To think there's something really off about this woman?

Sorry for the Daily Fail link, but this is the third video I've seen over as many weeks with this woman acting oddly possessive over Arianna.

AIBU to think her behaviour is off?

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo cause stir with red carpet stunt

The Wicked: For Good co-stars have had multiple 'bizarre' red carpet exchanges when promoting the first Wicked film, with yet another clip now resurfacing.

Can you answer why these kinds of threads are always started about black women?

There was a similar nasty thread about Jodie Turner Smith. Another black woman who did absolutely nothing wrong but was roundly ridiculed.

www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5426358-jodie-turner-smith-graham-norton?page=2&reply=147948158

Nope.

I don't really follow celebrity and I don't know who Jodie is so I did a quick Google. Not seen anything she's been in.

Was she acting weird like Cynthia?

And I did not start a thread about "something being off about this black woman" just a woman. Behaving weirdly, repeatedly. She just happens to be black.

I get the intense bonding thing, in that they've been caught up in this massive movie franchise together, obviously get on and have probably been a source of support for each other throughout. They're performative with that, but I guess they're Hollywood types and are into that.

The fact that it has also corresponded notable weight loss for both of them (and Yeoh) is a massive red flag though.

I doubt that poster is even a woman let alone a black woman. My eyes rolled so hard they almost got stuck the wrong way round when I read it.

Agreed. Those are the posts this kind of thread generates. Awful to see.

You called her 'this woman' and couldn't even be arsed to put her NAME!

And you know damn well she is a black woman.

We see you. 👀

Agree OP. That woman is freakish. I cannot bear her.

And as for Michelle Obama bleating about all the barriers she has faced. It’s incredibly tone deaf. It doesn’t surprise me she’s jumped on the injection bandwagon. She’s a disgrace to my race IMO.

Digital blackface is so laughable! 😂

Goodness, not everything is racism. Honestly, you lot are as bad as the cafe owner who called me racist because I left feedback saying the plastic chairs were uncomfortable. Victim mentality at it's finest.

Why do you repeatedly call the black woman 'this woman' but call the white woman 'Ariana'?

I'm not black and it's not victim mentality to call you out on your micro aggressions against a woman who has not done anything to anyone.

Watch this video and see how inclusive Cynthia is to people. Learn from her. Do better.

Yes, thats right, you lot. The collective group of anonymous, genderless, raceless mumsnetters who have all unilaterally decided that I'm racist 🤣

Sure you did.

Just like you what you mean with 'victim mentality'.

You are very transparent.

Oh no, nothing neutral about what I meant by victim mentality.

If your of that mindset and determined to see everything another person says as an attack, theres nothing I can say that will dissuade you.

It must be a very anxiety driven way to live.

I didn’t know who Cynthia was until she was on Strictly. I haven’t seen Wicked. I knew who Ariana Grande was from the awful bombing and older scandals. I was shocked when I saw her after Wicked as she so clearly looks like a shell of her former self.
I can’t comment on Cynthia as I don’t know how she used to look/usually looks. I would say I would struggle to remember her name as it’s only through one appearance on Strictly that I know her. She’s clearly well known to others, given her reception on Strictly. I would only probably only recognise her on Strictly or with Ariana Grande. Though if Ariana changed her hair and put on weight I wouldn’t recognise her either.

I thought the vibe around her on Strictly was weird. I had never heard of her but everyone on the show treated her like she was some sort of goddess. I probably would've turned it off if I had been watching on my own. The sycophantic behaviour of the judges and celebrities was nauseating.

Maybe because she's an incredible performer who when training was told to lend her voice to the more lead roles that were filled by persons more suited to the role by colour, because they couldn't sing as well as her.
And now she's getting hers and rightly so. She's incredible and her energy is a totally different level that a lot of people won't get

I’m sure she’s great- but I looked up what she’d been in and I hadn’t actually seen anything (granted I live under a rock!).

Bear in mind some of us who don’t pay close attention will have missed her because she’s painted green in the various promo poster! That won’t have helped her visibility with people who don’t watch interviews etc.

Fair enough

Well aren’t you all delightful, body shaming two women and assuming something is “off” as they have formed a strong bond. Why can’t women build each other up like these two do instead of punching down like the perfect women of Mumsnet.

Expressing concern about weight loss of this magnitude is not 'body shaming' ffs. 🙄

I lost a dear friend and colleague to anorexia. It's a terrible disorder.

ClemenceD · 23/11/2025 06:24

They're both bonkers. I call them The Skeleton Sisters.

BatshitOutofHell · 23/11/2025 08:11

I actually find the film Wicked so weird. They paint an actor green and say that she experiences discrimination because of it. The actress under the green paint is black. I am sure she experienced discrimination without being painted green.

It's set in a magical land called Oz. It's not supposed to be a realistic depiction

Rosegarden1 · 23/11/2025 08:15

I think they're both acting oddly. They look anorexic, particularly ariana grande. Hope they're getting some medical intervention if so.
