Child wants a “6 pack of Labubu” for Xmas and I haven’t got a clue

I’m just starting my Xmas shopping … I know I know… my 6 year old has put this on her xmas list. They’re ugly little dolls right? A six pack… she must mean small ones. I can only find keyrings. She’s also written “Labubu pencil case”… why aren’t there any Labubu things on Amazon?! Please help!

I did not expect 6 key rings to be so expensive 😮

what about this … she will not care if the boxes are opened . I can put some nice tape over or something… but I know she won’t care anyway . Does this look okay ? It says all six included

These will be absolutely fine, I’d snap them up!

BeQuirkyMintScroller · 12/12/2025 07:00

not gonna lie - when i heard the word "Labubu" in various places i thought it was a daft nickname influencers had given to Laboutin red soled shoes 😂

Think-
"I'm obsessed with my Labubus"

Bit like what they did with the word deluded -> delulu

DavidPeckham · 12/12/2025 07:23

See here for the dangers of buying a knock off labubu. (Some spicy language).

I wouldnt be buying in to this shite, those things are horrible.

Well, yes but didn’t you ever want anything as a kid just because it was the “in” thing?

I don’t know why people have to be so judgey about it. If you don’t like them that’s fine, but don’t be so mean about someone trying to get something for their child for Christmas that their child really wants. It’s all just a bit of fun really, it’s not hurting anyone.

Geranium879 · 12/12/2025 08:07

Child doesn’t watch YouTube so must have got it from school …. Where it probably came from YouTube originally I suppose ! chat went well. She said “do you think he could manage to get me a pink and yellow one ?” So I’m going to try and find a genuine, already opened pink and yellow one. She seems to know this exists and , from what people have said about the blind bags and six packs, this may be why she asked for the full set (to ensure getting that specific one). Should only cost me £20 or so so I don’t think this is particularly decadent or spoiling! And of course …. a small extra bonus present ! Thanks all.

oh the BBQ - yes it was a Playdoh one she wanted 🙈

Tbh I'm quite tempted to buy myself one and I'm 36 😅.

We (mostly) all had something like this - the furbies, the Pokémon cards/games, Ty beanie babies (god knows how much my parents spent on those, they never did end up actually valuable!). I've spent £40 on bluey stuff for my toddler...

I hear all the comments about spoiled, value for money etc, but is Christmas day really the time for those lessons? And if we all really evaluated what we spend our money on it wouldn't come out much better (Chanel perfume I bought the other day? Mark up must be colossal. The package etc only feels luxe because I've been socially conditioned to feel like it does. Bet the ingredients ain't that pricey). Labubu might feel very worth the money to her.

In your shoes, I'd buy her one real one, the pencil case and perhaps some cheap jammies.

They are horrible. I can’t believe I’m having to spend my money on this shite!

thanks for all the help.

It’s been making me think thank god my kids are grown up. If I had young girls I’d have to be buying this shit as well and it would be painful handing the money over. I wouldn't, though, get fakes unless they are very very good as kids can be horrible and taunting at that age if they see their friend has a fake.

I have two and I’m 45 😳😂🙈 - they sit on my bedside table. Dh and Ds aged 13 hate them but my dd aged 22 loves them as well (I’ve got her one for Christmas).

But then I’m a bit of a weird old nerd. I love collecting stuff. I didn’t have a good childhood (very abusive) and missed out on a lot of the fun stuff so now, with some disposable income and a bit of time on my hands I enjoy the various trends and childlike stuff. Who cares.

Op I hope you manage to get the ones your dd wants.

If you check popmart Here, you will see labubu themed merch. 6 refers to full series , if you click on individual labubu you have an option to choose one or series.

You can choose one box but you can’t choose a specific one. The mystery of not knowing which one you get is part of the whole thing for most people. (If you buy the set you do get the whole set).

MissDoubleU · 12/12/2025 08:22

Surely you don’t have to get her all 6? Christmas lists are suggestions - requests even. it doesn’t mean they’ll always get everything they write down as is written

OutOfVecnasReach · 12/12/2025 08:24

I’m sure it’s already been said but if I were you (keeping in mind that I don’t know your personal budget!) is buy her one real labubu from popmart. That way you know it’s real and not a fake, she can put it on her bag knowing it’s real etc.
Then don’t bother getting the fake lafufus, instead I would head to home bargains, buy her a few bits like a notebook, they have pjs with them on etc

I've seen some fakes in some of the pound shops, different colours, but not in boxes. Not too bad looking.

Fad toys go back many decades though, it’s not a new thing by any means. The thing is, when you’re a child these fads are important, but as adults we know it’s nonsense. A child’s worldview is very different and it mortified me as a child at school not having the ‘right’ thing, having a knock off version etc that wouldn’t bother me at all as an adult. I do agree these items are horrible and someone is laughing all the way to the bank, but there’s always going to be a school playground fad. I would buy if my child really wanted one for Christmas if they were young.

Although having said adults know fads are nonsense there were an awful lot of adults who bought (literally and figuratively) into the Stanley cup obsession 😬

No, i just dont get the hype or the need to tie myself up in knots over stuff that you'll be chucking in the charity shop by the summer.

If you want to do it, crack on but come on, have you seen the prices of these ugly little things? Who decided this crap is worth that kind of money? Nearly £300 for 6 keyrings? Really?

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 12/12/2025 08:30

I've never heard of it either, so I'd get her a '6 pack of Stella Artois' - she probably won't be able to taste the difference.

But it’s all relative isn’t it? Personally I’d never spend more than (for example) £80ish on a handbag because I just don’t really care about them, (insert whatever thing someone is into), but someone else would spend £3000 and think that was fine! We all like different things. Sure it’s not going to change the world, it’s really not that deep, but if people like them let them get on with it.

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 12/12/2025 05:54

Buying one isn’t that expensive. Plus it’s Christmas! Why would you deliberately not get the thing she’s asked for?

That seems incredibly controlling.

Agree. There are some very harsh suggestions on this thread.
Christmas is different, not the time for weighty lessons and comeuppance.

Be warned with the fakes the kids can spot them a mile away.

My Youngest has no labubu’s yet she can tell
me how the legit one have 5 teeth or whatever and the fakes don’t, the eyes are different.

Much muttering in the playground over lafufu’s as they are calling the fakes.

Wow.
That is amazing.
I'm a retired primary school teacher & I must admit that children are very astute about branding. Thankfully labubu dolls were not around during my time in the classroom.

OneCleverPinkFawn · 12/12/2025 08:48

I've never heard of those, I'd assume 6 individual ones
