To think ‘most people’ don’t get their windows cleaned this often?

Disagreement in our house today. Do ‘most people’ (which after some discussion was pinned down to people in 30s/40s in eg 3 bed semi with a kid or two 😅) have their windows cleaned every 6-8 weeks?

YABU - of course they do
YANBU - definitely not ‘most’

OMG 😆😆 They must be filthy! Get them cleaned…you’ll be amazed at the difference!

Mine are done every 2 months. We live near the coast, so they get filthy.

Growing up, never! Or maybe they did get cleaned, but DIY and definitely not often.

Ours are grubby, busy road and by 6 weeks they definitely need doing. I never noticed them being dirty growing up, and parents still live there and they dont seem dirty now so I very much think it depends on your environment.

Can't DIY our upstairs - I tried because I hate paying for something I can do myself.

Our window cleaner is once a month, then I clean windows inside once a week.

He cleans the whole street so everyone here has them cleaned once every 4 weeks.

Ours get done once a month. Window cleaner has a van with tanks of de-ionised water in and long hoses. Neighbour two doors down has theirs done as well by the same company.

We are on a daytime busy road. We're in a semi and I can see my NDN's windows out of mine, and believe me I can tell theirs don't get done!

Once every couple of years maybe, if I'm organised 😬

Ours are done once a month. Would have preferred every 2 months but he wouldn’t agree to that. Couple of other guys i priced wanted every 2 or every 3 weeks so once a month at a £10 (4 bed detached front & back including patio doors) is my compromise. That being said i’m in a new build estate and almost everyone here gets them done on one of the time frames above.

when we first moved in it was about 4 months before we sorted a window cleaner and the windows were bad at the front as winter & not so bad at the back but this way i don’t have to worry about it.

I know! I had no idea people cleaned windows/had them cleaned so often!

I do my own downstairs as and when they need it! One off clean for upstairs though I’ve been eyeing up those extendable pole things so I can do those too.

I get mine done about once a year. We aren't near a main road so no pollution to speak of and they really don't look that bad. I clean the insides if I can see hand prints etc and I clear up condensation when needed.

I really don't have spare money for keeping up with the Joneses, which is the only reason I can see for cleaning windows every few weeks.

About every 6-8 weeks - there's a firm of window cleaners who do several houses on the terrace roughly to that pattern. I can't reach the first floor windows by myself, let alone the attic, so I'm happy with them doing it.

Ours have been done twice in sixteen years, but we have multiple panes of glass in each window which means a regular window cleaner would cost a fortune and we're too lazy to do it ourselves (the room I am sitting in now has three windows, but they include 40 separate panes of glass which would need cleaning separately).

The windows are quite small and the walls thick, so I always tell people it's a naturally dark house but maybe the sun just can't penetrate the layer of grime on the windows??? 😂

Our window cleaner comes every 5 weeks.

No window cleaner and I don’t clean them either. Three years and counting. I don’t particularly want to see the electricity substation out the back or the recycling and waste incinerator out the front.

The prices on here seem quite reasonable. My ex window cleaner wanted £10 for not that many windows five years ago. It only took him 10 mins max.

I think that monthly is normal, but as long as theyre clean, it doesnt matter really

My window cleaner comes every two weeks - and has done for 20 years! I didn't realise how 'above average' this was!

Have never had my windows cleaned! They are not dirty, I mean we can still see out. That’s enough isn’t it?

Erm.. mine comes every two weeks to do the front windows, but we live on a lane which gets quite splashy. The neighbours don’t get theirs done at all and I honestly don’t know how they see out, they’re so mucky they look frosted. Back windows are only done in spring and summer.

Based on the vote so far, I would say half do, half don't!

Every 5 weeks, front, side and back, including patio doors.
I like clean windows!

I don't know what most people do but we get ours done every 6 weeks.
