I’m well aware that this will sound silly, but here goes.

i’m in a group chat with some other women of a similar age as me. We all met because we are fans of a sport. Last weekend that sport concluded and the competitor that I’m not a huge fan of won. No big deal, I’m an adult and I can cope with it.

One member of the group chat was @ ing me through the entire day, basically asking if I was really annoyed, am I pissed off etc etc and just being a bit weird.

i said no not really and left it at that. I went onto the shared document we have of addresses in preparation to send my Christmas cards and I can see that this person has now added comments to my address. It’s my name then (stinks) and under my address they’ve put shithole. From the edit history I can see that this was done by the member who was acting strangely last weekend and was done on the day of the last race.

AIBU to think this is weird behaviour and also a little upsetting? We’re all adults and it just seems strange.

I’d be calling them out ! They’re acting like an entitled child and adding those ‘comments’ to your personal details is unacceptable, cruel and unnecessary!

i said no not really

so “not really”

but leaves it hanging that maybe a…. Little bit peeved!

So what?

Hahaha I mean it’s funny but yes upsetting.
the thing is, she probably doesn’t realise that when she’s changed it, everyone can view her edited version. She likely did it for her personal amusement which is what makes it so petty and amusing

Eh? It's not funny, just nasty and pathetic. I wonder what their beef is.

coleslaws · 14/12/2025 18:23

Screenshot it. Just for your own records.

then text the group chat “ Guys, just a heads up, for your information, when someone edits the shared address document , all the amendments can be seen by all, as it’s shared. Just wanted to mention it as I think someone might not have realised. “

homelovingalme · 14/12/2025 18:24

Floorclean · 14/12/2025 16:45

You should have said that then! Be unequivocal.

Rather than “no not really” to her barrage which is a bit wishy washy

Strange thing to focus on, rather than the bizarre behaviour of the other person.

So what?

Exactly, it's just more polite than "No." Which sounds like you're cross

A couple of them are trying to say it was a joke made “in the heat of the moment”

Yeah, but a joke is meant to be funny for everyone, especially the one being made the butt of the joke and it ain’t funny.

What is the right response?

Edited

I'd do this.

Reevester · 14/12/2025 18:40

Would agree with the thought of is she a drinker. Then next to why is she drinking. Whatever she’s got going on will all come out in the wash. I would just private message her and ask if she’s okay?

Alwaysdancinginthemoonlight · 14/12/2025 18:41

I'd be really annoyed at how others in the group have defended it as 'a joke'

Sometimes it's best to wait for the second thought to come into your head.

blankcanvas3 · 14/12/2025 18:45

YANBU to think it’s odd. YABU to not be a fan of Lando!!

Me too

It was VERY rude imo

alittlechildish · 14/12/2025 18:46

I’ve just muted it and archived the chat. No point in even arguing with them anymore I think.

But jokes are not made 'in the heat of the moment' shitty digs are.

JJWT · 14/12/2025 18:53

Aw, why don't you love Lando? I was chuffed to bits!! I hope you're not a M V fan - boo!! Gently joking, obvs, as like you, I am an adult. That other person sounds unhinged! Urgh.

Sugargliderwombat · 14/12/2025 18:58

The same sort of people who, when England win, decide to trash bus stops and start fights in the street. Some people just can't be happy. What an utter misery she must be.

You sound like the very person OP's talking about.

diddl · 14/12/2025 19:37

Goodness he's younger than my kids!

I remember when James Hunt drove for Hesketh Racing!

CluelessAboutBiology · 14/12/2025 17:52

Is she Lando’s mum or something, and that’s why it was a big day for her?

or is she on glue?

😂😂😂😂

Eyeshadow · 14/12/2025 19:48

The chat comments wouldn’t bother me.

I know lots of people who are football fans and will dig at each other like this.
Its harmless fun.

But the address thing is weird and she sounds exactly as you say, like some obsessed teen who needs to constantly gloat.

I’m a sports fan. I can banter as much as the next person. It just all strikes me as very odd. Repeatedly tagging me in the chat trying to get me to say I’m angry, doing this and then saying it’s because I “dampened her spirit” is just odd.
