I’m just starting my Xmas shopping … I know I know… my 6 year old has put this on her xmas list. They’re ugly little dolls right? A six pack… she must mean small ones. I can only find keyrings. She’s also written “Labubu pencil case”… why aren’t there any Labubu things on Amazon?! Please help!

Oh I’ll definitely be buying fakes

Please don't as they're not regulated, and they are more expensive/about the same price as a real one. You can buy them from popmart. It's £18 for one and £106 for the full set in the UK

Yes that’s right.. I don’t even know what she will do with it ! Hang it on her bag i imagine.

anyway, I have a plan.

tomorrow morning I am going to announce that I heard it on the news that Santa doesn’t have enough Labubu’s to give out six packs, but he has said he’ll try to give every body that asked ONE Labubu plus a small extra surprise present. And I’ll ask her which colour she is hoping for.

see how that goes ….

Dont let her take it into school for the whole day. That is exactly the sort of thing that would be "lost" and then magically appear on the bag of the girl who didnt get one. Happened to me as a kid, and it cant be proved that its hers so she will never get it back!

Let her take it into school to show her friends then it goes home with you. Frame it as "but you would hate it if it got broken or lost wouldnt you? So you can show your friends but I will keep it safe for you"

I am refusing to collude with all this Labubu nonsense. My DD asked for a Labubu too but she will not be getting one. Kids are so spoilt nowdays.

I’m not sure how spending £18 on something that your child really wants for Christmas equates with them being spoiled. Spoiled is when they demand one each week.

Bottlesofrumonthewall · 12/12/2025 01:41

just tell her to ask for something else

Nasty little fuckers. How do children end up craving such creatures?

I know, advertising and peer pressure.

Like the brain rot and 67

lol. I remember the frenzy over cabbage patch kids - real and fake, exorbitant cost, people queuing up and even fighting to get them - forty years ago.

’Kids today’ hey. Sure.

youegg · 12/12/2025 02:00

Yeah but did you get her the BBQ?

MyChristmasCheerHasBuggeredOff · 12/12/2025 02:18

Get one on popmart.
Or buy from the person on here via vinted

GirouxSein · 12/12/2025 02:28

Honestly, Labubu stuff is a nightmare to find in normal shops. They’re those collectible blind box figures and most of the real ones come from Pop Mart or resellers, which is why Amazon looks empty.
A “6 pack” is probably just something she saw on YouTube where people open loads at once. They don’t usually sell them in sets like that.
If you just want something for Christmas without going down the rabbit hole, I’d grab one blind box and maybe a fan-made pencil case from Etsy. She’s six — she won’t care if it’s not some rare collector edition.

Dairymilkisminging · 12/12/2025 03:45

Home bargains have labubu pj's atm

WiddlinDiddlin · 12/12/2025 03:46

You can absolutely buy sets of Labubu's where you're guaranteed one of each vs buying individually, you could end up with six the same @GirouxSein

The point is, they're designed and hyped up for kids to collect them all. There will be common ones and rare ones. One will never be enough unless you can set ground rules that ONE is it, and if she doesn't like it, tough titty.

It's really gambling, hype them up to open the blind box - huge disappointment when its not the rare one/the one all their mates have/the one their mates want - big crash - want another one, round you go again.

Be warned with the fakes the kids can spot them a mile away.

My Youngest has no labubu’s yet she can tell
me how the legit one have 5 teeth or whatever and the fakes don’t, the eyes are different.

Much muttering in the playground over lafufu’s as they are calling the fakes.

Yep, just like fake Pokémon cards or anything else. Better to find something that's the real deal or just go with something else.

Northernlass13 · 12/12/2025 04:22

hi op! They are in stock on the official pop mart website! I know it’s 108 for the full set but it’s better than 200 +

£279?!!!

But odd they are more at Sports Direct than their official retailer.

Exactly. I thought 'fucking hell' when I saw the £279 SD price when they're £108 from the official retailer. Plus there appears to be a grey one that doesn't feature in the set of 6 so I don't know what the deal is there.

I think for £108 it could be a learning experience for her. If you bought her that as her 'big present' so all she got as well as the usual stocking fillers was some crappy dolls that she'll be bored with by February you can remind her of this if she wants poor value craze things in future - if all the budget goes on the 'in thing' that's probably less enjoyment than if she spent it on something more worthwhile instead, I'm sure you can think of examples of something she consistently likes for a similar price.

It is insane. I spend a lot of time in China, and Popmart stores are in a lot of malls. But their normal blind-box style items are about 4-9 pounds, and even that is a bit pricey compared to other brands.

The Labubu pricing is just pure trend pricing. A brand has hit trendy/viral gold and is capitalizing on it. It is weird to see how big it has become outside of China though, when most of the equivalent types of designs/brands, never really get to the west.

To the thread though -

I would personally say to her that Santa doesn't do more than 1 of any same thing.

It is a good rule to have. Even things like pokemon cards, where I remember kids asking for 20+ packs. Or any "collectable" style item. Santa won't get more than 1 of same anything.

Then soften the blow by offering alternatives - "but you could send another letter that changes 5 of them for (what ever will get her more tempted)"

Buying one isn’t that expensive. Plus it’s Christmas! Why would you deliberately not get the thing she’s asked for?

That seems incredibly controlling.

ACynicalDad · 12/12/2025 05:59

I was going to suggest a six pack of Labrador puppies. You’d have a very happy kid!

SunnyDolly · 12/12/2025 06:06

My kids asked for labubus this year too @Geranium879 - had my first Pop Mart experience as a 40-year old to go get them!
As others have said, they’re £18 and you just pick a box. They gave me some cute wrapping paper for them too. I’m just hoping there’s no arguments between them over colours on the big day 🫠 I did hear people discussing Vinted in store as a place for people selling/exchanging them too. Could be worth a look if you have a set colour in mind!

MrsToothyBitch · 12/12/2025 06:16

I'd get her one real one because the fakes are pretty dodgy. Then maybe some Labubu themed items. I think she's too young to realise the £££ implications of what she has asked for, or to quite grasp some of the more intense points about resisting consumerism mentioned upthread.

Up to you how you couch FC bringing her only 1. I'd say there was an issue with the amount available - by the time her letter came, it was 1 each - but you found her some special themed items instead.

malificent7 · 12/12/2025 06:24

Get her a real one. It is a lot but you are paying to see her face loght up and something she will treasure. Ignore the consumerist comments....she still believes in Santa right?

OmNomShiva · 12/12/2025 06:37

Get this instead - a six pack of labatt blue.

I mean, what could possibly go wrong ?

Don't buy fakes they are dangerous. I've got a bag full of them I bought for my shop. I didn't know they were fake, found out a few days later and refuse to sell them I'd rather loose money than put kids at risk.

They're only available Pop Mart and a few high end retailers, I'm surprised you wouldn't know they were fake.
