To think ‘most people’ don’t get their windows cleaned this often?

Disagreement in our house today. Do ‘most people’ (which after some discussion was pinned down to people in 30s/40s in eg 3 bed semi with a kid or two 😅) have their windows cleaned every 6-8 weeks?

YABU - of course they do
YANBU - definitely not ‘most’

Single, early 30s and my windows get cleaned every 8 weeks. A new build estate and building is still going on so there’s a lot of dust about.

GreyCarpet · 08/09/2025 19:28

Once a month.

PanEtLesBurgers · 08/09/2025 19:29

Occasionally I think we should get a window cleaner/clean them ourselves. Then it rains heavily and I forget about it again for another 6 months.

I've had mine done twice in 23 years. Needless to say they are filthy. We are surviving.

Edit to add: the insides do get done maybe twice a year.

Edited

I’m the same. Lived here for 4 years and have had them cleaned once. Clean the inside ones very occasionally and they’re fine. Maybe I’m disgusting but we survive .

My window cleaner comes about every 6 weeks.

Same

LazySusans · 08/09/2025 19:30

Once a month is the norm where I live and the same for my Mum who's at the other end of the country.

I have neighbours who don't have theirs cleaned ever and you can tell when in their houses!

I have other neighbours who do them themselves (you can rotate the windows 'inside out' with some double glazing.)

I was having ours done alternate months but it always rained the next day so we now do them ourselves.

I was paying £30 a clean.

Your windows, your choice.

crazeekat · 08/09/2025 19:33

Every four weeks £6. 3 bed semi

BogRollBOGOF · 08/09/2025 19:34

We don't have a window cleaner.
DH occasionally buys some gadget to DIY it and says it's easy.
I've never known him to clean a window. I'm not convinced that his logic stacks up.

Window coverings hide a multitude of sins!

Mamabearandcubs · 08/09/2025 19:34

We don’t have a window cleaner and our windows are just fine.

godmum56 · 08/09/2025 19:34

every 5 to 6 weeks.

knittings · 08/09/2025 19:37

I do mine once a month then i re-tint them.

Shivaughn · 08/09/2025 19:38

A lot of the window cleaners round here only offer every month, or charge virtually the same price to have them every couple of months.

mumoronegirl · 08/09/2025 19:40

All windows monthly

AntiBullshit · 08/09/2025 19:41

I live near a train station and get all sorts of muck, quick wipe with cloth when I remember and done. I’ve given up cleaning with water as they just become smeary. Inside erm maybe 10 years ago if not more

Whyamiherenow · 08/09/2025 19:42

We have a local window cleaner. The windows get cleaned when he turns up. It is supposed to be monthly but is often more like 6-8 weeks. Insides done much less frequently.

cobrakaieaglefang · 08/09/2025 19:45

My window cleaner comes every quarter

Notexactlyasplanned · 08/09/2025 19:46

Our window cleaner suggested once every eight weeks: he reckons that’s enough and no-one’s ever complained ;-) Prior to that I cleaned them myself at erratic times, and no-one ever complained then either

KeenGreen · 08/09/2025 19:48

Ours is meant to be every 8 weeks but occasionally more like 6-8 weeks.

It’s £18 a time so not a massive expense

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 08/09/2025 19:48

I have a window cleaner who comes monthly.

GRex · 08/09/2025 19:48

About every 2-5 months we reach perfection of having a full job done. Like some others, our cleanliness is controlled by the whims of the window cleaner. He will come, sometimes do inside and out, other times just outside or just front outside and then return some weeks later to finish. Sometimes he does outside when we are out and climbs over the roof to finish. One time he was diverted sorting out our guttering on the roof he crosses (leak and tiles fixed while we were out). I sometimes whatsapp with him, see him around at least weekly, never have any idea when he will come nor how much I owe when he has, because I won't know what he did. We let him use our drive to save him buying permits, so sometimes he's there but doesn't even clean ours!!! I'm pretty sure he does the whole neighbourhood, and every now and then someone will be asking if someone else can book him to come by and do our road. And yet, we all stay clean enough and the competition letterbox adverts get binned. He's utterly adorable and charms everyone he meets, but I've no idea how he makes it all work.

Wethers121 · 08/09/2025 19:49

Ours is once a month

LillyPJ · 08/09/2025 19:49

My window cleaner comes every 5 weeks but a lot of people I know don't have their windows cleaned at all.

rrrrrreatt · 08/09/2025 19:49

Ours get done once a month outside, inside…when the cat face marks annoy me too much 😂

BettysRoasties · 08/09/2025 19:49

We clean then when they look like they could do with being done. We have the pole to do it.

The neighbour seems to get them done monthly but it’s the only house I see getting them done.
