To think that Brooklyn Beckham

Is one spoilt entitled brat who has broken his parents hearts, not that I am a great fan of the Beckhams, at least they have worked all their lives and would not betray their parents!

Yes it is true, she famously admitted that she had never read a book so shes not going to be interested in her children being 'cultured' . I 100% believe that Brooklyn has had a toxic childhood and probably only realised how bad it was when he became part of Nicola's family. Not sure why people aren't believing the wedding dance story. It was widely reported at the time, along with photos of Nicola crying with her bridesmaids about it. Not only did she hijack the first dance but Marc Anthony, good friend of Victoria and David, announced Victoria as 'the most beautiful woman in the room' . Shocking behaviour at your sons wedding.

That’s on Marc, surely, unless she gave him a script.

Yes! I wonder this too! Its like they simultaneously need and hate the media... I like to think I'd have a life of meaningful projects, reading, gardening and spending time with friends...
Feel sorry for Brooklyn and children like him. They seem unhappy and aimless.

Yeah, and also, surely those 'meaningful projects' are things you're only likely to have discovered if you'd been forced to work, pursue your own independent life and actually develop some skills when younger? It's one thing to be middle-aged, burnt out and with a long list of meaningful hobbies and causes you'd like to get involved in, quite another to be in your early twenties with access to more family money than you could ever spend, and thus little incentive to develop any real skills in anything. BB quite clearly isn't very academic, and he'd have been much better off being born in a normal family where he could have gotten a normal job, and gone on to lead a normal life where work and providing for a family provides some meaning and satisfaction. But that option's closed to him, and he doesn't have the talent to make a career in sports, arts, fashion, culture, anything 'high profile' - just like 99% of the rest of us.

Ultimately I feel sorry for him, I agree he's had an easier life than a child born in penury but I think he'd have been much happier in a normal family.

I agree. And it looks like his parents just assumed that he would go into 'showbiz' from birth, so didn't need to get any kind of education. It doesn't look like he was allowed to just learn and develop any kind of interest in anything without it being taken over by his parents, who took away any incentive or need to work on it- like the photography thing. Normal parents would have said 'Well, try this out, go to do a course where you can learn about photography, see if you have a talent for it etc. The Beckhams just removed all obstacles and got his rubbish and easily mocked book published. Same with all the other 'careers' he's had. You need to have a work ethic instilled into you to be able to work on your interests and advice from parents. Of course if your parents said 'Don't bother with any of that, we'll sort it out' you aren't going to bother. It is strange that the Beckhams have decided to do that, considering how hard both of them have worked, with average, I would say, talent in both their fields amongst their peers (even Beckham was never an amazing footballer. More a good one.)

Fizbosshoes · 20/01/2026 13:39

I think it was always being to be difficult unless they had natural gift or talent. Several of Beckhams peers have sons who are now footballers
But being in the public eye from the start and almost under pressure to be, or do, something special is a difficult position. If hed gone, as a teenager, to work in a garden centre or a pub or coffee shop, the media would have probably mocked him for that....that it was too ordinary, and hed somehow failed. If he wasnt a "known" name or face, he might have had that chance.

Obviously the conventional way to become a successful photographer or chef, is first to have a talent or aptitude for it, then start with basics and work your way up....but through the Beckhams connections he was probably offered an opportunity they all thought was too good to turn down. (And then was ridiculed because he was, really at a beginner stage, and not ready to publish a book, or have a cookery slot)

If you look at VB she's become a world famous fashion designer....because she wanted to, not because she's spent years cutting patterns, designing, going to college, hunched over a sewing machine for hours on end. Despite all her protests about working hard, she did bypass a lot of steps that any other aspiring designer would be taking.

Of course if your parents said 'Don't bother with any of that, we'll sort it out' you aren't going to bother.
And they are doing exactly the same with Cruz and his music career. And Romeo too - though I don't know what he is doing now. I think his football career has stalled.

Serpentstooth · 20/01/2026 17:23

I expect Ramsay would have given him an apprenticeship if BB wanted to cook - and, face it, the Beckhams aren't short of contacts, so I'd also expect similar suggestions were made by others. Ramsay though, wouldn't tolerate a slacker., I suspect BB is difficult to motivate and loses focus easily. With no evidence other than my own bias, I think he's probably quite hard work on a day to day basis. Wish them all well though. Glad it's not me and mine.

Success? 😂 the kid has failed at everything he’s done!

I can’t imagine D&V would have encouraged any of the kids to follow a
’standard’ career path as being a plumber/accountant/ teacher does not fit in with the brand. I think all of the kids have been or will been pushed into creative/high profile careers from a young age despite lack of ability or talent.

They’ve exploited their kids and made them believe their own hype which is going to royally fuck them up.

Itcantbetrue · 20/01/2026 18:13

@User14March it sounds like pay back ie they have been slagging Nicola off and he's soothing vb

Gowlett · 20/01/2026 18:53

The Beckhams are the Peatys in this scenario, when you think about it. Which is funny, since they featured so heavily in the Ramsay wedding. Same way that AP mother might have felt intimidated by them, their wealth, power… Victoria is very insecure, and clearly uncomfortable around richer, thinner, younger, more beautiful women. She’s always been like this.
