Is one spoilt entitled brat who has broken his parents hearts, not that I am a great fan of the Beckhams, at least they have worked all their lives and would not betray their parents!

They pimped out their three sons to build brand Beckham.

They really didn’t. Brand Beckham was built if D&V and whatever you think of them, they are grafters. David obsessively practiced since childhood and Victoria pushed and pushed for her career

I admire them. He's pretty down to earth and likeable. She has made a good career for herself starting from scratch. I never can fathom dislike of them.

“Starting from scratch”? She has a billionaire father, and he was executive producer on the film she got a part in. Are you suggesting there was no nepotism involved there?

I have never been caught up in the "Posh and Becks" Mania. Personally I've felt Victoria has always had a bit of a high and mighty attitude considering she was carried a lot by the other Spice Girls and didn't sing as much as the others. She then got even more full of herself once she met David. I wasn't keen on her Autobiography either, thought it was quite bitchy and I don't think she was particularly honest in a few parts either. I can imagine David is hard work behind closed doors as well, but who knows.

NetZeroZealot · 28/08/2025 07:32

Try reading a book instead.

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 28/08/2025 07:33

I’m not buying that it’s difficult for the children of famous people to have ‘normal jobs’. He is insanely rich and could do ANYTHING he fancied. There’d the be initial press flurry if he worked in a garden centre but people would quickly lose interest. Same with Meghan and Harry. No one would give a shit if they didn’t keep yapping on about how hard it was to grow up a multimillionaire.

MrsMitford3 · 28/08/2025 07:40

What a thoroughly unpleasant thread.

XiCi · 28/08/2025 07:46

I think he probably had a deeply unhappy childhood. Likely witnessed DBs many infidelities and the effects on his mother. VB seemed to use him as a crutch. Both exposed him to the media at a very early age just to build their brand. Tried to push him into careers that he was clearly going to fail at then be crucified by the media (ie the photography book). The way the Beckhams have responded to the fall out, basically a take down of his wife via their daily mail lackies, has been absolutely revolting and likely ended any chance of a reconciliation. BB has remained silent throughout which is to his credit. I hope he is able to go on and build a life for himself

Serpentstooth · 28/08/2025 07:47

Conversation at work with delightful young colleague. 'Oh, Carolyn, that's not right, it's quite dangerous, we do xxx this way here. Did you not cover that at school?' I forget what the actual small problem was but I haven't forgotten her reply 'Oh, sorry. I find out every day that I don't know anything. I went to a private school and spent most of my time with the horses' she wasn't dim, she was shockingly under-educated at a cost of thousands. You don't always get what you pay for.

So, I’ve no idea and little interest about what’s happened but there’s no correlation between working and being a good parent , you do know that don’t you?

Denim4ever · 28/08/2025 07:57

Itstwelveoclocksomewhere · 27/08/2025 22:03

You have mentioned private schools twice.
Why?
Children all have different abilities. Some kids, regardless of where they are educated, will never be high achievers.
Surely the aim of any educational institution is to educate their students to meet their full potential. Not everybody has the potential to achieve top scores.

Well, I know that many private schools don't keep underachievers on. Money seems to talk for these celebs though

Just like the royals. None of the royals would be thrown out of a private school for underachieving, would they. Money and celebrity status does indeed talk.

I don’t warm to him when I’ve seen him interviewed.

Kicking people when they're down seems to be an MN speciality.

We don't know what happened so there's no reason to assume he is at fault here. Most likely there's blame on both sides but the people I've known to go NC with their parents have usually done so to protect themselves from very toxic relationships.

It's not his fault if he isn't very clever or talented. He has the advantage of wealth so why not try out different things to see if he can find something that works for him?

Imagine growing up with the eyes of the world on you and having no say or choice in the matter. Having a baying mob of paparazzi banging on your car when you're a small child. I watched the Beckham documentary on Netflix and there was some really disturbing stuff. Add in a father who very publicly cheated on his mother. A mother with an eating disorder. And a father with OCD and maybe a bit controlling? I don't think it would have been the most relaxed and happy childhood.

Totally agree and yes he is a bit wet but i think maybe he met a functional family and realised how dysfunctional his is and his father has had loads of affairs , he wants to find his way and victoria is totally paranoid hes going to start talking about things

Themouserandown · 28/08/2025 08:30

Perhaps he’s grown up and seen things in his parents and their parenting/branding that have changed his opinion about them. He became a man and a husband. Maybe he saw his father and his affairs in a new light. If the affair with his daughter’s teacher and the child born is true, maybe he has feelings about that too, The branding of their family and the photos of his mom draping herself around him like an accessory…

I’m sure they are loving parents but that doesn’t make them good ones.

I think the vow renewal was prob them creating a new memory after whatever went down on their wedding day.

  • loving parents
Firstholiday · 28/08/2025 08:36

I wondered whether the estrangement is a publicity stunt to keep the public on their side. Cannot believe still how DB got that knighthood

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/08/2025 08:38

I always felt sorry for those kids, at least at first, for being given such stupid names.

2021x · 28/08/2025 08:42

To give perspective I am currently no contact with my parents. Not my choice, but that’s not how my mum sees it.

We are unable to have a conversation without one or both of us ending up feeling like shit. I have suggested family counselling and mediation. mum has refused and at this point it is better for me to focus on building a life for myself.

It is very painful on my end, and I have no doubt that it is painful on hers. I empathise with both parties and hope they can make amends when time has passed.

romdowa · 28/08/2025 08:44

Children don't stop talking to their parents for no reason. There is always a reason

PoshDuckQuarkQuark · 28/08/2025 08:46

@Thomasina79 I'd be more amused by people who are interested in the lives of people they have never even met!

Unless you're saying you're besties with posh and becks and have inside information.

You dont have to be rich to be a self entitled spoilt brat. I have taught plenty of poor brats too!

Seymour5 · 28/08/2025 08:48

Kendodd · 28/08/2025 06:04

I think the problem for kids with hugely successful parents is that anything ordinary they do looks like failure in comparison. So if they got just an ordinary office or shop job, which there's absolutely nothing wrong with, it looks like failure. They have to try to be some sort of super success which is unachievable and unrealistic for most of them.

Some of Gordon Ramsay’s kids seem to be breaking that rule. For example the eldest is a police officer, another is in the Marines. I’m not a big fan of his programmes, but he seems to be an ok parent. Purported to be good friends with the Beckhams.

I feel sorry for any family where disagreements and rifts are publicly exposed and picked over. First generation privilege seems often to backfire. Brooklyn looks like a lost soul.

I also read today that Victoria's brand is on trouble again

I read the complete opposite. That her beauty department has absolutely soared and she sells an eyeliner every 30 seconds in the UK alone.

I'm now on my third eyeliner and I've got 2 of her eyeshadow pens and her perfume is incredible.

Her beauty brand is absolutely worth every penny

Sales at Victoria Beckham's fashion and beauty brand pass £100m for first time

The brand was founded by the former Spice Girl in 2008

queenMab99 · 28/08/2025 08:52

I think it is probably all fake, and the whole family are just playing for attention. It's only the attention and publicity they get that keeps the brand of these families going.

OneKhakiFish · 28/08/2025 08:54

The media tells their own story! Don't know him personally so can't comment

Timble · 28/08/2025 08:59

I feel sorry for him. His parents are incredibly famous. His dad was one of the best footballers and his mum was in one of the most famous girl bands in the world. So what if he doesn’t have any skills and talent. Most people don’t, most people work average jobs and that’s not really available to him. It’s all well and good that they have lots of money but his life has been in the public eye forever. People waiting to see him fail and loving every second of it.
