To think Tesco should fuck off

It’s still August for fucks sake.

Does ANYONE want to see Christmas shit in the supermarkets in the summer holidays?

Have been prepping for Christmas for a while now, to be honest it shows restraint by the supermarket as there's only 4 months to go! I always take all of December off and we go away somewhere magical 3 weeks before the big day and get back a week before. Whole house decorated the day after Halloween. Children and hubby love it.

Nothing else to look forward to after the August bank holiday

Yes there is, peace.

No. It can wait until December as far as I'm concerned.

It gets earlier and earlier !

It’s doesn’t, it’s been coming out at this time
for several years now.
This is one good thing about America. At the time they would be putting Fall and Halloween stuff out. Only after Halloween does the excessive Xmas stuff start to appear.

menopausalmare · 28/08/2025 20:17

There's something very wrong about shopping for Christmas in shorts and flip flops.

Cece92 · 28/08/2025 20:18

My daughters came home from her dads via Tesco and got a blood Lindt Santa 🤦🏻‍♀️

ChocolateCinderToffee · 28/08/2025 20:19

It's everywhere, including on Mumsnet. There's a whole thread of people drooling over Christmas bargains.

I've personally decided barely to acknowledge the festive season this year. I added up what I spent last year and decided to spend it on a nice holiday in February.

kyssedbyfyre · 28/08/2025 20:20

get set. get festive. get tae fuck🙄

Nofrillsandpeace · 28/08/2025 20:21

Pps saying plenty shelf space, well they need to use it to stock everyday items. If you want a box of festive Mr Kipling you're sorted, although I do hope all of the people stocking up realise the dates are short (left overs from last year probably). They're wanting you to buy it twice... ha hem DM!

Hottchoc · 28/08/2025 20:21

I love it! Been to Costco today to see what Christmas stuff is our and coight a couple things

gmgnts · 28/08/2025 20:22

This is awful. I came home yesterday ranting about how Tesco have Hallowe'en tat out on display already, but I didn't realise that Xmas had crept in too! 😩

WhereAreAllTheHairBobbles · 28/08/2025 20:22

B&M have all their food gifts out. All their toiletries type gifts and a fair amount of home decor
My friend said home bargains have too.

Also all their Halloween

I like to pick bits up weekly from Sept to stash so I like to see it all personally.

I love love love Christmas. But it has to be after Halloween at least for festivities. YANBU

Halloween is October. I love christmas. In December

They have Thanksgiving though.
It's often said American shops don't have Christmas products out until after thanksgiving but I expect the Thanksgiving food, special deals on beer, tableware, crafts for the kids, novelty ornaments of turkeys etc are piled up to the ceiling of your average Walmart several weeks ahead of time.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 28/08/2025 19:33

If it didnt sell they wouldn't waste shelf space on it.
Enough people must buy at this time of year for it to be financially worthwhile.

Well actually it would work for a lot of people who struggle to pay for Christmas. Layaway is an awful system that has always exploited the poorest families by overcharging for basic goods. Where possible, being able to buy a few things a week can make an enormous difference to families that struggle.

To be honest December weather is so mild these days that people often are out Christmas shopping in shorts and t-shirts 😂

Oldglasses · 28/08/2025 20:29

It’s ridiculous- soon they’ll have Christmas stock in before New Year’s Eve!!

It's a lonely time for so many people, I'm so sorry @Surveille222
If it makes any difference at all, most of these huge family gatherings simply "tolerate" one other anyway. You see threads on here all of the time about Christmas drama.
I hope you have a friend or two to see over Christmas. If there's one person I could bring back it would be df, what I wouldn't give to relive a Christmas day with him.

smoulderingmould · 28/08/2025 20:29

That is depressing

Anon9898 · 28/08/2025 20:30

I think as prices are higher now people are spreading the cost. After all it's only 4 or 5 paydays and every penny helps

RedRiverShore5 · 28/08/2025 20:32

I thought they had done something really bad, not just put the Christmas aisle out

smoulderingmould · 28/08/2025 20:33

Many people do have to start Christmas shopping early as they can’t afford it all at once. They buy a couple of bits each week and put them in the Christmas cupboard

I don't get this, why can't they save the money they would spend in Aug and spend it in Oct?

OhNoNotSusan · 28/08/2025 20:34

i saw a box of quality street, about £8
no wonder it is out early!
