How do you talk to parents about their wills etc

On the back of my other thread about MIL and BIL, I realised that I probably should talk to my parents about their wills and any other stuff. They are mid-70s but have also laughed at the thought of having a will or doing anything about anything. How do you talk to elderly parents about this stuff? And what do you advise? My parents just have their house, no savings - assume house goes to the other person - nothing else is known about them. They both have h3art conditions etc.

@Curlygirl06sorry just seen it is your bank details that you are giving to your DC to use. Please don’t ask them to do that!

Mostly the info is there so they can help my dh find out where stuff is, I do tell him but it's best to have it all in one place so he would know where to start.

What exactly do you want to say to them about their financial affairs? I think its reasonable to ask them to put all documents in one place and tell you where that place is in the event you need to sort their affairs. What else do you need to know or tell?

Yes very good idea to have a list of all bank accounts, pension accounts, insurance policies, funeral plans etc with account numbers, addresses etc. Will make handling your affairs on death or loss of capacity so much easier. Currently trying to persuade DM to sit down and do this but it’s an uphill struggle! Sad
