To think Tesco should fuck off

It’s still August for fucks sake.

Does ANYONE want to see Christmas shit in the supermarkets in the summer holidays?

Drives me crazy that you can’t buy summer clothes in the shops in August as it’s now full of jumpers/winter stock. Plus Christmas!

PInkyStarfish · 28/08/2025 21:17

I think it’s disgusting. As a child growing up the magic of Christmas started in December so there was just a few weeks of anticipation, more than enough time to be excited for Christmas.

I feel sorry for parents and children nowadays when they see it all in the shops months away from Christmas so that excitement wanes long before Christmas.

Rosscameasdoody · 28/08/2025 20:12

Because the Christmas advertising gives it the festive feel and if it starts in August you’re going to be heartily sick of it by the time it actually does roll round. I think it’s jut greed on the part of the retailers.

I'm never heartily sick of Christmas so speak for yourself!

Yes, last year's stock to shift, and tricking people such as dm to buy it twice (falls for it every year without fail). 🤔

I hope the mince pies aren't last years

LadeOde · 28/08/2025 21:20

I went to Costco about 3 weeks ago and they had all the wrapping paper and some other xmas stuff. No wonder i cant get anything to buy there in October, its already gone. Its annoying but what can we do when people continue to buy? if they ignored them the stores would have no choice but to stock them at a more appropriate time.

They won't be because they always sell out.
Also shops don't have space to keep leftover Christmas stock from the year before.

SplinterInMyToe · 28/08/2025 21:23

Notcutts garden centre preparing for Christmas today with baubles and tinsel galore. It’s too early. We haven’t had Halloween or Bonfire night yet. 🎄

It wont be long till the creme eggs & easter eggs are on sale.

This is why christmas doesnt feel like christmas anymore.

Boxing day usually.
Although they annoy me infinity less than this bollocking carry on.

Lkatsea · 28/08/2025 21:28

My kids were jumping up and down singing Christmas songs when they saw this today, even said we should start putting on Christmas films and asking if that means heart Xmas will be on! You'd hate our house at Christmas -within a lot of it is to about husband who's a grinch until 1dt December!

Vaxtable · 28/08/2025 21:29

It’s standard. Local shops sell Easter eggs on boxing day!

wakemeupwhenseptembercomes · 28/08/2025 21:29

Does my head in.
Too early. Still on summer break.

We often amuse ourselves in the supermarket when they put this stuff out ridiculously early by checking to see what the earliest sell by date is. I think last year it was BBE October 2024 on a box of Mr Kipling mince pies.

PeloMom · 28/08/2025 21:31

😱
I’ve only seen Halloween stuff and thought it’s a bit early for it… but Xmas… nope! That’s ridiculous

I got minced pies last December and they tasted rancid. They were barely in date (a couple of days to expiry) and was like early Dec

Fairislesweaters · 28/08/2025 21:34

Makes me really sad, Christmas isn't a great time for me, for lots of reasons, I don't really want reminders of it in the summer holidays. I know retailers have to be prepared but putting it out on display this early is greedy profiteering imo. We are in a cost of living crisis and walking past this then food bank collection at the checkout is really ridiculous

JailhouseRocker · 28/08/2025 21:34

TheDandyLion · 28/08/2025 19:32

The week after August bank holiday. Tis normal no?

When I worked in Tescos 20 years ago, the Christmas stuff was bursting out of the warehouse over the August bank holiday. It’s nothing new… I just think they aren’t very subtle about it anymore.
If anyone asks them about it ( or any other supermarket ) they just say they are helping their customers budget by giving them longer to buy pointless shite
budget and spread the cost!

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 28/08/2025 21:34

If I hear even a whisper of Noddy Holder telling me that itssss Chrismassss before December 1st then I will burn down my local Tesco!

whitewineandsun · 28/08/2025 21:35

This is why when we get to December I just want Christmas over with.

Toottooot · 28/08/2025 21:37

Same. It just makes me feel ancient yearn for the 80s/90s/early 00s when you didn't start seeing, hearing or getting excited over it until after bonfire night. Made it so much more enjoyable IMO.

Dutchhouse14 · 28/08/2025 21:40

It's ridiculous, all the shops can f* off.
I love Xmas but August is ridiculous, earliest should be after Halloween.

WaitWhatWhatWait · 28/08/2025 21:40

While I don't disagree it's ridiculously early, people must be buying it otherwise the shops wouldn't be selling it. I refuse to buy Christmas stuff until after Hallowe'en.

Mopsy567 · 28/08/2025 21:41

Its getting earlier every year. One day, they will begin Christmas prep for next year on Boxing Day and there won't be any gap at all. It will be a year long Christmas countdown.

How many sleeps until Christmas? Only 364!

Beachtastic · 28/08/2025 21:41

I won't hear a bad word said against Tesco. I bloody love that shop and would marry it if it existed in human form.

Jamesblonde2 · 28/08/2025 21:42

Ridiculous!
