What has happened to Andrex?? It’s so flimsy and yet expensive!! My friend suggested Aldi brand but they didn’t have any in stock today. Please share the brand that you recommend!

Is anyone surprised given UK energy is the most costly in the world!

Toilet paper is HUGELY energy intensive to manufacture.

Pulping, forming, rolling, heat intensive drying, cutting and packing.

Speaking from experience , manufacturers are trying every way they can to maintain quality and cut costs because energy prices have stung them.

Don’t just look at sheets per roll, also the height of rolls has decreased and the inner tubes are larger on some.
Sainsburys softest quilted used here. £4 for 9 rolls. £3.50 on Nectar atm. Very much like original Andrex Quilts.

and Waitrose classic ultra soft

So glad Waitrose brought this back after customer pressure!

Anyone remember as children helping to choose what colour of Andrex toilet paper to buy in the supermarket?

Costco Kirkland Triple Satin. It's longer, stronger and softer than any other brand I've tried, and significantly cheaper. Nicer bum feel than both Sainsbury's and Andrex.

Velvet 18 packs can normally be found cheap, £6 where I am. By far the best value proposition. Thicker than standard andrex, a bit softer, and obviously much cheaper. Not triple ply, but this wasn't an issue when I switched from triple ply at all.

I buy Ocado's own brand- strong enough but not quilty so it won't flush. £3 for 12 rolls.

Ocado the tree ply, overall I save money because my little one use less. Aldi ones are my second reference.

Tiktok shop is ver good for bulk buying. 3 or 4 ply and so reasonable. Maybe £20 for over six months worth. Get kitchen roll on there too.

My fave is Sainsbury toilet roll. It's soft, strong and flushes away well.
For years I used Tesco toilet roll but it became flimsy and brittle so stopped buying it.
Sainsbury roll is also cheaper than Tesco too.

I used nakedpaper (used to be nakedsprout) unbleached, I order 96 at a time they deliver. Not cheap but good quality
