Child wants a “6 pack of Labubu” for Xmas and I haven’t got a clue

I’m just starting my Xmas shopping … I know I know… my 6 year old has put this on her xmas list. They’re ugly little dolls right? A six pack… she must mean small ones. I can only find keyrings. She’s also written “Labubu pencil case”… why aren’t there any Labubu things on Amazon?! Please help!

Honestly OP don't get into this, use this as an opportunity to instill some resistance to consumerism in your child. Once you start chasing pointless highs from expensive purchases there is no end to it and a 6 year old should be protected from being indoctrinated into the spendy cult.

AllTheChaos · 11/12/2025 22:55

How much?!?! Dear Lord they cost a fortune!!

Lillylou1234 · 11/12/2025 22:55

Home bargains have some pjs, note books and fake Stanley’s with them on that are lovely!

what about this … she will not care if the boxes are opened . I can put some nice tape over or something… but I know she won’t care anyway . Does this look okay ? It says all six included

Oh I’ll definitely be buying fakes

Don't buy fakes they are dangerous. I've got a bag full of them I bought for my shop. I didn't know they were fake, found out a few days later and refuse to sell them I'd rather loose money than put kids at risk.

Ophy83 · 11/12/2025 22:58

I'd just get her one genuine one from pop mart - that gives her street cred, she can attach it to her bag. And you still have money left to get her something that you like!

BettysRoasties · 11/12/2025 22:28

Be warned with the fakes the kids can spot them a mile away.

My Youngest has no labubu’s yet she can tell
me how the legit one have 5 teeth or whatever and the fakes don’t, the eyes are different.

Much muttering in the playground over lafufu’s as they are calling the fakes.

This is actually very helpful info as DD has asked for both a Labubu AND a Lafufu on her list and I had no clue what the difference was 😂.

Geranium879 · 11/12/2025 22:59

I think I’ve left it a bit late to start trying to instill lessons… I should have paid more attention when she was writing her list. I did however manage to talk her out of the hoverboard. But I had no idea what a Labubu was when I let this particular request be committed to paper

They are selling the fake ones in Lidl this week for 3.99.

lifeonmars100 · 11/12/2025 23:03

Love the drawing of the reindeer ❤

gogomomo2 · 11/12/2025 23:03

About to say Lidl has knock off ones and unlike online retailers they will need to conform to trading standards, however if they are marked as not a toy, they won’t be tested like toys

Sasha07 · 11/12/2025 23:04

No idea about the creepy little doll things but her reindeer drawing is awesome! So cute! 🦌

BeanQuisine · 11/12/2025 23:06

Nasty little fuckers. How do children end up craving such creatures?

I know, advertising and peer pressure.

IntrinsicWorth · 11/12/2025 23:07

A hoverboard would be much better than those stupid dolls although she may be a tad young. Those dolls are pointless, worthless, valueless, slightly sinister things. £106 for a pack of something that probably cost less than £5 to manufacture and ship. Obscene. Santa has run out of those and you’ve heard he doesn’t like them much because they are probably made by poor children who aren’t themselves getting any Christmas presents.

of course it’s easy to say this now mine are older but I wish I’d taken a much firmer line. Stuff like this doesn't bring true joy or even meaningfully contribute to children feeling heard and seen.

The more you meet their wants and wishes, the more wants and wishes are coming down the line. Obviously you need to meet some of your children’s wants and wishes, and let them feel heard, but this is at your discretion and dependent on your budget.

Nomsdeplume · 11/12/2025 23:07

What about just getting one at £18 from Popmart? No fakes and she doesn’t need more than one dangling from her bag anyway

lifeonmars100 · 11/12/2025 23:08

A friend of mine's teenager is into them and from my very limited knowledge the real ones cost a lot so I would be on the look out for convincing fakes. They are the most odd looking things but what do I know!

Livelaughlurgy · 11/12/2025 23:08

This is reminding me of the Christmas I came down to see a bike and was THRILLED. Imagine Santa got me a bike. And dm was bewildered saying "but you asked for a Raleigh bluebird.... this is in your list" I hadn't a breeze what it was.

SheinIsShite · 11/12/2025 23:08

Geranium879 · 11/12/2025 22:26

I wouldn’t. There was a piece on tv this morning about how dangerous the fakes are with eyes coming off.

RosyappleA · 11/12/2025 23:08

I told DD that they are all out of stock and hopefully Santa will be able to find one for her (not the ten she asked for). I got a couple of them on hype locker uk. Luckily she doesn’t really seem to want much this xmas.

Wantachangebutwhat · 11/12/2025 23:09

I got ours at around €5 at the market, fake obviously but she says are real (have same number of teeth etc) they’re horrible little things, hoping this phase passes quickly

AmyDudley · 11/12/2025 23:11

How can manufacturers justify charging so much for those ? They look like something you'd get from a grab machine in an arcade.

CatFaceCatFace · 11/12/2025 23:12

My DD is getting one labubu for Christmas, I got it from their tiktok shop for £18ish. She already has one from an actual popmart shop, apparently those are the only two places you can guarantee they're genuine. I think they're pretty easy to get now the hype is dying down.

This is a good idea . I’ll try saying this in the morning… I agree that one hideous doll is better than six.

£279?!!!

But odd they are more at Sports Direct than their official retailer.

Needmorelego · 11/12/2025 22:34

Here's a similar product from The Range.
So these aren't "fake" Labubu but just a similar style toy.
They might be ok...
(picture incoming)
I've seen similar in The Works too.

You have to be careful with the Range online as a lot of their items are 'marketplace' items from third party sellers so you can end up with something crap and fake. I think sports direct also have third party sellers.

I would reccomend only getting them directly from Pop mart.
