To ask if you'll be attending the anti fascism protest on 13 September

I'd like to go in solidarity with like minded people, but worry about it turning violent. I won't be taking my children and will likely be going alone. Lots of people I know detest Tommy Robinson but will stay away due to the likelihood of trouble, but I really want to help send a message that racism and hatred won't win. Is anyone here considering going, or decided to stay away?

I would go but i'm a single mum and cant take dd

I'd go early and speak to similar people, you'll get the gist of who is intent on violence

I would stay close to the adults who have come with banners and drinks and cakes etc x

Thank you. I will plan an escape route as well if things begin to turn nasty.

Amazing of you to go, things are getting so bad, especially with these flags everywhere

The bbc are reporting on farage's 'sending illegal migrants home' plan as though its a possibility he will be in power!!! Terrifying x

Ladamesansmerci · 26/08/2025 20:21

Maybe. I really want to. I don't want to stand for this bullshit. But equally I have a one year old DD and don't want to risk getting injured. Let's face it, are lot of these Tommy Robinson idiots are violent thugs. I obviously won't be bringing my little one.

IamEarthymama · 26/08/2025 20:24

I’m hoping to go but I live with chronic pain and Long Covid so I don’t know if it will be possible.
Huge thanks to everyone who attends xx

MaryGreenhill · 26/08/2025 20:26

No

whiteroseredrose · 26/08/2025 20:37

Who is organising it?

I’ve marched many times over years from Anti Nazi League / Rock Against Racism in the late 70s to Chris Packham’s Walk for Nature last year. The most important thing is proper planning and organisation, otherwise it can end up a scrap.

doubleshotcappuccino · 26/08/2025 20:46

Would be great to go thanks for sharing first I had heard of it never seem to know about these events till after / I need to up my social media game

skippy67 · 26/08/2025 20:55

No. I'd be scared of getting my head kicked in.

tinytemper66 · 26/08/2025 20:56

Live too far away.

nomas · 26/08/2025 20:58

Thanks for the heads up, OP. I’ll take a look to see who is organising it.

DoubleShotEspresso · 26/08/2025 21:02

Staying away, I really feel it would be stupid to give the baying moronic crowds an audience, it just gives them more to share n their mindless twitter feeds.

rockstarshoes · 26/08/2025 21:08

My sister goes to a lot of anti racism marches, I don’t think they have ever got violent - the police keep the 2 sides well apart!

rockstarshoes · 26/08/2025 21:08

And thank you for going! I’m on holiday!

I was about to ask the same thing.

whiteroseredrose · 26/08/2025 21:36

It is unclear who is behind Stand Up To Racism. There is some funding from Unison and Unite. Quite a few anti Reform Party organisations are linked too.

I don’t think this one’s for me.

SocksAndTheCity · 26/08/2025 21:39

I'll be there Smile

Prebendstreet · 26/08/2025 21:30

Apparently people who don't want limitless illegal immigrants pouring into the country are fascists. My husband is going on the protest but to protest against illegal immigration. And it's a peaceful protest so not thugs or violence

JollyUmberDeer · 26/08/2025 21:46

OP, I suspect you know that you’re not protesting against fascists. Because your costume signalling suggests you wouldn’t be brave enough to put your head above the parapet if it was actual fascists.

You know that what you dislike is people who want some controls on immigration and especially illegal immigration. So actually you want to have a day out in celebration of open borders. Why not just say that.

Rightly or wrongly, Reform are well on course to win the next election based on the polls so it’s hardly a surprise it’s getting media coverage.

Worrying times.

The Polls say that it is a strong possibility.

And if you’re terrified, then may I suggest that calling people who worry about such high levels of immigration fascists isn’t going to keep him from power.
