for secretly taking weightloss injections

and not telling anyone, even my husband?

Is anyone else in this boat?

I've just ordered them today. My husband is dead against them. Work colleagues would probably be supportive though as half of them are on it.

I've tried everything to lose weight but food is just a crutch for me. I'm much better than I used to be but I'm a sugar addict and struggle with portion control. I've got a lot of trauma from having food restricted as a kid. As an adult I've dealt with the mental health side but just cannot lose the weight! I have tried literally every single diet you can think of. I've had a PT. I go to the gym regularly and walk the dog and play with my children. I just cannot lose the weight... It's either this or WLS...

I'm 5 stone overweight and miserable about my body and just want to change.

They rarely lose five stone after struggling with ‘healthy eating’ for many years. I stand by my initial comment. It’s obvious. But you do you

Edited

you seem over-invested on other people's weight and seem to know A LOT about everybody else's eating habits and diets.

but you do you 😂

I couldn’t care less and would never ask as I don’t need to as so obvious but
clearly your reply shows you care. I am just saying people know

people like you seem to be very nosey and want to have an opinion about everyone else

Exactly the kind of people everyone else is trying to avoid.

Most people really don't CARE if others lose weight, let alone how!

50howdidthathappen · 08/11/2025 22:12

They ‘know’ as most of the people who have recently lost huge amounts of weight have struggled with healthy eating for years

Edited

Yes. It's very obvious. Just left from a dinner where nephews 25 year old formerly obese gf has lost a lot of weight. Hardly ate anything and everyone just assumed she was on wli her being a nurse and all. I'm happy for her because she looks so much healthier now (not too skinny just slim and healthy).
So don't worry @ravingandbehaving - everyone already knows- atleast all women.

SwingTheMonkey · 08/11/2025 22:35

notatinydancer · 08/11/2025 22:09

I just don’t see the point in keeping it secret.

I take it you’d happily tell everyone about any medications you’re on? Got thrush? Tell everyone how you got rid of it, because lots of women have it so why should you keep
it a secret, right? Or is it just fat people who deserve no right to privacy when it comes to their medications?

SilenceInside · 08/11/2025 22:37

But who cares if people think they know, as long as they keep their assumptions and their judgement and snidey thoughts to themselves. Hopefully everyone at this family dinner managed to do that!

No, I genuinely don’t care. I just don’t like the posters saying “they’ll know!” Like it’s something to be ashamed of. I honestly don’t give a fuck who thinks I’ve used WLI to lose the weight I have. What I don’t feel the need to do is engage with these people. It’s none of their business. In the same way that any other medication I take is none of their business. But because it relates to weight loss, they feel the need to have an opinion.

If she hardly ate anything she's probably not on the jabs. They control food noise, but it is still perfectly easy to have a normal meal, and she would undoubtedly have eaten a bit more than almost nothing at a family meal.

Honestly, what sort of person gives a shiny fuck how someone has lost weight - unless it’s through an eating disorder. Why people think that the fatties owe anyone anything by declaring they’re on WLI is anyone’s guess. Like we have to warn the slim people that the cheaters are on their way with their fat jabs so watch out naturally slim women!!

I suspect for people like that poster, it's jealousy. Not a slim person, but one who is overweight but is not taking the jabs (for any reason) and is miffed and resentful because someone else is losing weight - and bitterly dismissing anything else than "they just lazily take the jabs, we know"

Definitely either an overweight person who can’t/wont use the jabs or a thin person who is threatened by the fatties losing weight…

Yes, it comes down to women who have either never struggled with their weight or struggled immensely to keep their weight down. They have enjoyed the pluses that come with being slender, the social pluses I mean. They like that people assume they are healthy, hard working and they enjoy the confidence that comes with being slender. Some of them aren't quite able to be the thin icon they want either, and seeing others lose weight with apparent ease drives them bonkers with jealousy.

They often particularly enjoy slyly comparing themselves to the fatties "I just don't know how she could let herself get like that" and they'll shake their head sadly, pretending that they care.

And now the fatties are "sneakily" fixing their weight issues, and it's driving them mad with spite. They used to slag off people who had gastric banding/sleeves etc and they've shifted it over to faux concern about weight loss jabs.

There's also a lot of classism, as it tends to be socially disadvantaged people who are heavier. Now, these working class fatties have a chance to look as good as Yasmyne who does hot yoga ten times a week, and who can afford spas and the very best of nutritious food. How DARE these women climb out of the crab pot.

It's spite at the fatties no longer being their punch bags, someone to look down on and feel sorry for. And that's all it is. There is no concern in it at all.

Mistyglade · 08/11/2025 22:59

You’re absolute NBU and you shouldn’t feel at all ashamed. You’re a grown woman you have agency over your own body and what’s best for you.

