What the heck! Trans women get periods apparently

AIBU that this is the most ridiculous thing for a company to claim.

"Can a transgender woman have a period? Absolutely. Many trans and gender-diverse people menstruate. Whether you’re a woman, a man, non-binary or agender, your body may menstruate too."

Are you sure you mean a uterus?

You think there are successful womb transplants currently available?

I think whoever told you this was having you on, sorry to tell you 😆

I don't drink. Don't be rude and insulting. The surgical procedure was explained to me by someone who had undergone it.

They must have been pissed then at the time they explained it to you.

CinnamonBuns67 · 21/11/2025 20:23

Assuming we are talking about people that are born as male but identify and have transitioned as female then no they don't, it's impossible and nothing it's just the way it is at least for now unless they make and start giving an artificial reproductive system or something. But think there's alot of science work to do before that happens.

VoodooQualities · 21/11/2025 20:25

Looks like the Feminism board is leaking.

(Hooray!)

I think it's brilliant that finally we can all talk freely on this subject without fear of reprisal or banning or cancellation.

And I speak as the mum of a (wonderful, special, beautiful and basically happy) transboy daughter who's probably just a lesbian really but got caught up in it all.

tommyhoundmum · 21/11/2025 20:26

Ooops, sorry. Perhaps I am an idiot. I meant a vagina. Doubtless some of you won't like that either.

I definately am not drunk.

Now do you see why a period products company claiming that some transwomen have uteruses is blatantly telling lies?

There may be transwomen with inverted penises, simulating a vagina, but those surgical constructions aren’t actually vaginas (which are organs in their own right) any more than a kidney can become a liver.

An open wound which has to be constantly dilated because it tries to heal itself is not a vagina.

Well that would be a neo-vagina, not a vagina.

Neo-vaginas are constructed either by inverting the penis and possibly using the removed scrotum as the internal lining. Or by using a piece of the person's colon to create the cavity.

In the case of the former, hair often grows inside the cavity. In the latter, it will often smell of faeces. In both, the owner will often suffer frequent UTIs and will need to dilate the cavity to stop it closing itself.

You're welcome.

Do you know what a uterus actually is?

Quite.

It's a womb. The bit you grow a baby in. Women have them, men do not. Transwomen - even those who go through surgery to lop off genitalia and repurpose it, do not have a uterus/womb. Or a cervix.

Some women have their womb and cervix removed. That;s called a hysterectomy. Having your womb removed does not remove your status as a woman.

Tbf I think they should double down and start selling a Tans Woman Period Kit that contains

  • chocolate because women always eat chocolate when they have a period,
  • tissues for all the weeping,
  • some pink pyjamas and fluffy pink slippers for all the lolling about women do when they have a period,
  • a hot water bottle with a fluffy pink cover for those cramps
  • a dvd of some soppy romance

There is a sub genre of the aesthetic daily self care routine videos where "clean girl" influencers actually set out their Gilmore Girls style ideal period experience, involving journalling and scented candles round their Bathtub 🛁

I wonder how many of these get shoved the way of the aspiring Menstruaters who are claiming they also have period cravings. She gets absolutely flayed in the comments in the one above

I wasn't referring to you, Tommy. I was referring to your predecessor earlier who came in, told us facts should bugger off, threw a tantrum and then bogged off to get hammered by their own admission, which is exactly what I'd do if I made posts like that. It seems they were the opening act and now we've got... stuff like this. Maybe the matinee was better.

No. No it wasn't. Because it's never been done with a male.

This is where all this anti science bs gets us.

This is why is important to counter lies in adverts.

Well, to be fair, the only people who have ever had their testicles removed and their penises also removed, or inverted into an artificial , dead ended surgical wound in their perineum that requires lifelong dilation to keep open, in order to resemble a woman, have been men.

It’s hard to tell with the typos but you seem to be saying that you have had a uterus for 80 years.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that a woman of 80 years-old doesn’t know the difference between a uterus and a vagina.

Indeed.

Tommyhound was suggesting a uterus transplant, however.

No, they don’t. Not even through surgical procedures. If a transwoman told you they had a uterus, they were lying.

He's hard to follow.

However, even if a man had a uterus implanted into his abdomen, he'd still be a man. I could get rabbit ears grafted to my head, it wouldn't make me a bunny.

So true.

And no male has ever received a successful uterus transplant anyway.

So they can't have periods.

Locutus2000 · 21/11/2025 19:19

Modibodi simply doesn't seem to understand the difference between transmen and transwomen.

Obviously many trans men have periods.

I thought that too…but in the article they state correctly what a trans woman is.

A trans woman is someone who is a woman and who was assigned male at birth.

Hence them thinking some trans women have uteruses is baffling.
