How many of you love your job

I am genuinely interested having been weighing up my options and going round in frustrating circles.
I would like to know how many people feel fulfilled by and enjoy their work and if you do, what work do you do?

I absolutely love my job. Employment coach within a housing association, such rewarding work and no 2 days are the same.

I’m the Chief Financial Officer for an organisation which turns over £150m per year, and I love it for the variety and the difference that I can make in delivering my role.

I work in HE. Used to enjoy it but there have been so drastic cuts and workload has really increased. I still enjoy it but it's a little too full on at times now...

Same here. I used to love it and now it’s awful.

Love it. If I won the lottery I'd still work

Wyksister · 31/12/2025 18:34

Me!

I work as a self employed post natal doula and maternity night nurse

I've done it for 20 years and absolutely love it

I love my job, (analytical chemistry) but struggle with my coworker (technically my superior, but you'd never know it from a work ethic stance). We've worked as a team of 2 for 13 years, and as a part of a larger team for 10 years before that. He's a single, older man child, probably with complex MH problems, but would never admit that, and questionable hygiene. Everyone else knows, management have tried to curb his nonsense over the years but never get very far, and he always manages to just about stay within the boundary that would get him sacked. One day he'll leave or drop dead, then my job will be perfect.
Now that I read that back it's far from perfect. I need a new job.

I love my job.

I'm a senior nurse running a pilot in providing mental health care differently to children in care.

It's a slog some days, but I believe in it.

I do two jobs. I call one my money job as it pays alright but it’s for a dull and staid corporate organisation with all the boring politics and focus on making money.

I also have my love job which pays less well but is in an entertainment venue with brilliant colleagues, lots of laughs, fun and appreciative customers and an amazing variety of jobs that they’ll always let you have a go at trying out.

I love my love job and would go out of my way to help out there and go the extra mile and they also have helped me when I’ve needed extra income.

My corporate ‘money’ job doesn’t care about me and I don’t particularly care about it.

I feel lucky that I have my ‘love’ job.

I do! Dr (anaesthetist). Absolutely love the day job it's so rewarding and an absolute privilege to save/change lives daily

The stuff that comes with it such as having zero say where you work, long commutes, pennies in reimbursement towards £30/day train tickets when rotated to work in London, the 10 tax codes a Yr, hundreds of underpayments when it's screwed up, the no control over where you live until your mid 30s, working 8/10 Xmas since graduating, the paperwork the admin, the assessments, the redoing mandatory training every 6m when move hospitals, being addresses in induction emails as "dear dr x" cos they dont even check the mail merge worked, living out a carrier bag (where your socks get stolen from the changing rooms) as rotational trainees don't deserve a locker, losing friends, missing family events blah de dah not so much

Edited

I’ve been qualified since the 90’s and don’t enjoy medicine at all anymore - sad really 🙁

Teacher
I love my job so much. But I hate my workplace.
Love the kids, can't stand the politics.

I think there are 3 key things to loving your job….

  1. the job itself has to be something you enjoy doing/find interesting,

  2. the company you work for has to have the right culture and treat its staff well (I include pay and conditions in this), and

  3. you have to have colleagues who you enjoy being around on a personal level because you spend roughly 25% of your life with them!

if you can tick those three boxes you’ve cracked it.
