How many of you love your job

I am genuinely interested having been weighing up my options and going round in frustrating circles.
I would like to know how many people feel fulfilled by and enjoy their work and if you do, what work do you do?

I do, I’m a secondary school teacher, head of department. I’ve always loved my job (been doing it since 2004), although it can be hard and stressful at times. I love the variety and I love working with teenagers, they can always put me in a good mood and make me laugh; they’re hilarious 😊

Edited

This is nice to hear as I imagine it can be incredibly demanding also

Teaching Assistant. Absolutely love it. Low wages but love working with children.

theunbreakablecleopatrajones · 29/12/2025 17:30

I love it when I don't hate it - the work is great, but the clients are lunatics and budgets are too small.

I do hate the fact it's a shrinking industry and I probably need a new challenge at this point

Media /creative industries

I have retired now, but yes I did enjoy my second career and found it very fulfilling. I worked freelance in arts outreach and photography, specifically working as picture editor on a magazine (whose design and content I managed), art photography for exhibition, freelance photography (mainly stills for film shoots), and running singing workshops and community choir projects.

This was all possible because we downsized when the children were still young so that I was able to leave my social work career which was becoming so hedged round with bureaucracy that I felt like nothing more than the LA's financial gatekeeper.

I know that I have been lucky, but the contrast between the dead hand of red tape and being free to work imaginatively was like being let out of prison.

Fuzzypinetree · 29/12/2025 17:37

I do. I've been a primary school teacher for nearly 20 years, which I loved. Switched to secondary at the start of this academic year and I'm enjoying that as well. I work with an amazing team and it's great fun. Stressful at times (I'm a single mum and my youngest is 18 months, and getting divorced at the moment). The kids are bonkers, but I think they are great and I care about them doing well.
However, I teach at an independent school abroad, so not only are my working conditions much better than they were back in the UK, I also earn way more.

Echobelly · 29/12/2025 17:39

I dunno if I love my job, but I do like it a lot. I'm a bid writer, putting together content for a large business that does contracts for government, businesses, education etc. It's not world changing or that meaningful, but it's good pay and challenging in an interesting way, and there's a quite a good online community of people who do it sharing problems and jokes about it. Plus for the first time in my life I'm being paid a lot (not by some people's standards, but it's more than I thought I would ever earn in the sorts of roles I did for the last 20 years) and it's quite in demand, for the time being at least, so I know that I can easily move jobs if I want to or have to, and can earn more money if I need to.

BePoisedPlumUser · 29/12/2025 17:40

I work in retail and I love it. I can pretty much pick my hours to suit me and my colleagues are fabulous. Pays pennies mind.

FinallyDoingItAfterTooLong · 29/12/2025 17:42

I don't. I work in tech. I very much feel like I'm selling my time to the highest bidder because I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up (I graduated 15 years ago). I work in something pretty moral, which gets me through, but doesn't give me enough of a sense of fulfilment to compensate for the grind. Fortunately I love the people I work with but, again, not enough to actively enjoy it

Slinky1460 · 29/12/2025 18:09

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I work in Local Government and love knowing that I'm helping residents. But, I hate the dick-swinging that goes on between political parties just for point-scoring.

Skyflymom · 29/12/2025 20:45

I do! I’m cabin crew, my job allows me to see the world and get paid to do it! Of course, it’s not perfect and we do love a moan now and again, but watching the sun rise over Sydney opera house or seeing elephants on safari in Africa makes up for the not so nice aspects of the job!

As the saying goes “choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life”

Kerri44 · 29/12/2025 20:46

Me! I'm a Union Convenor for Local Authority, I get to work with Council Leaders on policy changes and restructures and support members of Staff through issues they have....I'm hoping to start my employment law qualifications too....I am encouraged to strive in my very new career change, but also encouraged that being a Mum is a priority too and that I can do both with the right people around me....I am crazy busy though

QuietComet · 29/12/2025 20:49

I love my job. I work in a technical role for an industry representation body.
My role is fairly autonomous, well-paid and interesting - there are many aspects to my role including member support, software development, subject matters expert stuff, and writing guideline.
The best thing is that I have great colleagues and when I finish work, i can leave it 100% behind me at the end of the day.

