The immigration related clown show continues

So now an Algerian national who was released by mistake last week is at large. As if the previous debacle with the Epping forest sex offender wasn’t bad enough.

The fact that we are hearing about this again and again tells us that,
This happens all the time
Foreign national offenders are over represented in crime statistics
Immigration is out of control
People working in Home office, prison service and and every other government department are incompetent and beyond useless.

And these people have the audacity to tell us that they want more of the public’s money in taxes.

At this point, this government (and the previous one) is laughing at us. They are taking the piss out of us. This country is broken and Labour and Tories need to be voted so far into oblivion and out of power that they never get anywhere power, ever again.

How would you build more prisons & recruit the staff required inside 16months?

Cannot be done.

How is it Labours fault the prison system still, incredibly, uses paper records, Fax machines & has a staff turn over of around 15%.

Do you have any idea how long it would take to plan, build, install the cabling alone for a modern IT system, they don't even have the power requirements.

You appear to rate yourself as a fair minded person, yet time after time, just show your right wing credentials.

If by 2029, the situation has not improved significantly, then yes of course, it will be on Labour but not yet.

I'm sorry if you don't like the facts and figures I posted upthread.
Your loyalty to Labour is clearly your main priority, despite evidence that things have got worse. You will never see the correlation.

I'm far more concerned about dangerous men roaming our streets than I am about party loyalty, but you do you.

bemoresloth · 07/11/2025 09:06

None of the above explains the last 14 years of underfunding the Prison Services and the CJS

You must have skipped over the vitriol on here re Truss, Braverman, Patel, Sunak and now Badenoch.

But not from the media and how many resigned? even when found guilty of misconduct? instead the guy doing the regulation had to resign instead 😥

Badenoch got a very easy ride on her hacking business.

Can you point to the threads on here against Tory female MPs ?

Didn't realise Sunak was female.

As female as Lammy in that post.

She did.

I am waiting for the howls of outrage about this.

The reason dangerous men roam the streets (due to prison releases and a collapsed justice system) is down to decisions made over decades, inc those by the Blair Govt.

I will blame Labour where and when required.

Things are worse because the problems cannot be addressed quickly, you seem to think there is a magic wand.

You will never accept any blame being attached to the Tories, thats loyalty, blind loyalty and a characteristic shown by a few other regular Tory posters too.

I don’t mind if Labour lose tbf, you probably hold Tories more in mind than most anyway.

And it’s not looking good for Labour.

Labour has fallen to fourth in a new opinion poll – putting the party on track for its worst election result in more than a century.

bemoresloth · 07/11/2025 09:31

This is not about Labour losing, this is about fixing a broken system.

And no the Conservatives are not solely to blame for that, it started before 2010.

No, you're attributing words to me that I haven't written to fit your narrative. I am very willing to say that the tories left a mess in the prisons system, as I have upthread.

Nowhere have I 'rated myself as fair minded', or expressed my 'right wing credentials' (whatever that means). Again, you're making things up to fit your narrative. I won't respond again if you continue to lie and insult me.

I have pointed out on this thread that things have got worse under Labour, that's a fact. I would rather deal with the situation we face now, and the people in charge now. That is Labour, and I refuse to adopt your favoured response of blaming someone else.

I was listening to an interview yesterday with a rep from one the the unions dealing with the justice system. I can't remember his name, but he was on Sky if you wish to verify. He said that there is a correlation between the recent massive increase in planned early release, and the huge increase in accidental release. He had nothing good to say about the changes Labour had made.

The commons justice committee, have collected evidence from various sources over many years, i prefer to believe them, than anecdotal evidence, dragged in to support your narrative.

“Reports that two prisoners have been ‘released in error’ from HMP Wandsworth are extremely concerning, especially following the high-profile release from HMP Chelmsford last month.
“Events such as this speak to a wider justice system at breaking point. Evidence taken by the Justice Committee has laid bare a crisis-hit prison system, starved of investment over many years which is facing multi-faceted pressures, including overcrowding and understaffing within a decaying prison estate characterised by chaos and instability.
“The Committee visited HMP Wandsworth as part of its ‘Tackling drugs in prisons’ inquiry and found an institution with multiple failings despite the best efforts of its staff.
"The report published just days ago warned the use of illicit drugs and the trade in them across prisons has reached ‘endemic’ levels.
“While the day to day running of prison security and public safety are paramount, the current spate of releases in error will be repeated until the underlying failures are addressed.”

How can this be fixed in months? but at least the Govt is making a start.

I ve made nothing up about you, you ve kept your user name and i have read your posts long before this thread.

Another incident here, although they have recaptured him;

An asylum seeker accused of sexually assaulting two teenage girls escaped from custody during a medical appointment, the Daily Mail can reveal.

Pirouz Mofrad, 22, absconded from a health facility in Bexhill yesterday morning [Wednesday] while on a Sexual Risk Order and was missing overnight before being found today.

Sussex Police had launched an appeal for the public to report sightings of him and, to assist in this, issued two pictures of Mofrad - in one of which he appeared to be running away.

The circumstances around his escape remain unclear - but his being at large makes this the latest in a series of such cases that have embarrassed the authorities in recent days.

An asylum seeker who came into the UK under the previous Govt & was allowed to roam the streets, committing sexual crimes under the previous govt too & who they failed, didn't even try, to deport.

I wonder why they missed that lot out?

I don't know the man's history - do you think all asylum seekers should be locked up as soon as they arrive in the UK? The man escaped custody under the current government.

& if the previous Govt had controlled migration properly, vetted people in a timely manner, assessing his claim quickly, he'd never have been here to commit crimes in the first place.

No, you don't know his history, but just like the Mail, post incomplete stories to try and make out this entire problem never existed before July 2024.

The foreign born population as of 2021 was approximately 16%
The foreign national prison population is 12%

You are not comparing the same thing - a foreign born person may have British citizenship now.

bozzabollix
I actually looked at the ONS stats recently and foreign born nationals are under represented in prison

I don't think we have a figure for the number of foreign born nationals in prison, - only the number of foreign nationals in prison.

While that is a point (about foreign born also including Brits) the foreign born population will overwhelmingly not be Britons whose parents happened to be overseas when they are born. So the data suggests that foreign nationals are not overrepresented in prison unless you or OP have data to the contrary?

This link says that 9% of residents have a foreign passport but the figure excludes all dual nationals (so naturalised foreigners are not counted.)

Nice bit of deflection there! especially as NO tax increases have been announced yet.

Labour inherited a shit show, now there maybe genuine reasons for some of this, Covid and Ukraine spring to mind but it does not take away from the fact that the Country has some severe issues.

Labour will be judged in 2029, as much as you don't like that.

Reeves didn’t do a pre budget conference for laughs.

It’s not deflection it’s what people are feeling. Ik you’re immune, no idea why but you’re in the minority on this.

Fourth in polls, losing by-elections, approval rating on the floor. You’re in a very small group now batting for them.
