To wonder why the economy, and people are struggling financially when the government could just.. ‘print’ more money to plow into it.

I just find it absolutely bizarre that businesses, NHS, education, benefits, taxpayers struggle so hard when money is literally a man made concept that we print and just ‘decide’ how much to have? Just ‘print’ more, if we created money and let’s be honest it’s just numbers, numbers are infinite.. put more into the NHS.. put more into education..

There is absolutely no reason anyone should have to struggle with money at it just baffles me that the UK is the way that it is because of some shite we made up 🤣

Every day we inch closer to a world where the proletariat rise up and take the power from those who have ruined the globe with their greed and avarice. Communism is the only way we can exist as a fair and equitable society, where each can give and take according to their need, and those without will never have to fear those with all the wealth ever again.

What evidence for any of this?

That capitalism [I presume is your target] has ruined the world? Is the world better or worse for the proletariat than before capitalism became the main mode?

That the proletariat will rise up? It’s generally the emerging middle classes or the frustrated intellectuals who cause revolutions.

That communism is a viable route to fairness, let alone the only one. It has spectacularly failed to deliver fair societies whenever it’s been tried and if anything is even more susceptible to capture by avaricious elites than capitalism.

“If," [the management consultant] said tersely, “we could for a moment move on to the subject of fiscal policy. . .”
...
“How can you have money,” demanded Ford, “if none of you actually produces anything? It doesn't grow on trees you know.”
...
“Since we decided a few weeks ago to adopt the leaf as legal tender, we have, of course, all become immensely rich.”
Ford stared in disbelief at the crowd who were murmuring appreciatively at this and greedily fingering the wads of leaves with which their track suits were stuffed.
“But we have also,” continued the management consultant, “run into a small inflation problem on account of the high level of leaf availability, which means that, I gather, the current going rate has something like three deciduous forests buying one ship’s peanut."
...
“So in order to obviate this problem,” he continued, “and effectively revalue the leaf, we are about to embark on a massive defoliation campaign, and. . .er, burn down all the forests. I think you'll all agree that's a sensible move under the circumstances."
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, 1980.

This was the quote that came to my mind too! Such a brilliant bit of writing!

That’s not happening though, is it? Thankfully.

Yes, fucking bourgeoisie make you go to school, ram education down your throat, force your parents to have child benefit and free child care.

And not only do some give it away, their wealth is put to use.

Probably nil billionaires have billions in cash in a vault.

They are usually billionaires because their companies are worth that, so the money is in use, making things and employing people.

Or they lend or invest the money, so that others’ businesses make things and employ people.

Exactly. I love billionaires

missmollygreen · 23/11/2025 13:24

RisenWhine · 23/11/2025 09:11

If I ruled the world I would make Mr Musk and his billionaire friends share their wealth evenly.

surely we can just reset the world by sharing all wealth. Everyone equal. Makes sense doesn’t it?

And why would Mr Musk want to have all the risk of the companies he owns if he gets no reward for it? No Teslas, no SpaceX

All equal... share the wealth...
Show me a communist regime worked.

The nice thing about a (properly run, moderated) free market system is that you don’t have to like or trust them to benefit.

It’s not out of the kindness of his heart that the baker bakes you your bread, etc.

In virtually every other system that’s ever been tried we’ve been reliant on the good heart of our betters. Good king, good life, bad king, starvation and death. Good party officials, some provision for the poor, bad party officials, graft and immiseration. Good union leaders, better conditions at work, bad union leaders, rent-seeking and special interest policy capture.

We can improve humans, but only a bit and unreliably. Trusting to systems that need people to be good and stay good once they get power hasn’t usually worked out well.

That’s not the bourgeoisie, that’s working class politicians giving crumbs to the proletariat unknowingly at the behest of a capitalist cabal who feed the public little things like this to convince them that people do care about them and don’t want to exploit them for all they are worth.

And it’s worked a treat on you, I must say. But on someone with an intellect like mine, forged in the fires of a thousand Reddit debates, I can see right through them.

I’m still not sure if you are a parody. But didn’t you want to disenfranchise the working class last week because they kept voting the wrong way?

First understand the difference between wealth and money.

Second understand why it is not OK to print money now. But it was seemingly was OK to print money (also known as quantitative easing) during the GFC.

Third, understand where all the money printed during the GFC actually went, and what the consequences of that were for everyone's wealth.

This will give you far more insight than printing money=inflation. Which is an answer any child could give without understanding one iota about the monetary system and how it works.

Nevermind that. I just went to Knightsbridge and the crowds buying and consuming are in full swing. Where does all money raised in taxes go? Are the North shops the same or it is just a bubble?

You know jobs didn’t used to be a thing until they were invented by the western imperialist white supremacist capitalist system?

There were jobs but many of them were carried out by slaves.

You can print money and do QE a bit. And it'll help the economy if it's in a rut. I'd be good to use QE and direct it into productive investment for infrastructure as this expands the productivity capacity of the UK.
