I am genuinely interested having been weighing up my options and going round in frustrating circles.
I would like to know how many people feel fulfilled by and enjoy their work and if you do, what work do you do?

Sometimes lol I work in FE and do love being term time lol 😆

Middlemarch123 · 29/12/2025 16:14

I do. Run my own dog walking business. Love the doggies, their owners are so appreciative. Keeps me fit and sociable. I honestly don’t think of it as work, and missed walking them over Christmas last week. The pugs bought me a hamper, so lush.

Wisenotboring · 29/12/2025 16:14

I'm a teacher amd really enjoy my job. It's extremely hard work, but rewarding and the children are lovely. I've worked very hard ro get to this point in a school i love....it's utterly hideous in some schools.

bushproblems · 29/12/2025 16:17

I like the flexibility of mine, and wfh, but the job it’s self it’s so boring and not paid very well

Hoppinggreen · 29/12/2025 16:19

Relocation and Education Consultant, SE
Love it

PenCreed · 29/12/2025 16:22

I do, but I’ve had jobs in the same sector where I didn’t so I know I’m lucky! I work in archives, the pay could be better but it’s always interesting.

Craftysue · 29/12/2025 16:24

I love my job. I'm a visitor guide in a historic building and have met some great people from all over the world. We also have lots of school visits which I enjoy

TattiePants · 29/12/2025 16:29

I absolutely love mine, which is a good job because certain times of the year I need to do A LOT of overtime. I’m a project manager for a children’s charity and see, on a daily basis, the positive impact the charity has on the lives of the families we support. It can be emotionally taxing and I earn a fraction of what I was paid in the corporate world but I wouldn’t swap for any amount of money.

Forgot to add, I also work with the most amazing team of kind, funny and dedicated people and for a truly inspiring boss.

Minty25 · 29/12/2025 16:30

I love and hate it ! It's such a job of contrasts. I work for a charity benefits/ advice work. It's so fulfilling when you can help genuine people and really make things better for them. I won't go into the ones that make me cross as I'll get flamed/ asked how I know etc.I think overall I dislike it more days than i like at the moment . job is due to end in a few months and it will force me to go and work in a different area which will be a good things really.

I would love to do this if there weren't so many in our area already.

Genevieva · 29/12/2025 16:33

I do. I’m a teacher. I’ve worked in all sorts of settings. Currently in an alternative provision for teenagers with SEN who can’t access mainstream school. I love it.

laloue · 29/12/2025 16:37

I do! Moved from mainstream retail management to charity retail management a few months ago. I still get to do what I’m good at, but so much less pressure and I know I’m making a difference. More autonomy too- less pay, less stress and a much happier me😊

I work for a very small children’s charity. The whole team is lovely. I have a disabled young adult child and need a lot of flexibility - and I get it. I’ve been there 10 years and am very lucky to work in such a lovely environment.

I work for a small children’s charity too. In my experience, charities can’t compete with corporate salaries so focus on creating a wonderful workplace that’s flexible and supportive.

Howlongisittomynextholiday · 29/12/2025 16:40

I don't, I don't enjoy being sat in front of a laptop all day, but I love that it pays for my holidays and all the other activities and social events I enjoy doing.

However, I only work 3 days, with flexible hours and the annual leave allowance is decent so I can't really complain.

crazeekat · 29/12/2025 16:41

Registered scrub nurse. Love it, when not being micromanaged

Screenager · 29/12/2025 16:41

I do. I teach outdoor education to kids with SEND

Badgerandfox227 · 29/12/2025 16:42

I’m a ‘Head of’ in marketing for a financial services company and enjoy my job. I have autonomy and work from home and a team that supports me. I have a good work/life balance and my job is challenging and interesting. I did massively hate my last job though - so very much up and down. At the moment I’m in an up phase.

EndorsingPRActice · 29/12/2025 16:43

I’m a financial services regulator, I love my job, consider it to be socially useful and it’s varied and interesting. I’ve been in regulation in a variety of roles since 1994. My employer gave me flexible hours long before this became a common practice which has allowed me to spend a lot of time with my DC when they were young and still have an interesting job. The pay is OK, I’d love a bit more, but given the flexibility it’s fine.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 29/12/2025 16:44

Me! Finally at the age of 45.
Im a Pastoral manager in a secondary.I do behavioural interventions amongst other things.

canuckup · 29/12/2025 17:08

I write bids

I don't actually mind the job itself.

I don't like the team I'm in, or the workplace culture. It's very insular, professional development isn't encouraged, even though they pretend it is.

I like the WFH and I like the benefits

Tryingatleast · 29/12/2025 17:11

Retail and love the actual job but the hours and work are braking my body and the last year I’ve missed out on occasions and events left right and centre so going to have to leave:(

Alltheburpees · 29/12/2025 17:14

I’m an Occupational Therapist. I work in the community with vulnerable adults. Every day brings a different challenge. And yes, I love it.

topcat2014 · 29/12/2025 17:18

I'm an accountant. (CFO) loved my job until I got sacked.. working again now and trying to learn to like work again

Destiny123 · 29/12/2025 17:22

I do! Dr (anaesthetist). Absolutely love the day job it's so rewarding and an absolute privilege to save/change lives daily

The stuff that comes with it such as having zero say where you work, long commutes, pennies in reimbursement towards £30/day train tickets when rotated to work in London, the 10 tax codes a Yr, hundreds of underpayments when it's screwed up, the no control over where you live until your mid 30s, working 8/10 Xmas since graduating, the paperwork the admin, the assessments, the redoing mandatory training every 6m when move hospitals, being addresses in induction emails as "dear dr x" cos they dont even check the mail merge worked, living out a carrier bag (where your socks get stolen from the changing rooms) as rotational trainees don't deserve a locker, losing friends, missing family events blah de dah not so much

Greenwriter76 · 29/12/2025 17:24

I’m in school admin and I like the flexibility of my job and how I can wfh, mostly around school hours - but I don’t love the job itself or the low term-time only pay. I’m always on the lookout for something else.
I had a 20 year career prior to this which was in something I’d wanted to do since a child, and I loved years of that, but as I grew older and my life and priorities changed I lost interest and wanted a change.
