Allowing college kids to deal with cold showers for 2 days

A mom posted in a group that her college kids had to deal with cold showers for two days and she asked if she should go get her and bring her home. Mom lives an hour away. I made a post and said absolutely not! They are in college and can figure it out! Parents came out of the woodwork freaking out on me and said if they could help with something small like this, they absolutely would do it. I’m horrified that we coddle our college kids the way we do. AIBU🤷‍♀️😂

More to the point, why wouldn’t they have a plug and a kettle in their room?! I was in catered halls so no kitchens but everyone had a kettle in their room.

It’s not allowed these days due to fire safety.

Kettle and a flannel??

Kettles aren’t allowed in dorms these days. At least not at the three Unis my DC went to recently (post covid)

You learn a new thing every day!

Yep. I was shocked. In my day we all had a kettle, a hot plate and a mini fridge in our rooms. Now they’re not even allowed anything beyond a flipping hair dryer,

Blimey, it’s not hard to find a solution to.

If they chose to travel home fine, but I’d have though a strip wash after boiling a kettle, or popping to the gym or a friend, or maybe even skipping a day of showering….. I mean, that’s what I’d do if I was without hot water for a couple of days.

Id not expect anyone to sort out my washing arrangements!
