My son has gone on the march

funkadelic · 13/09/2025 10:59

Hi, have been on here years but only lurk, don’t post. But today is the day.
I am in bits. My 22yr old DS is in London on this march. I am shaking and utterly appalled. We differ on politics massively and have done for some time. I work in education, have travelled and am bit of a lefty hippy but to be honest it’s becoming more about values and morals. He is fully immersed in the manosphere algorithm and I’ve always thought he is exploring himself and things and have chats about why he has the opinions he does and try and understand his point of view. I try not to belittle him but try and get him to critically think about things.
But this I can’t deal with. I am so upset that my son has gone to this, and that it is something that is so far away from me and my values, something that I thought I had instilled in him as well.
I am totally aware that it’s triggered embarrassment but that is my issue and I’m not putting that on him. He is still my son and I love him and his passion and interest in the world, just in something I believe is so wrong and makes me sad.
Please talk some sense into me.

why is it acceptable for a country like Barbados to be run by Bajan locals and keep the majority of the population black but it's not OK for Britain to keep the majority of its population white? Anyone?

The majority of the U.K. population is white. Do Barbados ban people of other colours? Or is it an employment thing where they employ a Bajan first (makes sense in a very small place).

OCDmama · 13/09/2025 16:44

@Everythingwillbeokeventually44 if the march is about free speech there'll be a good focus on protesting the hundreds of arrests of peaceful Pro-Palestine supporters last weekend, right?

.....right?

There is absolutely nothing peaceful about pro Palestine protests. Most are hate fulled far left lunatics

DBSFstupid · 13/09/2025 17:20

cardibach · 13/09/2025 17:11

Nope. 110,000 according to the police.
They are behaving pretty thugishly now, from what I can see.

I got my quote wrong - apologies.
It is way way more than 110,000 though
At last the silent majority are speaking up.
The thugs and extreme right wing will always turn up and cause trouble.
How many thousands and thousands are there because they are normal people that have had enough?

Don't be silly. They're not. Concerns about uncontrolled immigration doesnt = being a racist.

No, but marching with SYL does. Or at least makes it likely people will assume that about you.

ExtraOnions · 13/09/2025 17:21

Anotheremptynester · 13/09/2025 17:14

@ExtraOnions Of course mysogny is also in non muslim cultures, but thats not the issue you originally raised. ...

....back to the point....its one thing to cover your head eg male sikhs, male jews and female muslims...but quite another to wear a veil, which is a hindrance and never seen being performed by males. Its not anything a woman would choose for herself without men manipulating her. Hence it should be banned here, unless you think her rights are less than yours?

Edited

I believe if a woman - of any religion, wants to cover themselves, they can do.

If you think women are being forced to cover up, then you can those coverings .. how does that help those women ? They just have to stay indoors, and become even less visible

How do you know they aren’t choosing it ? How many have you spoken to ?

They have form for deliberately underestimating the number of people on marches so I’m sure that has been said.

By 40 odd times?

purplehearts22 · 13/09/2025 17:22

For those of you that don’t have a problem with the illegal immigration situation here in this country can I ask a question? Are you really ok with wide open borders? Fine with undocumented (mostly) men living among us? Do you really have no concerns and if so why is that?

I ask because my thoughts are that we could be letting in jihadists posing as victims fleeing war and seeking asylum how would we know? Do you think that’s rational thinking or am I far right?

DBSFstupid · 13/09/2025 17:22

Uricon2 · 13/09/2025 16:57

It's lead story on the Daily Mail site, with much footage.

You know, that well known organ of Left wing thought, the Mail.

😂

DBSFstupid · 13/09/2025 17:23

Clarabell77 · 13/09/2025 17:04

The headlines I’ve seen have said 900,000, but okay, if we go with 3 million, that’s about 4% of Englands population, if you imagine the distribution of IQ across the population in a bell curve that’s probably about right for the lower end.

Superior? Absolutely!

My god. Listen to yourself.

cardibach · 13/09/2025 17:23

Satisfiedwithanapple · 13/09/2025 17:00

Well according to the ONS 81% of the population are white. I don’t think the 3% is correct.

So not overrun then? Excellent.

They're also injuring police horses. Punching, kicking, throwing missiles. I hope any 'normal people' in that crowd question who it is that they're aligning themselves with.

cardibach · 13/09/2025 17:24

PollieDarton · 13/09/2025 17:01

I asked a question, drop the nastiness. Intent for what? Don’t you think they know what they are there for?

Edited

Intent to be racist. To welcome actual Nazis.

cardibach · 13/09/2025 17:25

2dogsandabudgie · 13/09/2025 17:01

Because that's what we've always done, marched in protest against issues we're not happy with.

Butwhat does the government listening look like?

ACIGC · 13/09/2025 17:25

Good for him

Just somewhere else that lie to us.

Had enough of what?
Lack of free speech?

You likely follow more of this stuff than others. A lot of the things people reference from X or BlueSky like names or what TR is up to isn’t something I see. I’m not on there and miss it unless repeated on here.

Im not 9n X either. And that’s not how I know. But my point is that people against SYL seem better informed than those in support.

sleepwouldbenice · 13/09/2025 17:26

March organised by a prolific racist. I agree with right to protest but its scary to think how many would support the nasty peice of work

DBSFstupid · 13/09/2025 17:26

cardibach · 13/09/2025 17:25

Well yes - absolutely this.

OldMcDonaldHadABigMac · 13/09/2025 17:27

Donttellempike · 13/09/2025 16:42

Because they are racists. You’re welcome

Genuinely - can you explain the difference between racists and people who have genuine concerns about uncontrolled immigration and feel like the government just isn't listening?

usernamealreadytaken · 13/09/2025 17:27

cardibach · 13/09/2025 16:06

This country isn’t great about women either. 2 are killed each week by their partners.

We need to do more to prevent that, but every single crime, assault, rape or murder by a migrant is preventable.

sleepwouldbenice · 13/09/2025 17:27

Even farage doesn't align with him. Although I suspect he will soon...

When has anyone said they don’t have a problem with illegal migration?

What people have a problem with is the dehumanisation of immigrants, and lumping them all together as criminals.

Its the narrative that this is about “violence against women and girls” - when the biggest threat to women and girls are Men in general.

It’s people saying they want to protect the “Christian” values of the country, when they have never been to church in their lives, and wouldn’t know a Christian value if it hit them on the head

If you choose to march with Tommy Robinson?
