I didn’t vote Labour, but was actually quite excited. We needed change, now I dint think that at all and although Tories weren’t great in many respects, this shit show feels worse! I’m so tired of our politicians just not doing what is best for the country and having to curtail to babk benchers/unions, lining their own pockets and wardrobes and generally just being untrustworthy.
i have no doubt Farage will get in next time, and it will be Keir’s fault.

He should be knighted for his work with prisoners even before he was in government. Helping former prisoners is of huge value to the country

And also the workers in Timpson’s are also so friendly and knowledgeable.

@Iwishicouldflyhigh I will be voting Labour again as I understand it is going to take a lot longer to sort out the circus of shite left behind by the Tories. So many positive examples of what Labour have done since coming in and am looking forward to see more.

As a Labour voter no, I'm not happy, in fact very unhappy.

On what grounds does Reform 'deserve' a chance?

i won’t vote reform, just a knee jerk reaction after watching the reeves interview on sky and then rewatching what she said after the last budget.

ill vote Tory again.

but a lot of people will vote reform. All those who are as disillusioned as I am.

I think it’s remarkable that most of us can acknowledge the last 10+ years has been a total shitshow, but some people expect it to be fixed within 5mins.

I suppose we live in an age where people expect instant gratification.

genesis92 · 01/12/2025 10:24

It’s astonishing the amount of people who voted Labour and are now shocked that they are a high tax, high welfare government? What else were you expecting?

What made you vote Labour this time instead of Conservative?

So, even after brexit, the truss budget, covid corruption, Johnson illegally proroguing parliament and lying to the Queen, failed austerity, the joke that is hs2, the failed privatisation of the probation service etc

You're going to vote Tory? Are you quite sure you want that bunch of absolute charlatans in again?

SeaAndStars · 01/12/2025 10:26

SnowFrogJelly · 01/12/2025 10:09

I think they’re doing ok in difficult circumstances, anyone who thinks Reform will do better needs to give their head a wobble

This.

Mischance · 01/12/2025 10:27

I voted Labour. Am I genuinely happy with how things are going? - in the main No, but I was even less happy with how things were going before, so it is all relative.

I am disappointed that they are insufficiently radical. They have brought back a Sure Start equivalent and that is good, but .......

  • they are not spelling out how having a welfare state demands an income and that has to be through tax in the final analysis
  • they are not being clear about NHS reform
  • they are ducking the issue of social care and the interface with health, like every government before them
  • they are toeing the line of economic growth above all else whilst ignoring that this can only be achieved by investment in people so that they are in a position to spend money - and this through education and training reforms.
  • they are not being brave enough in spelling out that reform and results take time - they are trying to find ways of appeasing the electorate rather than telling it how it is.

But I do think that Starmer has reinvigorated our standing on the international stage by coming across as a serious person rather than a buffoon.

hairbearbunches · 01/12/2025 10:29

It makes me laugh that people think the damage was done over 14 years, from 2010 to 2024. The damage began accruing from 1979. Where we're at now is because of nigh on 50 years of neoliberal bollocks, and this government has no intention of changing the direction of travel. It's status quo all the way with a little tinkering around the edges to give the illusion of doing it differently. Like Blair's wasted 13 years before them, they will do nothing of substance. The middle class are going to be hollowed out now because there is no other group left to tax. It's mismanagement on an epic scale. They teach modules on what went wrong for Britain in European universities. Fucking shameful.

pestowithwalnuts · 01/12/2025 10:29

I didn't vote Labour thankfully.
Now all this shit show can be laid at the feet who did vote them on

NancyBellaDonna · 01/12/2025 10:29

Alpacajigsaw · 01/12/2025 09:51

I think they are fine. It’s not even been 18 months, I’m not sure wtf people expected after 18 months of trying to fix 14 years of Tory shitshow.

People are so impatient these days and expect everything done yesterday. There are people whining for general elections already. They need to grow up and get a grip!

This^

TheEllisGreyMethod · 01/12/2025 10:30

I controversially think labour are doing ok, I didn't vote labour though, I won't next time either.
Theyre certainly a lot more stable than previous governments of recent years.

I think some still want this but yeh most won’t, as polling shows.

I voted Tory (it’s a safe seat anyway). I have voted Labour in the past. It’s was obvious Labour would get in and I was ok with that as I thought we needed a change. I remember waking up in the morning, it was sunny, Keir was so enthusiastic and eager to get to work-I felt hopeful.
then the glasses/trousers/free tickets.
then various Rayner issues
then tulip
then whoever the transport minister was
then rayner
now reeves lying.

Genuine question…so who do you think actually IS farming?

I saw that comment and it nearly got me to reply, but I just can't bring myself to argue with such stupidity

1/3 of hospitality are facing closure, worse than Covid for them. Why do you feel immune from Labour’s policies? Are you benefiting rather than looking at losing your job or livelihood?

My husband works in hospitality so that’s a bit of an assumption there on your part. I’m no more immune to any government policies than anyone else, but I’m not so stupid to think that either the Tories or Reform, both of whom are either directly or indirectly responsible for the shambles that was inherited by Labour, would be doing any better a job.

BrightSpark10 · 01/12/2025 10:33

Party who promised to not tax and spend, taxed and spend 🤷🏼‍♀️

That's a misunderstanding. All governments are going to tax, and they're going to spend. The phrase is a disavowal of 'tax and spend' as a governing ideological policy. Anyone who thought there would be neither taxes nor spending is an idiot.

Is he feeling ok and not in the 1/3? I wouldn’t wish closure on anyone so I hope so.

Labour should respond to this though for those who are under threat of closure. And they have hammered small businesses which is why they’ve lost a lot of support.

Oh and if you meant to have some kind of dig at me being on benefits, sorry to disappoint, but no I’m not. Just realistic and if you want someone to blame for how things are look no further than the eejits who voted for Brexit!

IcyPuddles · 01/12/2025 10:37

I voted Labour and I’m not happy with how things are going. However, I also don’t think it’s an unrelenting tale of woe with no positives, and I’m not gormless enough to think it’s all their fault.

CreativeGreen · 01/12/2025 10:37

What I am angry about, though, is the way the media seem to be talking us into a Reform government. The way they reported before the budget was shameful - reporting speculation as though it had already happened. Reminds me of a bit in Flight of the Conchords when Murray writes a shit review of the bad and says 'that's what people are saying about you' - and when they reply, 'but you wrote it!' he just says 'well, it's what they're reading about you'.

NancyBellaDonna · 01/12/2025 10:37

Righting child poverty must come first.

Righting the misery of living in rented accommodation should also be a priority.

Brexit has badly harmed the UK and we have lost out. It will take years to sort out the Tory/Truss mess. It's unreasonable to expect it done in 12 months.

Stop reading rightwing crap newspapers. They wind you up and are full of misinformation.

I didn't vote Labour because I had to vote tactically to get the sitting Tory MP out. But I'm not dissapointed so far.
