What has happened to Andrex?? It’s so flimsy and yet expensive!! My friend suggested Aldi brand but they didn’t have any in stock today. Please share the brand that you recommend!

Cuddle from tiktok. umder £25 for 120 rolls

IsThisACrazyThoughtDec25 · 10/12/2025 21:05

Who Gives A Crap rolls are superb. Plus double length and donate to charity

If you have to use a lot to get your bum clean, it’s not saving you money.

I doubt I use any more than I would if it was fancy stuff tbh.

Aldi loo roll is brilliant! The one I picked is strong and also makes my bathroom smell beautiful! I picked it up by mistake last time and as soon as I realised it was scented, I thought oh, no! Thrush city here we come! But no, it's lovely, very lightly scented and doesn't cause me any issues at all. I'm sorry I can't remember the name!

MoonWoman69 · 10/12/2025 22:24

I see people referring to Izal that we had at school! It wasn't porous, so everything slid off it and you ended up with a hand covered in wee!
Scary, but my maternal grandmother had a porcelain holder on the wall in the bathroom for Izal! There was normal toilet paper too, but she used to buy Izal as well. Then again, she was a sadomasochist so that figures!

reversegear · 10/12/2025 22:25

We buy “what the crap” online, huge boxes arrive loads of offers and it’s such great quality paper. To be fair it’s me and 3 boys/ men in the house so it lasts a while here.

soontobeamama · 10/12/2025 22:33

We buy the Nicky brand which you can get in Home Bargains or Savers - think it’s only about £4.99 for 18 rolls and is great quality.

bizkittt · 10/12/2025 22:49

I like the Andrex in the pink wrapping. Fairly decent price on Amazon. Similar price to “cheap” brands. It’s not thick but nice and soft. Some of the thicker toilet rolls are like using printer paper on your arse.

Chinsupmeloves · 10/12/2025 22:50

I just get the most for the best price now. I have weaned myself off the luxury 3 ply plus ones as at the end of the day they all do the same job!

Some of the scented ones are so strong i feel like the chemicals aren't needed down there. Xxx

longtompot · 10/12/2025 22:52

We have been buying this for at least the past year and pretty much always reliable

I do like Waitrose own brand coconut loo roll, but only because it gently scents the bathroom, though it is good loo paper. Just expensive.

BIossomtoes · 10/12/2025 22:52

Andrex Mega is far better quality than their other products.

Bungle2168 · 10/12/2025 22:59

Bring back Izal, I say.

Beeinalily · 10/12/2025 23:01

Regina Soft Bamboo is very good and not too dear.
@Bungle2168 you are a total masochist.

sleepylittlebunnies · 10/12/2025 23:03

We buy Aldi 12 pack of Softest premium 3 ply double rolls for £4.99. They are soft, and strong and last ages

Milliemoons · 10/12/2025 23:03

I bought a handheld electric bidet and never looked back.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 10/12/2025 23:03

I noticed that about Andrex earlier this year. I’ve switched to Cushelle.

Newnamesameme · 10/12/2025 23:05

Okiedokie123 · 10/12/2025 00:03

Tescos cheapest. Anything fancy just to wipe my behind seems like a massive waste of money to me.

I so agree with this. Our plumbing is shite and the toilet blocks easily so andrex would be a disaster

Lolapusht · 10/12/2025 23:09

Kirkland from Costco.

Best ever.

SwimmingFree · 10/12/2025 23:09

Costco membership is worth it for the Kirkland signature toilet paper

Not at all. Dirt cheap because using more than one sheet at a time was unbearable.

WhatterySquash · 10/12/2025 23:15

Cushelle tubeless - I never bought branded toilet paper until my v frugal elderly auntie recommended it and she’s right, it lasts ages and you don’t need to take so many sheets as it’s thick. Also it’s usually on offer somewhere.

ClarafromHR · 10/12/2025 23:19

My favourite is Tesco own brand double rolls. I have tried others but always go back to these. Sainsbury’s are good too but there isn’t a branch near me.
I’ve tried Who Gives a Crap but they were made in China and I do try to buy UK made products if I can.

Copperoliverbear · 10/12/2025 23:22

I really don’t like Andrex the roll is half it’s usual size and the paper is hard, I have who gives a crap bamboo toilet rolls delivered every two months, they’re soft and the rolls are a lot larger.

Gibstub · 11/12/2025 04:45

Aldi brand.

I've only bought andrex in emergencies.
It's always been rubbish. You just pay for all that advertising.
