To think Tesco should fuck off

It’s still August for fucks sake.

Does ANYONE want to see Christmas shit in the supermarkets in the summer holidays?

I picked YABU, because it's not just Tesco. I have been in B & M, Morrisons, and Sainsburys today, and they ALL have the Christmas stock starting to appear on the shelves. They've had the Halloween stuff there, since the end of July!

Undoundid · 28/08/2025 19:40

My birthday isn't until April and they're already selling cards for that.

PennyWorth · 28/08/2025 19:40

We went to Costco last weekend and they also have Christmas stuff out!

AliasGrape · 28/08/2025 19:41

I’m getting pissed off with all the autumn andHalloween stuff everywhere and certainly not ready for bloody Christmas! I do actually want to buy a really lovely glass pumpkin candle I’ve seen as it smelled divine, but I’m refusing to do it until October (probably be gone by then and the shop will be selling Easter bunny ones or something).

Don’t get me wrong I actually love Autumn/ Halloween and definitely Christmas but I like this stuff in the right time for it. It’s like we can’t enjoy anything anymore, it’s always what’s next. I watch far too much shite on TikTok for someone my age, but it does make me laugh the women on there banging on about how they love autumn, are Halloween fans, this is their season - then before it’s even here we’re into Christmas then that’s down before NYE and it’s all ‘ooh I can’t wait for Spring let’s taste test these new hot cross buns’.

How about finding things to appreciate and enjoy in all the seasons but when you’re actually there and not 5 months before?!

I love love love Christmas. But it has to be after Halloween at least for festivities. YANBU

Same and same

andanotherproblem · 28/08/2025 19:42

I am the opposite, I’m eagerly awaiting all the Christmas stock

Needmorelego · 28/08/2025 19:42

Just ignore it and don't buy any of the products if you don't want too.

Peelgirl76 · 28/08/2025 19:43

Christ all fucking mighty - just no!

Sera1989 · 28/08/2025 19:43

I just don’t understand the thinking behind it. Some people are still going on their summer holidays! I assume they wouldn’t bother unless people actually start buying it… but who is?? If it’s about budgeting then people could start saving in August and spend it all in December, the actual month of Christmas. Halloween comes first!

I quite agree, they can all get in the bin.

it actually puts me off going in there in August, September and October as it just spoils it.

Thankfully Lidl and Aldi seem to be able to restrain themselves a little bit more, so I’ll do my shopping with them instead.

It’s everywhere. If you don’t like it don’t buy it. Simple! Many people do have to start Christmas shopping early as they can’t afford it all at once. They buy a couple of bits each week and put them in the Christmas cupboard.

BloodandGlitter · 28/08/2025 19:44

Didn't spot any Xmas stuff in M&S or TK Maxx today, thankfully.

ilovepixie · 28/08/2025 19:45

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 28/08/2025 19:33

If it didnt sell they wouldn't waste shelf space on it.
Enough people must buy at this time of year for it to be financially worthwhile.

Excatly. Space in a supermarket is at a premium. They’re not going to have stuff on the shop floor that doesn’t sell.

SchnizelVonKrumm · 28/08/2025 19:22

You've fallen right into their trap by posting about it!

Yes, free advertising, get yourself down to Tesco people! We've actually just received those money off vouchers through the door, I didn't know anybody still did paper ones. 🤔

I was thinking this on the way home and wondering if I was being mean because proper need time to stock up but then I thought no one needs to buy twiglets for Christmas in August, just save the money in August and buy them in bloody November!

I love Christmas. I have started my Christmas shopping (online)and am already thinking about my xmas menus.

But there is a time. I dont want my tree up before December and I definitely dont want to see Xmas stuff in the shops before November. Its still summer!

LOL I feel this way too, and I LOVE Christmas. I must admit I don't know ANYone who is buying Christmas stuff at the end of August. Literally no-one! Even I don't start til the first or second week in October, and I think that is quite early! Christmas in August FFS! Hmm

Gowlett · 28/08/2025 19:46

I noticed a beauty gifts shelf in M&S last week…

OneMoreProfiterole · 28/08/2025 19:46

Saw this in my local Tesco yesterday. Would like to say sorry to the poor guy setting out the display when I walked up behind him and said a lot louder than was necessary ‘are you having a laugh? Frightened the life out of him 🤣

PurpleChrayn · 28/08/2025 19:46

It’s good for people on low incomes who have to buy piecemeal as and when they can afford to.

Theunamedcat · 28/08/2025 19:47

Sainsburys are selling mince pies i noticed Monday 😳

ITS FUCKING AUGUST

And it does sell 😂
Christmas products sell over and over and constantly have to be refilled.
People buy them. That's why they're there.

Arguably could put those amounts they're spending into a savings pot. I think the stock being out longer risks people overspending.

It wont be long till the creme eggs & easter eggs are on sale.

This is why christmas doesnt feel like christmas anymore.

They went on sale on Boxing Day round here last year.

We haven’t even had our holiday yet!

Must add - my xmas shopping is for presents, not xmas stuff. For years I have managed to get all my xmas gift shopping done by November which means December money is for food and days out.

I am not stocking my cupboards with chocolates (because I'd eat them anyway) and brussel sprouts!
