My son has gone on the march

Hi, have been on here years but only lurk, don’t post. But today is the day.
I am in bits. My 22yr old DS is in London on this march. I am shaking and utterly appalled. We differ on politics massively and have done for some time. I work in education, have travelled and am bit of a lefty hippy but to be honest it’s becoming more about values and morals. He is fully immersed in the manosphere algorithm and I’ve always thought he is exploring himself and things and have chats about why he has the opinions he does and try and understand his point of view. I try not to belittle him but try and get him to critically think about things.
But this I can’t deal with. I am so upset that my son has gone to this, and that it is something that is so far away from me and my values, something that I thought I had instilled in him as well.
I am totally aware that it’s triggered embarrassment but that is my issue and I’m not putting that on him. He is still my son and I love him and his passion and interest in the world, just in something I believe is so wrong and makes me sad.
Please talk some sense into me.

Let's be honest, the NHS is dire. Whatever we bring in to replace it has got to be better than.what we have now. I had to visit A&E last week with Don who was having asthma episode. Middle of the night, mid week. Standing room only. I was there 6 hours. And I was told that was pretty decent as generally 8 hours. Rang the GP. Number 36 in the queue at 9am in a morning. Trying to get nhs dentist for my aunt. Waiting list of 3 years. It can't continue as it is as its really not fit for purpose. I'd welcome a review.

Sorry to hear that. I know, it’s absolutely atrocious. Farage getting his hands on it will no doubt transpire to be a case of ‘just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse…’, though. In truth, I don’t know what the answer is.

Interesting. When the last Labour government left power, the NHS was viewed as very efficient indeed.

Maybe linked to immigration. We have a bigger population, and too many people using a system that hasn't increased its capacity to accommodate the extra people. It will be interesting to see if Labour pour more money into the NHS money pit, or whether they've come to the realisation that we can't save it in its current format.

It was on a bus in a photo that has been posted on this thread.

Well let’s hope nobody gets the 666 home today. We all know where they are going to end up! 😂

Some of us have lived in other countries under their healthcare systems, and KNOW that the NHS is dire.

But we've all be told that it's our current expensive and not very good system, or a US system.

There are many different ones, but politicians don't dare suggest changes to "Our NHS".

I would welcome a party that is prepared to do that. We have some of the worst health outcomes in the western world.

I do agree with this. I don’t get why so many Britons think it’s either the NHS or the US system and that’s it.

A great turnout. 🇬🇧❤️

With a collective IQ of about 24.

You can't compare our NHS today to 15 years ago. Our country has changed so much since then. Population has increased plus Covid, plus people living longer, more treatments available etc.

I agree wit( your first sentence. I disagree about the reason. Yes, covid had an effect, but shouldn’t be affecting efficiency. It’s about austerity. That’s what did it.

funkadelic · 13/09/2025 11:11

He’s on the march against immigration

It's not a march against immigration. Stopping the boats isn't about stopping immigration, it is about stopping undocumented human trafficking into the country.

The people in those boats are being exploited by smugglers for profit before they enter this country, and then they are exploited for other people's financial gain after they enter this country.

2dogsandabudgie · 13/09/2025 16:13

cardibach · 13/09/2025 15:57

It’s been explained. And no, it’s not like fiction. It’s an actual, well known way of Nazis recognising each other. I knew about it before this.

Edited

Is it? How is that dropped into a conversation then?

here's some sense for you OP... ..what an utterly ridiculous post.
You are "shaking"?

You missed the bit where the Tories massively robbed the public purse.

The key in there is ‘hasn’t increased capacity’. Why is that? It’s not the fault of immigration. It’s austerity.

PandoraSocks · 13/09/2025 16:13

PollieDarton · 13/09/2025 16:05

Oh I see, because an 88 bus just happened to go past that’s a hidden nazi code? Come on seriously? That’s a real stretch. 🙄

Well you would say that.

Out of the 675 bus routes YL had to choose from, it just so happened he chose the 88 route. And then it just so happened that an 88 bus was passing as the photo to promote a far right event was taken.

OK.

I don't believe all Muslims disrespect women. I have been to Muslim countries (was born in one to British parents) and know Muslim men. It is racist to condemn all members of a race or ethnicity because of the actions of a few.

I know a Muslim man from Turkey who came here for the benefit of his daughter's education although it meant a lot of sacrifice.

Edited

Of course not all men will disrespect women. There's always exceptions to the norm. But I would bet that the majority see women as second class citizens. I come across it in my job every day when I speak to them. It's thinly veiled contempt they have for us. Not entirely their fault as its just been something ingrained into them from birth.

cardibach · 13/09/2025 16:14

PollieDarton · 13/09/2025 16:09

You are being sucked in to nazi conspiracy and you think I’m naive? 😳

Well known extreme right winger uses well known extreme right wing code? Not much of a conspiracy.

Nestingbirds · 13/09/2025 16:14

Op might end up losing her son altogether if she decides to be so dogmatic. My dc are adults and have some very ( not main stream) different views to me, but I fully respect their views entirely.

My job isn’t to force feed adult dc with my views or become manipulative /critical/judgemental/threatening or alienating them as a direct consequence or punishment. Op sounds abusive and hyperbolic.

I actually feel sorry for her son, its hideous to have an overbearing mother feeling sick because her child has developed thoughts of his own 🤷‍♀️

Clarabell77 · 13/09/2025 16:15

2dogsandabudgie · 13/09/2025 15:15

What is a nonsense?

The “free speech” march, blaming immigrants for the country’s woes, the flags, the roundabouts and cars being painted, the spreading of racist rhetoric.

Will that do?

EasternStandard · 13/09/2025 16:15

apricotcobbler · 13/09/2025 15:57

And we all want to stop that. But demonising them all as rapists and child abusers and intimidating them isn’t the way to stop it.

AllrightNowBaby · 13/09/2025 16:16

Fgs! You’re shaking because your Ds has diffence of opinion from you 🤷‍♀️
When will people realise that we can’t all think alike and just leave it at that.

cardibach · 13/09/2025 16:16

2dogsandabudgie · 13/09/2025 16:13

Is it? How is that dropped into a conversation then?

It’s not. It’s used on promo material like SYL did to signal to his ‘tribe’. I’ve seen it as a tattoo. Badges. Etc etc.

2dogsandabudgie · 13/09/2025 16:16

BurntBroccoli · 13/09/2025 15:58

Yes it’s totally about Uniting Britain:

Well I doubt there is much to worry about from that post, it only got 10 views.

Thegreyhound · 13/09/2025 16:17

BorgQueen · 13/09/2025 11:07

Would you have this (over) reaction if he had been going on the pro-Pal marches?
If not, why not?

That’s a daft question. World of difference marching for hate and racism and against the bombing of kids.

Have you read the OP? She’s neither being dogmatic nor overbearing.

Well obviously they are so well embedded among us that they can’t tell who each other are. If you stick a picture of a number 88 bus on the internet then they suddenly realise you are winking at them because you recognised them as a fellow nazi. It’s genius really.
