I’m just starting my Xmas shopping … I know I know… my 6 year old has put this on her xmas list. They’re ugly little dolls right? A six pack… she must mean small ones. I can only find keyrings. She’s also written “Labubu pencil case”… why aren’t there any Labubu things on Amazon?! Please help!

I think it depends on your budget and your kid. If you know they’ll likely be underwhelmed after a couple of days and you have limited funds sometimes it’s not the best idea to buy a shitty trendy thing just because that is what they requested. If you have plenty of budget &/or they are likely to enjoy the thing then it’s worth it even if a bit rubbish. My 9 year old was desperate for a Sephora advent calendar as lots of her friends have been on trips to the shop and she’s decided it’s the cool in thing. When they heavily discounted the mid tier one so with a code I had it was about £50 I thought sod it she can have it as it usually costs about £35-40 for the ones I make them anyway. Switched out a number of inappropriate items to add some little toys and a couple of bath bits I had as spares from making her sister’s and my mum’s calendars. She’s now feeling a tiny bit cheated vs the wholly homemade one and it’s probably been a good lesson that getting exactly what you thought you wanted isn’t always as much fun as you expect. If £50 was half my budget though I’d have been a lot more cautious. Also honestly I thought she might really enjoy it so it seemed worth a gamble. There are many things they’ve requested over the years I haven’t bought though. I always make it clear they will get a few things from a list and a few surprises. They like the surprises to the point I barely get a list now 😂

What on earth are 9 year olds getting from sephora? Isn't that a make up shop?

In the calendar? - all sorts of things. A pom pom keyring, a hair clip, lip balms, hand creams, some lip gloss/eyeshadow, some nail polish and then various creams and stuff like mascara that I switched out.

BettysRoasties · 13/12/2025 18:18

I don’t think my 14 year old even knows what Sephora is😅 she’s not a girly girly though.

Americasfavouritefightingfrenchman · 13/12/2025 18:39

My older daughter has no clue or interest. My youngest & a lot of her friends go to a lot of dance classes and have been fascinated with make up since they started doing shows a few years back. I’ve bought myself a beauty advent calendar this year to try as I’ve really used no make up, fragrance or beauty stuff beyond a face cream with a high spf for years. I thought it might be fun to try stuff out.

Oh I see. I thought they were a make up shop! Shows you how out of touch I am! Are they a bit like Claire's accessories?

Oh the shop - yes mainly make up, hair & skin care & fragrances. The calendar must have been aimed at teens I reckon and I can see why the kids wanted it while being not that surprised she’s feeling a tad underwhelmed vs her sisters (I did the big one key rings, pin badges, bath bombs, little toys and a few art bits). I’ve no clue where they pick some of their ideas up from but the interest in make up has definitely come from dance.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 13/12/2025 19:07

This is cuute.

Do not get her a 6 box of lububus
Its ridiculous

voxnihili · 13/12/2025 20:22

After seeing this thread yesterday morning I ordered my DD an actual labubu (she’s realised hers are lafufus and is desperate for a real one) from the pop mart site as I thought they were still ridiculously expensive. Got one for £20 including postage and I’ve already received it. Thank you @Geranium879 for your thread - I will now have a very happy 7 year old on Christmas morning.

Ah right thank you! So she has probably heard tbh is at school if “six pack” is a coined sort of thing. Right so it’s a whole series. Thank you !

Oh god not them! Lol
My daughters were collecting them
They sell them in the local corner shops not sure if they still do

billycat321 · 13/12/2025 21:46

God,they are so ugly

Ophy83 · 11/12/2025 22:58

I'd just get her one genuine one from pop mart - that gives her street cred, she can attach it to her bag. And you still have money left to get her something that you like!

That’s exactly what I would do.

we love popmart. Me probably more than the children. But it’s definitely expensive

OhSoSalty · 14/12/2025 01:34

Geranium879 · 11/12/2025 22:29

Oh no! This is a nightmare. Well I can’t get her six real ones .. I don’t know how much they are but probably £££££

I ordered my kids a 6 pack from popmart in march and they didn't come till September. Gave them 1 each and sold the rest, made all my money back. You'll not get a full series before Christmas, they work on pre orders. Tbh I wouldn't buy fakes. You don't know what they're made of. The genuine ones are worth the money, if you can get them. Excellent quality and collectors items as they're limited lines.

Rudolph23 · 14/12/2025 05:15

Best part of 300 quid for a few ugly keyrings!? Bloody hell.

Bjorkdidit · 14/12/2025 07:57

If they're in stock at the official supplier for 'only' £108, then who on earth is going to pay £279 for them, from Sports Direct of all places?

Goodyearforthe · 14/12/2025 12:15

Geranium879 · 11/12/2025 22:26

Oh I’ll definitely be buying fakes

Don't buy the fakes! I saw a programme about them and they showed you all the dangerous parts of them coming off, toxic materials and stuff. I didn't watch closely as my kids are grown up now but they are seizing a large haul pf counterfeits now. Also as someone else said the kids will probably know. Maybe just get 1 real one with some themes accessories and say she can get the next one on birthday, next Christmas etc and hopefully by next year she'll have grown out of it? Also any palm one off onto another family member if asking for a gift? Good luck!

Someone who wants them now, not in three months time?

Bjorkdidit · 15/12/2025 06:02

But it says 4-7 working days standard delivery on the official site?

Geranium879 · 12/12/2025 09:39

I’ve just opened my other daughters Xmas list and she wants a four man tent 🤣🤣

My daughter wanted a live unicorn when she was about 8. I found the biggest toy unicorn I could (it was huge) put it as Santa present with a note to say it only came alive when everyone asleep 😂

Some times you can't get them every they want exactly and actually it's quite a good lesson to compromise

DoraDont · 15/12/2025 16:47

Thanks for this thread, it reminded me that my daughter wanted a 'Big into Energy' Labubu, ordered last week and arrived Saturday.

I am usually very po faced about this kind of social media led trend, and my 11yo doesn't have any social media yet, (so it's just what she picks up via friends), but even we went a bit Labubu crazy in the summer to the extent that I was entering the Popmart weekly lotteries to try and 'win' the opportunity to buy one, and managed to get two. I did question my sanity, as it became surprisingly addictive.

I wouldn't buy a six pack, but £18 for a single Labubu isn't particularly excessive, no different to craze for Jellycats or Ty Beanie Babies is it really?

JoannaTheYodelingCowgirl · 15/12/2025 16:52

My two eldest daughters bloody love these things but i think theyre ugly as sin. DD10 calls the fake ones lafufus and shes sniffed them out at markets before when ive pointed them out to her. I got her a real macaron one from game, but just the one, asking for six is just greedy

b&m sell kimmons which are kinda similar to labubus but half the price, DD15 already has a coca cola labubu and said she actually prefers the kimmons to the labubus so i got her a couple of kimmons instead.

I understand that usually the official stockist runs out really quickly, often selling out all their stock in a day. After that happens, people pay crazy money to get them from other sources.

My guess is that some stores which aren’t official stockists, buy up lots of the stock from the official one, assuming that they will be able to sell it at inflated prices when the official one runs out. But it doesn’t seem to have worked with this series, because Pop Mart appear to still have them in stock, presumably having bought loads anticipating a Christmas rush that hasn’t quite happened in the way they expected?

Thats what i said to her, shes 10 years old why does she need skincare and she said "because i want to have perfect skin, all my friends are doing it and they say if you get into a good routine you wont get wrinkles when you get older"

I am NOT getting her skincare stuff for xmas, she wont be happy but i think shes too young for that crap
