The immigration related clown show continues

So now an Algerian national who was released by mistake last week is at large. As if the previous debacle with the Epping forest sex offender wasn’t bad enough.

The fact that we are hearing about this again and again tells us that,
This happens all the time
Foreign national offenders are over represented in crime statistics
Immigration is out of control
People working in Home office, prison service and and every other government department are incompetent and beyond useless.

And these people have the audacity to tell us that they want more of the public’s money in taxes.

At this point, this government (and the previous one) is laughing at us. They are taking the piss out of us. This country is broken and Labour and Tories need to be voted so far into oblivion and out of power that they never get anywhere power, ever again.

OP posts:

The Algerian man has now been arrested.

Yes I heard. Good that he's off the streets.

If you have something to say to me, at least have the courage to quote my username.

And this. What’s all this ‘some posters’ nonsense. Make a direct case if there’s a leg to stand on that is.

While that is a point (about foreign born also including Brits) the foreign born population will overwhelmingly not be Britons whose parents happened to be overseas when they are born. So the data suggests that foreign nationals are not overrepresented in prison unless you or OP have data to the contrary?

This link says that 9% of residents have a foreign passport but the figure excludes all dual nationals (so naturalised foreigners are not counted.)

I didn't suggest they were.

So the data suggests that foreign nationals are not overrepresented in prison

The data you have posted suggests they are:

9% of residents have a foreign passport
The foreign national prison population is 12%

Labour will be judged in 2029

Some important elections due May 2026.

bemoresloth · 07/11/2025 15:25

88% of the prison population are not foreign national then

The reason dangerous men roam the streets (due to prison releases and a collapsed justice system) is down to decisions made over decades, inc those by the Blair Govt.

I will blame Labour where and when required.

Things are worse because the problems cannot be addressed quickly, you seem to think there is a magic wand.

You will never accept any blame being attached to the Tories, thats loyalty, blind loyalty and a characteristic shown by a few other regular Tory posters too.

Rather academic whether you choose to blame Labour, or not.

Millions evidently do blame Labour - look at their torrid ratings.
Actually, you should probably wait until after the budget…

bemoresloth · 07/11/2025 15:34

If you want to be tougher on crime and put more people in prison then the system needs to be well funded.

Years of overcrowding and understaffing will not be solved by a magic money tree

Millions? Which opinion polls have canvassed millions?

Labour is tanking right now, yes. But we don't really know how millions would vote in a GE. Polls can be very wrong, as recently demonstrated.

Oh dear.

Polls aside, why on earth would you suggest that Labour is popular at the moment.

I mean, really.

Reeves didn’t do a pre budget conference for laughs.

It’s not deflection it’s what people are feeling. Ik you’re immune, no idea why but you’re in the minority on this.

Fourth in polls, losing by-elections, approval rating on the floor. You’re in a very small group now batting for them.

Again, what tax rises have been announced?

YouGov poll from 3rd Nov has Labour in 2nd, on 20% Reform well ahead on 27% Tories on 16%.

No one should take one poll and extrapolate whatever you want from it.

I don't bat for anyone, i dislike the Tories and detest Reform/Farage, i'm more Green/LD to be honest, but as threads tend not to be about them, i will take Labour as a next best.

The Tories wrecked this country, they had 14years and fucked it up, they'll never be in power again.

Perhaps you didn't read my post properly. I said that it is true that Labour is tanking right now in the polls. Which, if you are unsure, means I am saying that they are unpopular. Including with me at the moment.

However, I asked you which polls have canvassed millions?

Thats not how polling works. None of them canvas millions of people.
Polls have become far more accurate since MRP.

The Conservatives have raised the tax burden to a 70-year high. We will ensure taxes on working people are kept as low as possible.

“Labour will not increase taxes on working people, which is why we will not increase National Insurance, the basic, higher, or additional rates of income tax, or VAT.”
Extract from Labour’s 2024 election manifesto

This is one of the myriad reasons why Labour are so deeply unpopular - they lied to get elected, and have subsequently lied and lied and lied, since being elected.

If think most are aware of this. Even on mn it’s apparent. It’s all reflected in votes and polling.

I know that. And in reality Labour will of course be unpopular with millions of people, as every political party will always be unpopular with millions of people. Even the great saviour Farage is unpopular with millions of people. But pp posted as though it is an unknown phenomenon or one that is unique to Labour.

Anyway. This is a bit of a derail of the thread.

Well yes but it matters how many and Labour are losing ground with polls starting to show them fourth.

Yes, I know what the polls say. Which is why I said they are tanking in the polls. But who knows what will happen in the next three years. The UK might lie in smoking ruins. Labour might actually have done some good. Reform's bubble might have burst. The Tories might have had a resurgence. Polanski might be on course to be the next PM.

Premised on their current trajectory, nobody will give this government the benefit of another three years, sorry.
