration don't you understand is illegal, they are breaking the law and are in fact criminals?

A pp on another thread did infact post stats to illegals who were rapists and worse too if that helps?

They aren’t criminals under US law. It’s a civil offence. Surely the self-declared patriots should care more about what the actual laws of the land say?

Deportation isn’t considered a punishment. It is a civil action (really). Which is why they don’t appear before real judges

Serpentstooth · 13/01/2026 18:01

So they're not committing a crime? They should definitely be shot in the face then, save on the paperwork.

What an appalling thing to say. So many of you seem to get a thrill from saying 'shot in the face'.

This woman acted in a way that posed a threat, sad but avoidable.

Interesting, they go through a system be it via immigration judges rather than the usual judiciary. Some posters are suggesting they are driven to the border and dumped without any kind of process.

Jeez - you need a chill pill.

CAPITAL LETTERS ARE NOT A COMPELLING COUNTER ARGUMENT

Seriously I don't think she was intending to drive at the officer, she was simply trying to get away. Whether the officer thought that was she was driving at him, putting his and or his colleagues lives at risk plus if he genuinely believed this then whether shooting her was a reasonable use of force is for the subsequent investigation to establish.

Please calm down you'll make yourself ill carrying on like this.

A woman obstructed officers, refused to follow instructions then acted in a way perceived to be a threat. Tragic but avoidable, I've just seen another clip of another woman doing exactly the same with activists shrieking drive drive but she was fortunately removed from her car and cuffed.

The 'mayor' needs to be telling people to stop obstructing officers and attempting to cause harm to others.

The poster doesn't need to take a "chill pill". The summary execution of someone who peacefully resisted the fascist regime is a good reason to be angry.

You want to know who needs to take a "chill pill"?

Nah, the instruction to officers that they should "get the fuck out of Minneapolis" was the right one. The city was perfectly peaceful before those goons showed up.

Which is great and all but the whole case has been irredeemably tainted by irrespondible commentary from the White House which has shat all over due legal process. Again.

Whilst I agree with you that the commentary by Trump in the Executive was entirely inappropriate and wrong, the fact remains that the judiciary in the US remain independent.

There is always the option of a civil case by her relatives etc if the findings of the Federal investigation are seen to be wrong.

Not that that makes it any less brutal ..