SwingTheMonkey · 08/11/2025 23:13

What I will say op, is that it feels like your dh doesn’t like the idea of you losing weight because he’s afraid of you leaving him. Never let an insecure man dictate what you do with your body…

ThatKeenShaker · 08/11/2025 23:21

it comes down to women who have either never struggled with their weight

in fairness, these comments never helps. There's a point when most people make a conscious decision to not eat, or make an extra effort to get up at 5 am to go exercise, or just push through in the evening when others just go and sit on the sofa.

Call it struggle or something else, but there's effort somewhere.

Yes, illness, medication etc.. can make things even harder for some.

But making it into a competition never helps anyone, and judging that someone had it "easy", or is "cheating" is just as bad.

I agree the faux concern on SM is a bit galling
I mean most people feel nothing when a complete stranger drops dead so why on earth they are worried about what medication they are on while alive

Wildywondrous · 08/11/2025 23:27

I've lost 6 stone on wli and haven't told anyone, I just said I've cut out the crap which is true, the injection is just liquid willpower.

I've gained and lost the same 3 stone so many times over the years so people who know me are used to my weight changing, I've never lost this much though and am the lightest I've ever been in my adult life and I've noticed that people hardly comment now whereas I'm the past they've always mentioned my weight loss, I'm guessing they suspect injections as so many people are on them nowadays.
On the school run there are quite a few fellow parents who are suddenly much slimmer so I imagine they're using wli too.

I gave other options that were all part of that paragraph.

Here's what I really said:"Yes, it comes down to women who have either never struggled with their weight or struggled immensely to keep their weight down. Pointing out hypocrisy and making it clear to the fatty bashers that we know precisely what they are doing, and that it is driven only by spite, is important. It might encourage them to keep their spite inside their heads, where it belongs.

Cherry picking is rarely helpful.

I have had x4 pens, all at 2.5mg, since the start of June. I still have two doses left in the fourth pen. I don’t think this is excessive. I tend to use the pen at 2 weekly intervals, instead of the recommended week.

I’ve lost a fraction more than a stone, and my BMI is 22.3. My weight is exactly where I want it to be. I don’t need or want to lose any more weight.

I haven’t told anyone and don’t intend to. It feels like a bit of a guilty secret (which it is) but I don’t care. I’m happy. At 52 and with a misfiring thyroid. I wasn’t going to lose a stone any other way.

That’s lovely. You must have told some absolute whoppers to get that prescription. Not telling your family is one thing, not telling your doctor? Very foolish.

mrsnjw · 09/11/2025 12:32

I was in your position two weeks ago and I ended up only telling my husband because
a. I had a reaction and needed medical treatment
b. Where would I store it? It says fridge but I’m keeping it at room temperature.
c. He would become quickly suspicious if I started eating fruit and halving portion sizes.
I have three stone to lose. Third injection tomorrow and I’ve lost about 4/5 pound. It certainly helps but you do still need to think about what you are eating.

No, you can’t keep it from your GP. Im not sure that’s even possible. I saw it on my record of ‘scripts last time I was there. She didn’t think it significant enough even to mention. I was braced for questions, but she didn’t bother, even though it was - at one point during the consult - just about visible on her computer monitor.

As I’ve mentioned, I’ve only had four pens. Half of the fourth one I still have. One dose from the first pen didn’t get used because I didn’t take the small purple cap off the needle - it went all over my thigh. I only managed to inject a small part of one of the doses from the second pen. Made another mess of it because there was an air lock.

All were at the lowest possible dose, and I ascribe my weight loss - which I’m delighted with, incidentally - 50/50 to MJ and my own efforts. I wouldn’t have been inspired or able to make changes without the pens.

I honestly don't understand why some people might feel ashamed for at least trying something that seems to work for so many.

Because people are utter bitches about it. Threads full of that on here .

Canvy · 09/11/2025 13:21

Everyone will assume you’re on them anyway. I’ve lost 3 stone this year ahead of my wedding. I didn’t use injections as I’ve had issues with my gallbladder in the past so couldn’t risk it. Everyone assumes I’m on Ozempic or something. It is annoying as I lost a similar amount after my first child 10 years ago. Oh well. I’ve made the lifestyle changes and have luckily somewhat shaken off the food obsessing so I take comfort in that.

Everyone I know who’s bmi isn’t high enough does it
knock off a few height inches
Add a few kilos
bobs your uncle.

More faux concern.

Total faux concern.

There’s a misunderstanding by people who are a bit naive that GPs are immensely concerned with all aspects of people’s lives. They are interested mainly in life-and-death stuff. They don’t have enough time to get involved in the minutiae of what people get up to.
