Is there anyone on here who voted Labour who is genuinely happy with how things are going

I didn’t vote Labour, but was actually quite excited. We needed change, now I dint think that at all and although Tories weren’t great in many respects, this shit show feels worse! I’m so tired of our politicians just not doing what is best for the country and having to curtail to babk benchers/unions, lining their own pockets and wardrobes and generally just being untrustworthy.
i have no doubt Farage will get in next time, and it will be Keir’s fault.

I am disillusioned with them all too, have always voted Labour but fed up with their incompetence and lies. Have no idea who to vote for any more, have no faith in any of the major parties.

Iwishicouldflyhigh · 01/12/2025 08:35

Ive always been anti reform, but honestly starting my to think they deserve a chance. I’m actually so depressed by it all.

I think he's doing ok. Workers rights are being pushed up the agenda again. Why is it his fault if Reform get in ?
Reform are making a right mess of the councils they're running, Farage barely does/did his role as a MP/ MEP.

cooliebrown · 01/12/2025 08:43

I not only voted Labour, I also knocked on doors, delivered leaflets, stuffed envelopes for them at the last election.

I am very unhappy with the way things are going so far. A very great disappointment.

We did manage to elect a very good young Labour MP in our constituency but, unless things change with the Government, he's very likely to get wiped out at the next election, and we'll probably have a reform MP.

Honestly, you think he’s doing ok? I’m honestly amazed that anyone thinks that.

What did people expect, with the utter shitshow that was inherited by them?

arethereanyleftatall · 01/12/2025 08:46

The budget last week was the worst in living memory for me. I have since looked on entitled.to and discovered I would have the EXACT same money whether I work or not. It should surely be a no brainer to everyone that if you are able to, you should actually be paid for going to work?

Onlyontuesday · 01/12/2025 08:47

I'm happy with them but think they are awful at communicating what they do. Change takes time and the country's resources and infrastructure are in the pits.

They are doing good work in reducing NHS waiting times.

We have the fastest growing economy in the G7 and falling interest rates.

Immigration is down from 640k last year to 204k.

I think the farmer's inheritance tax and private school taxes were fair. The most budget hasn't benefitted us personally (both higher rate tax payers) but it has been received well by the markets.

I do wish they had managed the PIP and WFA reforms.

i just wanted what we were told to expect.

how is this less of a shit show than the Tories?

This can no longer be their argument. Last week they decided to give MORE money out in benefits to those not working or only part time. That helps with the shitshow zero.

Octavia64 · 01/12/2025 08:55

I voted Labour.

i wouldn’t say I’m happy but I wouldn’t say I’m unhappy.

the impact of Covid and the Ukraine war on in particular healthcare, education and hospitality businesses was always going to be brutal.

the oil price shock of 1973 took about five or six years to work through the system and Covid plus Ukraine delivered a much bigger inflationary jolt plus big big challenges in terms of mental health and burnout/retiring of people who were working in it.

i actually think they are managing a really, really shitty situation quite well.

Do you think Reform are trustworthy? Bothered by all of Farages appearances on Russia today, his defence of Putin and their Welsh leader being sent to prison for Russian bribes?

News outlets owned by billionaires (daily mail, telegraph, the sun) are always going to try and push against a Labour government. They will want reform or the tories in so they can get further tax breaks and continue raking it in while contributing so little.

Migration fell overall (mainly due to restrictions on students being able to bring family over-which I believe was introduced by Tories). Asylum migration did not fall, it made up 11% of all migration and is double what it was in 2019.

the migration picture as a whole is not positive. There are less people getting skilled worker visas and a higher share of refugees.

the economic impact of migration isn’t how many of migrating, but who is migrating.

We were told to expect some unpopular decisions. Did you not hear that?

No I don’t think he is, but thought Keir was and now his party are showing they are not trustworthy (Angela, Rachel). So actually, they are all lying bastards!!!!!

What did you expect? Right at the beginning of this parliament Starmer said his government would be unpopular initially and sure enough it is. He also told us it would take two terms to correct some of the damage inflicted in the previous 14 years. Anyone who expects to see that improvement after 17 months is completely unrealistic and if they think Reform’s the answer they’re away with the fairies.

And we accepted that-at the last budget when we were told ‘The slate is now clean’.

It's a perfectly relevant argument.

What did people expect, with the utter shitshow that was inherited by them?

This. Additionally, we no longer have the mega rich lining their pockets and their mates with corrupt deals. Have you really forgotten the covid PPE scandals, the Truss budget and Johnson's bumbling say-whatever-they-want-to-hear-they-wont-care-about-the-truth patronizing smarminess?
Starmer and co haven't waved a magic twinkly wand to put everything right. There isn't one. Imo, they are more ordinary people, trying to steady and incredibly wobbly ship.
Honestly, Farage won't lead a united country into prosperity. He's another mega rich, big-on-personality, small on ideas person, driven by negativity and the desire for power. He wants to lead, but the track record of his councils, his colleagues and his friends (Trump? Really?) speaks for itself.
I'm old enough to know that politics isn't about quick fixes. It's not like bringing a flashy new manager to lead the football team. It's about slowly building sensible policies to look after the most people you can, building the economy steadily, whilst trying to pay off your debts, vand maintaining your values, and some sanity at a time of huge global change. It's not sexy. It's not going to get suddenly better, but could get much, much worse.

Boomer55 · 01/12/2025 08:59

I voted for them, but won’t again. They have been incompetent and bad for the economy. 🙄

We were told that there would be tax rises. We were told transparency and no sleeze.

we have had all 3.

I think that they have tried to do some good things and are starting to make some progress.

NHS waiting lists are genuinely down and they are starting to deal with securing our borders, though they have not gone far enough yet.

But the budgets were both a shambles. They did nothing to deal with benefits, glaring inefficiencies in the tax system and the very low rates of tax paid by the genuinely wealthy. So they were very much used to take from the middle to give to those receiving benefits.

If the Tories get their act together under Kemi, I will probably vote for them. But never again a corrupt shambles like Boris.

We just have Rayner effectively stealing off her son and Rachel being being accused of purposely manipulating the markets.

Farage is the face of disaster capitalism. If they get in then anything that can be sold at knock down prices will be. His backers will make an absolute fortune by wrecking this country.

Nhs gone, replaced by an American model
Consumer protection gone
No worker protection
Environmental standards gone

He's an opportunistic shit who only cares about making money for him and his mates

Sasssquatch · 01/12/2025 09:03

I don’t think they’re doing a terrible job. It’ll take a while to correct the shit show of the last 15 years. What we need more than anything is stability. And for the press to back off and let the changes take effect and to stop stirring up discontent and division.
