To say that most people in the UK want illegal immigration to stop

1000 replies

Sleepysleepycoffeecoffee · 06/12/2025 10:12

I recently commented on a Facebook post to say the majority of British people are against illegal immigration. I was asked by several other users what survey I based that opinion on. I responded with the question ‘do you think most people want illegal immigration to continue then? Because if not, then surely they want it to stop?’ I didn’t receive any responses to that.
Without getting into any political arguments or name calling and giving no ifs, buts or reasons for your view, please vote as follows.

YABU - I want illegal immigration to continue.
YANBU - I don’t want illegal immigration to continue.

Ah, so you don't mean illegal immigrants at all.

You mean people legally applying for asylum.

There is no requirement that they stop in the first safe country, there are good reasons for that -they may have ties to this country already - if they did that, then some countries would be absolutely swamped and others not taking anywhere near their 'fair share' - the first country they come to might not actually be safe for them, it may be too close!

There is no way to apply for asylum here until you are here. YOu have to get here first.

The actual illegal immigrants are the people who applied for the wrong visa on purpose, ie a tourist visa when they had no intention of going home, or a dodgy student visa, and the people who did originally intend to go home and then ... didn't, but did not do the right thing in order to stay legitimately.

Those are (broad generalisation coming, seat belts please) the people in your local cheap takeaway, your convenient carwash, your little local nailbar etc...

oh come on, we take more than our fair share for a small island

They are bigger countries and we have so much legal migration as well.

And some of the people who have found asylum here would be dead if they hadn't escaped their country of origin. Why should they be denied safety because of the actions of a tiny minority? Every life is valuable.

Because their rights should not be put above the rights of British people in Britain. We can’t save everyone and nor should we try

Sweden has a population of one seventh of that of the UK and they take more asylum seekers than we do.

So not so populated in the first place.

Yeah bet you’d be totally on board with that policy if it was you and your family at risk of war or natural disaster. I bet you’d trample over others to get to the front of the queue.

I’m sure alot of them return home when it suits so not convinced

a lot of them are playing the UK

Notadame · 06/12/2025 16:43

I personally could not give less of a shit about illegal immigration.

Of all the things in the world that bother me, it doesn't even make the top 100.

Okay? And? If I offered you a packet of biscuits and only some were laced with ricin, how many would you have?

If the UK were at risk of war, I'd expect the men of the country at very least to fight for a better future

Bizarre way to look at it given any human being from any background of any nation is capable of terrible things. Maybe just cull humanity altogether if that's the way you look at it.

I’m looking forward to it 🤗

I voted YABU
Because your definition of illegal immigration is wrong. Asylum seekers are in the U.K. legally. They’ve entered the country the ONLY WAY someone seeking asylum can - you can’t seek asylum if you’ve entered on a visa for example.
If you have an issue with the less than 50.000 people who arrive in the U.K. with the small
boats, go and see Nigel Farage. Brexit brought us there.
Also because illegal immigration in the Uk is never about those who overstay. I’m not even sure the HO even has an idea of how many people there are. But they’re certainly not trying to tackle it. Some industries used illegal
migrants a lot. It’s well known. It allows them to pay people less than MW, work in awful conditions etc…. But somehow that’s ok. Economy isn’t it?

And lastly you’re clearly stressed
and wind up by the whole thing. Something that’s not affecting you directly, unless you’re living very close to One of the hotels where asylums seekers are ‘parked’.
the illegal immigrants? You probably see some everyday. They can’t use the NHS, or get benefits (because they need to show their visa!) so aren’t a ‘drain on our finances’. I doubt they’re causing you much problems.

lastly, if you have issues with immigration, please also remember this is the consequence of the Empire. That’s why people want to come to the U.K. rather than Italy, France or Germany. Just like a lot of people from Africa aim for France (NOT the U.K.), Turkish people to Germany etc….

Their rights are not put “above” the rights of British people.

What gave you that (amusingly dunce-tier) idea ?

Another dunce-tier take.

That analogy applies to literally everyone. Not exclusively to asylum seekers.

Well, looking around at the average British man, this is by far the biggest joke I’ve heard this year. Most of them would be using their wives as human shields if we had a war. The days of war heroes are long gone.

MorningActivity · 06/12/2025 16:59

Sleepysleepycoffeecoffee · 06/12/2025 16:35

Because their rights should not be put above the rights of British people in Britain. We can’t save everyone and nor should we try

1- id be interested to know what tights you think they have than Brits don’t.
2- seeing the number of asylum seekers Britain actually welcome, the U.K. is NOWHERE near accepting everyone.
The countries that are welcoming the most asylum seekers/immigrants? That’s the neighbouring countries. Aka the poorest countries in Africa and Asia. That’s the camps etc….
And even if you’re comparing to other EU countries, the U.K. is still at the bottom
ifbthe table in how many people it welcomes. France and Germany are taking on many more of them.

Yep. Those posts are full of disinformation designed to skew the low-intelligence / gullible people to vote for oligarch parties like Reform who only want power in order to further entrench their hold on wealth and perpetuate global inequality.

What those low-intelligence gullible people fail to realise is that the asylum seekers are as much victims of the oligarch globalist turbo-capitalism as they are.

When you try to extract infinite growth from a finite planet, someone or something will be exploited.

It’s the lads coming over on boats looking for a better life. And it’s also you, wondering why everything constantly gets more expensive. And it’s the planet, choking on microplastics, greenhouse gases, and chemical pollution.

@Sleepysleepycoffeecoffee want immigrants that do all the jobs British people don’t want to do (carers, fruit pickers etc…) whilst never seen them And if possible sending them somewhere in the middle of nowhere. But they still need to contribute, work, pay lots of taxes (and i
imagine not ever get any benefits from
that, like a pension after working 35 years in
the U.K.).
😁😁

Sleepysleepycoffeecoffee · 06/12/2025 14:19

Generally speaking, yes. I haven’t heard any news about protesters attacking young women and girls

There’s currently various protests being held in Scotland and there was a rather interesting BBC Disclosure program that aired last week. At least 1 of the organisers of a few protests had been charged with domestic violence and a few others had a colourful criminal past. It’s hilarious that they claim to be trying to protect women and children yet they’re been proved as the perpetrators of domestic violence.
