I’m just starting my Xmas shopping … I know I know… my 6 year old has put this on her xmas list. They’re ugly little dolls right? A six pack… she must mean small ones. I can only find keyrings. She’s also written “Labubu pencil case”… why aren’t there any Labubu things on Amazon?! Please help!

Home bargains for labubus ( knock off) and I certainly wouldn’t be paying for real ones.

Wow.
That is amazing.
I'm a retired primary school teacher & I must admit that children are very astute about branding. Thankfully labubu dolls were not around during my time in the classroom.

Children can be really cruel.

When I was about 10 my Mum got me Matchstick trainers instead of the LA Gear ones I was desperate for (my parents weren’t short of money, they just didn’t agree with the need for brands etc, like many posters on this thread) and everytime I walked into the gym after getting changed for PE everyone would tease me and say “ooooo matchstick” and laugh. It was just horrible. To my Mum black trainers were black trainers but to other children they absolutely knew the difference. Of course if you can’t afford the brands dc want that’s a whole different issue (been there myself and it’s so hard) but I think a lot of people just don’t understand how important certain things are to dc.

CuriousKangaroo · 12/12/2025 08:54

I imagine your DD wants this: https://m.popmart.com/gb/products/the-monsters-big-into-energy-series-vinyl-plush-pendant-blind-box/3bd2b923-383d-4461-a8ab-10383fd1125e It’s the full series. But you can buy individual ones for £18 each if you want to just buy her one.

Popmart is the official seller and ironically it’s cheaper to buy from them than lots of other stores.

Tons of Labubu on Vinted.

Hi, so I established that the one she wants is called “Loyalty” and got one off eBay. Thank you for the offer but I’m sorted now.

Thank god that’s sorted !

We were at a friend's house and their nine-year-old was showing us a Labubu doll, had heard of them but had no idea what they were so nice to put a face to the name so to speak! I can't say I was very impressed but I also remember being desperate for similarly awful toys for Christmas when I was a kid so wanting over-priced rubbish for Christmas is as much of a tradition as mistletoe and mince pies I guess!
It is our wonderful 11-month-old's first Christmas so we haven't bought her much, partially because she will be getting lots of presents from friends and family and partially because she won't care! I guess we should enjoy these first low-pressure Christmases where she doesn't really have a concept of what's going on and no strong ideas about what gifts she wants!
Best of luck OP, I hope you manage to find something suitable without having to spend a fortune and I will count myself lucky that it will hopefully be a couple of years before I'm in your situation!

Geranium879 · 11/12/2025 22:29

Oh no! This is a nightmare. Well I can’t get her six real ones .. I don’t know how much they are but probably £££££

You don't have to get your child everything they ask for!

Geranium879 · 12/12/2025 09:39

I’ve just opened my other daughters Xmas list and she wants a four man tent 🤣🤣

They are ghastly a nd will end up at the back of the toy cupboard within weeks just in time for the next. 'must have'.

PrettyPickle · 12/12/2025 09:55

Geranium879 · 11/12/2025 22:26

Oh I’ll definitely be buying fakes

I wouldn't they are dangerous, the eyes pop out and the head is frequently held on with a spike.

Probably cheaper than a 6 pack of Lububus 😂❤️

Fairnair · 12/12/2025 10:05

Glad you have it sorted OP. I was born early 1970’s, and the only items I can remember children wanting were Mr Frosty, rubix cubes, slinky springs, Tiny Tears dolls, Action Men, and later on Cabbage Patch dolls.

myhaggisblewup · 12/12/2025 10:12

Give these ghastly things 5/6 months and charity shops will be overwhelmed with them.
Telly tubbies and cabbage patch dolls just to name some, were on mass in my local ones 3 months after they came out and the fad died down.

JustSawJohnny · 12/12/2025 10:18

Not sure if anyone else has mentioned this (NTTRTFT) but Home Bargains have some Labubu themed bits in - PJ's, stationery etc.

IsThisTheWaytoSlamMyPillow · 12/12/2025 10:30

I’m another saying get ONE genuine one because if kids can tell, they’ll be quick to point out a fake. There’s always one (mean) kid who enjoys pointing stuff like this out. Some might even try and say a genuine is a fake but at least you’ll both know it’s not.