It can be annoying and frustrating at times though!

ScrimMN · 29/12/2025 20:51

I love mine ❤️ I’ve been a children’s book illustrator for 13 years,

my agents are brilliant, I work around my family’s needs from home and I’ve worked on some really exciting projects over the years, from sticker books to celebrity titles

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 29/12/2025 20:53

I work on the checkouts at a well known store & love it (mostly!). The actual job is great & I count some of my colleagues as friends. I just get frustrated by some of the technology or rather lack of it! We were supposed to have new tills a while back but they turned out to be secondhand.

Gliblet · 29/12/2025 20:53

I work in learning and organisational development. It can be intensely frustrating at times (when you set out all the evidence that the organisation needs to change its thinking about something or invest in its people and instead senior management nod wisely and then say they've decided to give everyone a free banana on a Friday to thank them for their hard work and keep going exactly as they are). It's also incredibly rewarding when you work with a team who then find all their hidden strengths or learn how to work together more effectively, or realise they're actually brilliant but just lack confidence, or you manage to help them unlock a little bit of thinking that's been holding them back.

Payitforward55 · 29/12/2025 20:54

Can't believe how many people love their jobs. I'm impressed. I work in project management and hate my current role. We continuously underdeliver to our clients due to lack of resources poor leadership. I'm seriously considering leaving.

SandyY2K · 29/12/2025 20:57

I really like my job. It's a second career .
I'm a self employed Counsellor/Therapist.

I get to choose who I have as clients and the type of issues to work with.

Jok77 · 29/12/2025 21:01

I do enjoy my job,I can't imagine doing anything else. I am a Primary School teacher. Yes there are tough days but no two days are the same, I make a genuine difference and I get paid well for doing it.

Timeandtune · 29/12/2025 21:02

I love my job. I am the CEO of a very small charity. Lots of pressure and uncertainty but I genuinely thrive.
It’s part of my role to create a supportive and flexible culture and I enjoy seeing my team develop and fulfill their potential.

Teddy589 · 29/12/2025 21:04

I’m in HE professional services and love it, despite all the challenges in the sector at the moment. As I’m quite senior and in a reasonably niche (and externally funded) role I’m not concerned for my job, and we have secured some very welcome new funding recently. It’s hard at times but I just love the challenges it gives me. I’m not due back to work til next Monday but I’ll be voluntarily catching up on a few bits tomorrow (DH is working tomorrow) to make my life easier next week.

Lardychops · 29/12/2025 21:05

Yes love mine -
good salary, home based
no commute , flexible hours, can buy additional annual leave, all meetings can be attended remotely, no dress code , well respected, decent colleagues, better than average boss. Don’t need to work over my hours any more and can do the admin side with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back
After years of graft very very cushty place to be now - love it

mumofamudmagnet · 29/12/2025 21:08

Homelessness Prevention Officer - massively varied job, especially in today's economic climate! And I absolutely love it. Previously worked in education and then domestic abuse support services. Also loved both of these jobs but my current job is my favourite.

CranberryApplePie · 29/12/2025 21:09

I love my job.

I am a Reprographics Tech in a secondary school. Pay is not good, but considering my hours, it also isn't bad. Recommend to anyone introverted!

Zanatdy · 29/12/2025 21:09

I do genuinely enjoy my job and never dread Monday or returning after AL.

marriednotdead · 29/12/2025 21:12

I love my job. I’m a specialist bra fitter and work with some lovely people, both staff members and customers. There’s often an element of personal counselling, emotional support and body confidence boosting, being half naked seems to embolden people to confide in you!
The difference you can make to someone’s entire existence in as little as half an hour cannot be overstated. Job satisfaction is unmatched.
