To think that Brooklyn Beckham

Is one spoilt entitled brat who has broken his parents hearts, not that I am a great fan of the Beckhams, at least they have worked all their lives and would not betray their parents!

He’s a figure in the public eye. He wants people to take an interest in him and his doings. So people who are interested discuss him.

Discussion is one thing. Character assassination is another matter entirely.

I do apologise, I didn’t realise you were the thread police.

Bloke's a complete salad. His wife isn't even a complete salad.

I admire them. He's pretty down to earth and likeable. She has made a good career for herself starting from scratch. I never can fathom dislike of them.

Fizbosshoes · 28/08/2025 01:10

Agree with PP, David Beckham was a great footballer, VB was pretty average but very ambitious (and to a degree, in the right place at the right time)
Together at the height of their fame they cashed in on making a brand.
It seems like their kids are quite average - same as the vast majority of people....but without needing the same ambition as vb, because they're already famous from being in the limelight their entire lives much of it without their consent

I feel a bit sorry for them, theres almost an expectation for them to be great at something, and a lot of publicity at anything they try - whether successful or not

Calliopespa · 28/08/2025 01:14

Mean thread, mean comments.

It would be awful to grow up in the public eye because of something your parents got famous for.

I similarly think its hard for members of the RF. Everyone loves to hate people in these sorts of situations yet they have done nothing to make them responsible for being born a target.

KiteFlight · 28/08/2025 01:17

We can’t know what life in the Beckham household was really like. Instagram is all fake.
All families can have issues, just because people are rich and famous doesn’t mean they must be perfect parents. We see images of them everywhere, but we haven’t seen how Victoria and David parented their children on a daily basis.

I think without knowing them personally we can’t judge Brooklyn. We have no idea why he has made the decisions he has, he might have very valid reasons.

LancashireButterPie · 28/08/2025 01:34

I've met VB a few times out and about with her boys when they were little. She was always really polite and down to earth. I don't get the dislike? They give loads to children's charities and pay their taxes.
I feel sorry for any family playing out their dramas in public and let's face it, most families have their dramas.

Phatgurslyms · 28/08/2025 02:05

pizzaHeart · 27/08/2025 21:57

Aaa thank you!

its bad that he’s needed to renew his vows already (who is so thick that can’t keep his wedding vows for such a short period) but to exclude so openly his parents and siblings looks really rude whatever their disagreements are.
He clearly wants to be a new Harry.

And yet Mumsnetters very often advise people to go nc with toxic families and to let it be known that they will not be looking after said parents when they become old and frail.

at least they have worked all their lives and would not betray their parents!

They pimped out their three sons to build brand Beckham.

And David Beckham did go no contact with his own dad. Some media outlets have suggested BB is only doing exactly what his dad did.

LoudSnoringDog · 28/08/2025 02:17

I watched a video of him making tomato pasta on Instagram yesterday. Was like watching a year 7 kid do their first home economics class. He was SLAUGHTERED in the comments and justifiably so. He has zero talent and is living off Brand Beckham. That’s not his fault of course but he needs a wake up call.

MegsNaiceJam · 28/08/2025 05:42

I don’t know him at all so no idea if he is a knob or not.
In my former career, I worked with David and Victoria, and they were always thoroughly nice people. I hope, whatever it is, gets resolved.

I agree. I dont like them much.

I think the problem for kids with hugely successful parents is that anything ordinary they do looks like failure in comparison. So if they got just an ordinary office or shop job, which there's absolutely nothing wrong with, it looks like failure. They have to try to be some sort of super success which is unachievable and unrealistic for most of them.

Oh come on the Beckhams like many others have the paps ready for the obligatory photos it’s all PR! You know the saying any publicity is good publicity to keep them in the limelight. They know what they’re doing playing it out publicly

This is a really good point.

It's very difficult for them to have a "normal" job.

Tablesandchairs23 · 28/08/2025 06:20

We've no idea what his upbringing was like or what happened. We know his parents are publicity hungry and wheeled the kids out for any opportunity. Why are you so interested you don't know them.

JamPotJenny · 28/08/2025 06:24

What had he done that’s of any substance?

They live in different worlds to most of us. I’m a uni graduate who teaches in a city secondary school. I watch the pennies.

I’ve been looking for a 2nd hand car for DD who is learning to drive - she works SO hard in school and at her part-time job - a car would be a dream come true. Don’t think I can afford it right now though so it’s going to be a priority for next year.

These kids have wanted for nothing and it’s hard not to feel some sort of negativity towards someone who seems to court public attention for doing absolutely fuck all and on the surface of things, doesn’t appear to be a very nice person.

They are totally disconnected from reality.

It depends. Two of Gordon Ramsey’s kids have ‘ordinary’ jobs, and I’m sure there are other high profile people that’s true of.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 28/08/2025 06:36

There's already a Brooklyn Beckham thread going.

His Dad's a serial cheat. His Mum's a door mat. He's been thrust into the spotlight since birth for the money. The wholesome family image is carefully curated for the gullible public.

Brand Beckham isn't about truth it's all for show. No man who truly loves his wife or family would continue to humiliate them the way David does. Also have we forgotten about his emails about not getting a knighthood? That's the true David Beckham, even his waiting in line to see the Queen lying in state would have been carefully planned.

He was also an average footballer who got lucky. The others in his year group just didn't have the same PR or popstar wife.

No wonder Brooklyn has had enough.

JustMyView13 · 28/08/2025 06:36

I’ve voted YABU because you only know what’s reported in the media. None of us know what’s actually gone on. Plenty of people on here cut out family members for a variety of reasons.

I’ve just remembered that the pretty successful Bruce Springsteen has a son who’s a firefighter. Normal job. I guess it depends how they’ve been brought up.

Who are his parents? A couple of has-beens

Has beens? They are both incredibly successful 😂 she owns one of the biggest cosmetics brands in the world!

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 28/08/2025 06:44

To me it sounds like he’s made a financial choice. The billionaire father-in-law criticised the Beckhams for not financially supporting Brooklyn better and expecting their son to support himself. The FIL has bought their wildly expensive house and finances their lives basically. Who is going to cut off the financial support when you pretty much don’t work ?

TheCurious0range · 28/08/2025 07:02

I think it's astounding to have expensive private education and every opportunity available to you , whatever tuition, coaching, funding you need and to not be able to work hard and make a success of something, anything. Even if you don't have a natural talent, if you knuckled down and worked hard you should come out of that with something. It's also not impossible to have a normal job with famous parents, look at Gordon Ramsey's eldest 2 children. Not interested in fame and have chosen challenging careers in public service (royal marine and police officer)

the3robbers · 28/08/2025 07:08

I don’t know tbh. He was incredibly close to his family and I cant imagine it’s been entirely one sided for him to go no contact with them. He’s been in the public eye since before he was born which was on the Beckhams which can’t be a great way to live for anyone.

i think it’s always easy to blame the woman, Nicola, in these cases but I think there must be a lot going on, on both sides to have got to where they both are.
