To be upset by this in a friends group chat?

I’m well aware that this will sound silly, but here goes.

i’m in a group chat with some other women of a similar age as me. We all met because we are fans of a sport. Last weekend that sport concluded and the competitor that I’m not a huge fan of won. No big deal, I’m an adult and I can cope with it.

One member of the group chat was @ ing me through the entire day, basically asking if I was really annoyed, am I pissed off etc etc and just being a bit weird.

i said no not really and left it at that. I went onto the shared document we have of addresses in preparation to send my Christmas cards and I can see that this person has now added comments to my address. It’s my name then (stinks) and under my address they’ve put shithole. From the edit history I can see that this was done by the member who was acting strangely last weekend and was done on the day of the last race.

AIBU to think this is weird behaviour and also a little upsetting? We’re all adults and it just seems strange.

The parasocial interest that Lando fans have towards him is completely unhinged. Annoying that one of your group has become one of them. She’s probably upset that he mentioned his girlfriend so she can’t pretend he’s single anymore.

GlobalTravellerbutespeciallyBognor · 14/12/2025 21:54

‘Ah. Has someone’s child been on their computer? Flowers/chocolate/other apologies welcome’

AngelicKaty · 14/12/2025 22:05

@alittlechildish She sounds like an absolute weirdo OP and so immature. I'm glad you called out her nonsense (which then produced an even more nonsensical excuse from her!) and at least now you know what you're dealing with! 🙄 I think it's good to let it go now, as you have, but I'd have been so tempted to annotate the spreadsheet with "immature twat" next to her name! 😉😂

But when will it be Ferraris turn 😔

Even poor Lewis can’t see that day ☹️

DuchessDandelion · 14/12/2025 16:39

This time of year really brings the unhinged lot of the woodwork!

Op I'd screenshot it and post it to the group with the comment "did someone's 8 year old get bored?"

This

BlazenWeights · 14/12/2025 22:14

That’s very weird !!! I’m surprised a Maclaren /Lando fan would act like that. That’s typically what a Max fan would act like . Sorry couldn’t help myself there…….😆

BeardofHagrid · 14/12/2025 22:20

I would just leave the group. Don’t even explain why, just leave. They sound really annoying, not worth your time.

BlazenWeights · 14/12/2025 22:23

alittlechildish · 14/12/2025 21:18

But when will it be Ferraris turn 😔

I take it this is rhetorical right? I fear we may never see a Ferrari win in our lifetime which is another 50 years. I’m exaggerating but seriously they despair me 😭

StephensLass1977 · 14/12/2025 22:30

The receptionist and facilities guy did this to me at work some 15 years ago. We'd all been good friends, but one day they decided to team up against me "for fun" and stick post it notes on my pigeonhole, saying pretty similar to what you describe. Name calling, how I "stink" (I didn't) and other random weird stuff. All to be potentially seen by any colleague at the reception area.

I pulled the notes down in total anger, told them exactly what I thought of them, and reported them to their superiors. I don't take that sort of shit from anyone. Another colleague had been the one to alert me to it, and said a few others had seen it, and wondered what I "must have done" to upset them! Nothing at all! They were just being totally stupid and inappropriate!

I know this isn't work, but knock this on the head and don't let anyone talk to you like that. Bloody cheek!

nomas · 14/12/2025 22:34

butterdish93 · 14/12/2025 16:34

Hahaha I mean it’s funny but yes upsetting.
the thing is, she probably doesn’t realise that when she’s changed it, everyone can view her edited version. She likely did it for her personal amusement which is what makes it so petty and amusing

Why is writing that OP stinks and lives in a shit hole funny?

Shedeboodinia · 14/12/2025 22:36

I would call it out. But not in a horrified pearl clutching way. But in a 'this is hilarious and very silly' kind of way. Always take the high road but don't let people get away with no recourse.
'Sandra, everyone can see your edits. I don't stink, except in Wednesdays after I have crawled out of my shithole, but just letting you know we can see your edits!!'

LiveToTell · 14/12/2025 22:50

WeNeedToTalkAboutIT · 14/12/2025 21:29

If you care to, I'd unarchive the chat just to add that a joke is something that the recipient finds funny. It wasn't funny, it was hurtful, and it was purile behaviour.

No need to “unarchive” a chat to message on it.

alittlechildish · 14/12/2025 21:18

But when will it be Ferraris turn 😔

Not anytime soon, the way they’re carrying on!! I was holding out such hope for Max, I cannot stand Lando and unbearable Zak but there we are, that’s sport!
Clearly that person is an absolute weirdo, op. Sorry you’ve had the misfortune to come across them!

ConstitutionHill · 14/12/2025 22:53

Floorclean · 14/12/2025 16:38

i said no not really

so “not really”

but leaves it hanging that maybe a…. Little bit peeved!

But does that merit the unhinged comments?

NotAnotherScarf · 14/12/2025 22:59

It's 'banter'. I know that dreadful excuse people use to excuse trying to annoy someone or get a reaction. I am a football fan of a team who are doing really badly, our local rivals are doing very very well so when I meet a new person who supports them, immediately they bring it up. I've had some very aggressive responses when I bring up things from their clubs history which is strange when it's meant to be "bance".

I expect she is over invested in the result and expected you to throw a tantrum...it's sport not inventing the cure for the common cold but she is trying to get a reaction and your lack of one deep down is pissing her off.

Dazzledee · 14/12/2025 23:01

I think Charles could totally have a shot at winning, if he were to leave Ferrari! I sadly don't think Ferrari have a shot in a long time! It's meant to be Mercedes year next year!

Someone mentioned am F1 thread - where does one find this!?

Booboobagins · 14/12/2025 23:05

It's very childish of her!!!

I'd screenshot the entries so I have the evidence should I need it in case things turn bad... .

I would confront her with the evidence but I would so take the mick about it.

Hopefully she will be mortified by I would stay away from her, she is displaying very odd behaviour.

WimbyAce · 14/12/2025 23:09

The whole thing is bizarre, not sure I could continue to be friends with someone this childish.

Copperoliverbear · 14/12/2025 23:24

Can you edit it and change it back to normal, if so that’s what I would do and ignore it.

Italiangreyhound · 14/12/2025 23:48

That's awful, not at all funny, and very crap. So sorry.

SheSaidHummingbird · 14/12/2025 23:56

JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 14/12/2025 21:07

I’m a Lando fan but it is fine to want Max to win, he is the best driver by miles!

Pun intended?

Mistyglade · 15/12/2025 00:01

It’s banter if you’re 11 years old.

Honestly, why are people so thick now.

Lamentingalways · 15/12/2025 00:03

You’re allowed to be a bit disappointed that your favourite didn’t win so I’m not sure why some people think it’s weird that you said ‘not really’ it doesn’t mean an adult should be attempting to goad you all day. I would call it out tbh, screenshot and tag her and ask what happened. Surely the other women will think she’s weird and give her a wide berth? If not then you need new friends or at least to get away from this group. It’s really, really unkind IMO and not remotely funny unless you’re 5.

we’re a friendly group, passionate but remember it is a sport.

Thread two We are over halfway through the season. It looks like the WDC will either be Lando or Oscar. Hoping for a grandstand finish in Abu Dhabi.

I would screenshot showing the edit and who did it ? With a simple "you ok Hun?" With a smiley face
