Ice agent shoots a woman in the face part 3

Moontan · 09/01/2026 15:35

Donald Trump has now said its okay to murder a woman. Because they are doing it for people's 'safety'

It is interesting how far humans will let themselves be abused by bad people.

I was watching a documentary about jonestown the cult.

Some people left the cult

They said that the leader beat people, raped people, starved people. He made them do physical labour for many hours a day. He demanded that they give him all of their money.

And yet still hundreds of people followed him.

People seem to keep supporting a person and staying there. Rather than saying "maybe i was wrong and this guy is actually a bad person"

What influence is exercised on us by the US?

Assuming you're asking seriously... America has a huge influence on popular culture. Films, TV series, literature etc. The largest social media sites are American-owned: Facebook, Twitter and so on. When a British person uses those sites, they'll see a lot of American content. America has enormous economic power, meaning Starmer and other European leaders have to appease their leadership no matter how odious. Stories from America dominate much more than those from our immediate neighbours - this particular murder being a case to point. American expressions shape British English but the reverse rarely happens. And American ideas often spread over here - such as identity politics..

That's when they appeared last night.

One appeared 3 minutes after I posted that. They lurk among us.

It’s not “the left” at all.

It is human nature that one death feels like a tragedy and multiple deaths feel more abstract. We already have a feel for Renee as a person from her wife, ex husband, neighbours etc.

Additionally, this is primarily a UK site and the UK and US have been long standing allies, in WW2, NATO etc. What Trump’s government does has a larger impact on the UK than what an Iranian government does.

I just don’t buy it. Ultimately we’re so used to holding the West to a higher standard, and attributing greater value to the lives of its citizens, that we just shrug when the exact same thing (and much worse) happens overseas, while telling ourselves the lack of interest is due to X, y or Z. Trying to make out that lack of interest is due to complex geopolitical reasons is a nonsense - what has Gaza got to do with us? Yet I’m willing to bet the same posters here are outraged by that too (yes, rightfully).

I think you all need to do some soul searching - and really ask yourselves why you’re lacking in interest in any atrocity where the perpetrator isn’t a white, right wing white man.

NotTerfNorCis · 09/01/2026 23:19

In that case @Playingvideogames why are YOU on this thread? Funny I don't see you on https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/conflict-in-the-middle-east/5472819-huge-anti-government-protests-in-tehran-and-other-iranian-cities

It's almost like you're trying to change the subject.

Can we try to look at it objectively? Because when things don’t make sense, they often aren’t true. And her as a murderous domestic terrorist doesn’t make sense.

He is an undertrained, very stressed man who has been given carte blanche to treat people quite violently. He has a gun. He has been socialised to see people who resist as enemies. She is openly resisting. He’s angry, and possibly he is afraid. He’s in a high pressure situation and has to make a split second decision. His fight reflex kicks in and he fires.

Her flight reflex kicked in just before.

Which means he should be pled down to manslaughter or second or third degree murder. Wasn’t premeditated but was intentional.

Killing people because you belong to a violent mob who believe civilians are your enemies surely makes you more culpable, not less.

You might not have premeditated this specific act but your whole mindset is geared towards brutality.

The only thing he has going for him is being undertrained, and that's barely an excuse, I'm not trained in law enforcement either and I don't try to kill people.

He should have the book thrown at him, and all the others with him too under joint enterprise.

I’m posting about it but not on this website. I’ve read the thread here but have little to add that hasn’t already been said.

SheilaFentiman · 09/01/2026 23:21

If there is soul searching, it is probably more to do with the extent that posters identify with the victim (as this a forum with a lot of mothers aged between 30 and 50…) rather than anything to do with the perp.

But do link us to the thread you have started or are enthusiastically contributing to on the Iranian protests, and I’m sure some of us will take a look.

Personally I don't feel I have much to say about Iran because in that instance the site doesn't seem to be full of tossers arguing that shooting people is a good idea.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 09/01/2026 21:13

The new footage is incontrovertible. I know people need to cling to their faux-lefty credentials at all costs but she wasn't panicking in the slightest - the opposite frankly - and her wife was yelling at her to drive at the officer. She shouldn't be dead, these protesters are allowed to act with impunity and with no consequences, encouraged into a righteous frenzy by people who should know better, so it ends up like this. What a mess.

and her wife was yelling at her to drive at the officer

We hear her wife say ‘drive baby, drive’. I don’t see how it is possible to conclude from this that she was ‘yelling at her to drive at the officer’

You can throw the book at him with second degree murder. And should. I suspect Trump will instantly pardon him anyway.

The PP asked why he did it, I think that’s why. It’s a reason. Not in any way remotely a justification. There are always disaffected, angry, violent, prejudiced men itching for a bigger dog to give them power. And this is what happens when they get it. Protestors being gunned down in the streets.

And let’s not forget the Hispanic people rotting in Salvadoran prisons. Many of them will be tortured and killed as well.

Nah, you haven’t, sweetie.

If you want to post about Iran, do so wherever that is the topic. For the hard of thinking: that’s not the topic here.

No point engaging with you further. You have a great day, now.

The idea that mumsnet is a hotbed of supporters of the regime of Ayatollah Khamenei is pretty hilarious.

Agree (with both parts, sadly!)

I mean it’s a fairly lame accusation these days.

Ive made a valid point, hence the hissy fits.

This lady’s death is tragic and unjustified, right now there are more tragic and unjustified deaths going on in similar circumstances but they won’t receive the same attention because it’s not Trump/Netanyahu/Farage.

I don’t think they know enough about it to support one side or the other. This death though has drawn forensic video examination, 3000 posts, and highly charged ‘debate’

DeepBlueDeer · 09/01/2026 23:37

I don't know why devout Trump-supporting Americans continue to post on here.

The US, under Trump, basically views Europe in adversarial terms.

You don't care about our views. You'd presumably support the killing of any European troops that tried to defend Greenland.

Can't you all just fuck off to Truth Social or wherever?

LlttledrummergirI · 09/01/2026 23:37

This seems to sum up the interaction between Renee and her murder.

This is what we hear on the video.

It's the fact that people are trying to justify it that is creating the big threads. While I don't think we will ever change the minds of the MAGA faithful we can at least show the evidence, to other people who are reading, of what actually happened.

Video: Videos Contradict Trump Administration Account of ICE Shooting in Minneapolis

An analysis of footage from three camera angles show that the vehicle appears to be turning away from a federal officer as he opened fire.
