Another day, another Facebook post calling for the army to be bought in to stop the boats. Another comment section full of people shouting "sink the boats!" "Use as much force as necessary to stop them!"

There are women and children on these boats and people are brazenly calling for force to be used against them and for them to be sunk, with pictures of their faces next to their comments. Not an ounce of shame. And there's hundreds of them.

I just find it absolutely abhorrent and honestly, really upsetting that so many people have dehumanised asylum seekers to the point they have absolutely no compassion in their hearts to the point they are publicly calling for harm to come to families fleeing war.

Why are you fabricating this false narrative that "I am on this group"? I've told you twice now it's just some bullshit Facebook showed me and I don't follow it at all. I haven't reported those comments because 1- I'm not in the group 2- it's not my job to police peoples awful online behaviour 3 g there are too many to report, the whole post would need to be removed 4- the admins are stirring this behaviour up and clearly revelling in it, they aren't going to delete it are they 5- I have made a thread about being worried that this is acceptable behaviour in society now and what that means about peoples perceptions of refugees. I don't understand why can't wrap your head around this?

I have seen people say that TERFs deserve the abuse they get because they are trying to remove trans people's rights and and paint bad faith pictures of transwomen as predators and people are fed up of their behaviour towards trans people. That has obviously gone down like a cup of cold sick and is unacceptable. So why are you using this to justify the abuse against refugees with the same bullshit that people have had enough so of course they're going to joke about sinking boats? I also see the FWR posters continually complaining about R/Transgender UK, why aren't you all just reporting the posts and getting them removed since you're clearly "on" the group? 🙄 Hypocrisy comes to mind.

Facebook usually gives you page suggestions based on an algorithm which tracks the sort of things you do engage with; perhaps you’ve sought out similar posts or some of your contacts are followers? Bear in mind, that because you’ve now clicked on that page, FB will continue to suggest similar pages to you, and if you click on those then those suggestions are likely to increase. Best way to avoid, is to ignore.

I’ve never seen the page but I just went and searched for it; it’s obviously a click-harvest / rage bait page with false contact info, unless there’s a bar in the Barbican run by a racist game creator… I’ve reported to FB.

No other group is acceptable to joke about shooting killing and drowning, which proves the dehumanisation of refugees because if you joke about shooting and drowning them it's fine because it's "just a joke", "tongue in cheek", "just a few idiots". If people were tongue in cheek joking about killing Jews there would be an audible gasp from everyone in the room and calls if antisemitism.

His determination to attack migrant workers, asylum seekers etc who currently prop up our agricultural sector, our adult care, our NHS is because he says he wants a new system ie a health system based on the US system with predatory insurance companies. So he can make even bigger fortunes. He wants to create a system where our wealth creators ie the working people of this country, have no rights. First he'll come for asylum seekers, (and will we do nothing because we are not asylum seekers), then he will come for foreign people who have been living here for 5, 20, 30 years, (and we will do nothing because we are not foreign), then he will come for Union Members, ordinary workers, until we are all terrified. He'll turn our cities into places of fear. Immigration seats in every hospital, school, care home, farm? Trump style?

I don't use SM other than MN so I haven't been exposed to many people brazenly sharing these sorts of opinions. Only one person I know who seems to agree, but she is all whipped up in a frenzy about disabled people, anyone who gets benefits, anyone who has more than her, less than her and now immigrants.

Where are your stats for all these women and children? The occupants of the asylum hotels are virtually without exception young, undocumented men.
I don’t think denying what is happening is helpful to the debate. I don’t agree with some of the hatred directed at the individual immigrants, but refuse to deny there’s a problem that was brewing, but now appears to have fermented.

I was watching Greek tv - they are experiencing a similar small (large) boats influx. Interestingly there were more women/girls than arrive here by the looks of things, but rather shockingly there were very young pregnant girls - 12 or 13 with menfolk. So many on these threads wave away “cultural differences” but are we to accept what would get a European man thrown in prison ?

An article about child refugees drown, laughing emoji reactions and in the comments people justifying the laughing emojis with comments like "well people have had enough haven't they" as if it that makes it ok!? And more heinous comments like "one less coming in!". And it's my local news paper the Shropshire Star, not a "rage bait group" that only has a few hundred racist nutters whooping wheeing about sinking boats like you have been trying to claim for a few pages here. Just straight up laughing at drowned children because they're refugees out in the open on a community news paper page.

Are you going to stop pretending it's only a few nutters on a rage bait group and this isn't really happening out in the real world now?