Then get some of the other items like PJs, pens/pencils and socks that have the image on.

In the excitement of Christmas she won’t moan ‘but I wanted siiiixxxx’ and be disappointed - come the day I’m sure most can’t remember their list!

Princessconsuelabananahammock9 · 12/12/2025 05:54

Buying one isn’t that expensive. Plus it’s Christmas! Why would you deliberately not get the thing she’s asked for?

That seems incredibly controlling.

I think it depends on your budget and your kid. If you know they’ll likely be underwhelmed after a couple of days and you have limited funds sometimes it’s not the best idea to buy a shitty trendy thing just because that is what they requested. If you have plenty of budget &/or they are likely to enjoy the thing then it’s worth it even if a bit rubbish. My 9 year old was desperate for a Sephora advent calendar as lots of her friends have been on trips to the shop and she’s decided it’s the cool in thing. When they heavily discounted the mid tier one so with a code I had it was about £50 I thought sod it she can have it as it usually costs about £35-40 for the ones I make them anyway. Switched out a number of inappropriate items to add some little toys and a couple of bath bits I had as spares from making her sister’s and my mum’s calendars. She’s now feeling a tiny bit cheated vs the wholly homemade one and it’s probably been a good lesson that getting exactly what you thought you wanted isn’t always as much fun as you expect. If £50 was half my budget though I’d have been a lot more cautious. Also honestly I thought she might really enjoy it so it seemed worth a gamble. There are many things they’ve requested over the years I haven’t bought though. I always make it clear they will get a few things from a list and a few surprises. They like the surprises to the point I barely get a list now 😂

Americasfavouritefightingfrenchman · 12/12/2025 10:46

Just read your updates. Good luck with the tent OP! It’s too late now but for other years the list being bigger and something you get some items from might help avoid being cornered into feeling like you have to get specific items?

BettysRoasties · 12/12/2025 10:56

For the tent unless you are already big campers try and get a cheapish bundle package. Halfords or Argos can be good for camping in the garden little type tents that you can get with sleeping bags as a set.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 12/12/2025 08:07

Tbh I'm quite tempted to buy myself one and I'm 36 😅.

We (mostly) all had something like this - the furbies, the Pokémon cards/games, Ty beanie babies (god knows how much my parents spent on those, they never did end up actually valuable!). I've spent £40 on bluey stuff for my toddler...

I hear all the comments about spoiled, value for money etc, but is Christmas day really the time for those lessons? And if we all really evaluated what we spend our money on it wouldn't come out much better (Chanel perfume I bought the other day? Mark up must be colossal. The package etc only feels luxe because I've been socially conditioned to feel like it does. Bet the ingredients ain't that pricey). Labubu might feel very worth the money to her.

In your shoes, I'd buy her one real one, the pencil case and perhaps some cheap jammies.

We did... but asides from the card packs which were blind (but relatively cheap), you could see what you were getting, the gambling element wasn't there.

Er @Geranium879 did she want the keyring/bag pendant size or the larger size, as the wrong one will be devastating of course. Not sure everyones realised that the £279 six pack is a larger sized doll vs the £108 six pack which is keyring/bag pendant sized.

You don't have to get your child everything they ask for!

As for the pp who said it was 'controlling' not to buy what the child asked for.
FFS we love our kids BUT they do not get to guilt trip their parents /carers in that way.
Give it a few weeks after christmas and this will be in the bin because a new trend has some along and the thing you spent ££s on is 'boring and sooo lame'.
It's kids being kids and fomo.

Oneborneverydecade · 12/12/2025 06:56

They're only available Pop Mart and a few high end retailers, I'm surprised you wouldn't know they were fake.

I bought them from a wholesaler and at the time didn't know anything about them. That's my problem but I never put them on sale as I found out days later and wouldn't put any child at risk.

I made a mistake as I don't usually stock child related items but I corrected that mistake straight away by not selling them.

Home bargains for labubus ( knock off) and I certainly wouldn’t be paying for real ones.

I would rather buy one real one and then some unofficial themed merch like pj’s, notebooks etc.
