To ask if you'll be attending the anti fascism protest on 13 September

Whatafustercluck · 26/08/2025 18:44

I'd like to go in solidarity with like minded people, but worry about it turning violent. I won't be taking my children and will likely be going alone. Lots of people I know detest Tommy Robinson but will stay away due to the likelihood of trouble, but I really want to help send a message that racism and hatred won't win. Is anyone here considering going, or decided to stay away?

Why can't those who support open borders simply take in one of the hotel residents themselves? Surely that would solve the problem overnight?

Brilliant suggestion !

I’m looking forward to September 13th. Stop illegal immugration and protect our children from further abuse. It is all our jobs to protect the most vulnerable. Great to see all the flags flying far and wide now

There is no such thing as 'illegal immigration', it's not illegal to seek asylum.

And as there isn't a war in France none of those crossing the English Channel need to seek asylum.
France is a safe country (as are many of the countries these economic migrants passed through).

Sorry but I have to say you lot know less than nothing. You come on here spouting your clap trap and don't even know what the march is for or when it is etc. It boils my blood. We are marching against the racist thugs and Tommy and Reform..do you know you don't even sound like 3rd rate politicians. You hear a tiny thing and jump on a shitty band waggon trying to sound all knowing etc and failing miserably, Do you know when and how long the planning has been for the Free Speech Festival ? Do you hell. Let me tell you long before the Antifa idiots thought of it. You jump on the hastily planned against march.. So we all laugh at you marching technically AGAINST free speech..great move! Our Festival is family friendly always .you lot can't go you say cos you can#t take the kids on your peaceful march..again great move! Our festival is open to anyone of any race and colour, they always have been .so who are you fighting for? Cannot be rascism can it? Again blinded by this simple fact, You have no idea all in all what you are talking about. You hear that name ..one name out of hundreds of organizers from charities, from media, from victims of abuse, one name and you all scream to condemn, You go on your march off you pop be proud. And I will march with the very people who are doing it to protect one thing ..YOUR Free speech. The ignorance is outstanding based on one name,,,I would research a little before trying to sound superior . Clueless totally clueless. And we are the gammons..fuck me looks like this fight for free speech should be starting on here never mind the streets of London and many other major cities round the country. The very free speech you lot of geniuses are marching against give me strength. You might want to digest this little bit before you all kick off with me too...You know that long prison sentence Tommy has just done do you know why? Oh yes contempt of court cos he is a racist evil man, a bad man you say..Yes contempt of court because he made a series of films one in particular featuring a young girl who was groomed ,and abused so badly and he released it to show you lot what the reality is for these girls in our country,He didnt shake his head and tut, He and the other contributors, social workers, teachers ,community leaders even made this not for racism reasons for trying to help young rape victims. And he woudn't bury it so pat and keith wouldn't get offended, He sacrificed his own chidren and family to support and draw attention to this horrific issue and he went to jail gladly in order to do it. Still never mind eh not your problem. You really need to see beyond the BBC.

Rightly or wrongly, Reform are well on course to win the next election based on the polls so it’s hardly a surprise it’s getting media coverage.

Worrying times.

After listening to The rest is politics podcast the other day, Rory Stewart and Alistair Campbell were discussing the lack of the centre ground in politics and suggested the Lib Dems could fill this space if they you just get there act together and campaign more directly and seriously with the media. There is definitely a good opportunity for a better third option here.
I won't be marching though, too much of risk of getting embroiled with angry mobs.

Racism , bigotry and hate of the left?!
Topsy turvy world there. The gaslighting of the far right writ large-just take what they are accused of and exactly reverse the accusations onto those who made them. Classic gaslighting.

kistanbul · 27/08/2025 04:31

I hope it’s a big protest. We’ve never been a country that waves flags en mass and celebrates graffiti. We’re marching for our national values. To show that the British are as we’ve always been - kind, fair and calm. Not panicking little flag obsessive driven mad by too much social media.

After a summer of the press predicting riots, all I see are small groups of sad people - I know they say there’s a crowd but four is hardly a riot.

Id like to march to show who we really are as a nation.

Oh god. Wake the fuck up.

xanthomelana · 27/08/2025 04:36

Another waste of police resources. If you think it will be peaceful and effective you are deluded and part of the problem.

Vanishingly few people want "open borders".

Most people would want rejected asylum applicants to be deported.

Few people want high immigration for the sake of it, some are just less bothered by it than others (perhaps because it impacts them less).

However:

  • asylum seekers (the numbers of which we struggle to control) are a very small fraction of total immigration. If we somehow stopped every last one of them, that'd cut our immigration by less than 5%. The primary difficulties in deporting failed asylum seekers are (1) international law, and (2) getting their country of origin to take them back. Reform's plan is to try and incentivize other countries to take them back (what we currently do) and to leave the European Convention of Human Rights and various other international treates.

I would rather not give up my human rights for the sake of letting Farage have a crack at persuading other countries to facilitate deportations. I would also like to avoid the UK becoming an international pariah for reneging on international treaties, particularly if it comes with an economic cost.

  • I would prefer lower net immigration, particularly because using immigration as a stop-gap solution for our low birthrates is unsustainable. The only way we can cut immigration without addressing the fertility crisis is if we massively raise taxes on workers (and have them increase exponentially, year on year) or slash our welfare state - most notably, the state pension will have to go. I very much want someone to solve this issue but, if we proceed straight to cutting immigration, it will be disastrous for all but the wealthiest.

  • Left wing politics - and fairer distribution of wealth - is likely one of necessary components to boosting the birth rate so we don't need so much immigration. It is insufficiently controlled capitalism that has caused this issue - voting to the right will exacerbate the issue, not solve it.

  • I despair at racism and nationalism being weaponized to encourage the working class to vote against their best interests.

The Reform-Right's perception of the left, and what most left wing people want, is untethered from reality. You are being played like absolute fools and, when Reform win, you'll pay the cost.

And, of course, Tommy Robinson is an irredeemable wankstain, and chronic peddler of bullshit.

JollyUmberDeer · 27/08/2025 05:33

Agrumpyknitter · 27/08/2025 00:47

You do realise Farage caused this with Brexit? He lies all the time, the 350 million a week for the NHS didn’t materialise and he’s going to get rid of the NHS.
Getting rid of the NHS will impact everyone, do you have extra money lying around to pay more bills?
Farage voted against legislation to protect women from up skirting, against workers rights and he’s in favour of zero hour contracts. He thinks Andrew Tate has important views and he’s happy to support him. He’s a privately educated banker who couldn’t care less about working class people. He’s the biggest grifter and Reform supporters are as moronic as the Maga ones, as well as the violent Reform supporters having a bigger inclination towards D.V (the stand up guys that they are).
I don’t have an issue with controls on immigration personally but you are wrong to think that it is the major cause of issues in this country.

This kind of moral superiority and name calling is exactly what caused Brexit and will lead to a Reform government. Keep going.

Timeforabitofpeace · 27/08/2025 05:38

You are off your trolley, sadly.

The right insult the left at least as much as the left does the right. The right just play the victim more.

Sorry but this sound exactly like something you copied pasted from a guardian article. At least the so called solutions.

If we need international law to protect our human rights, there is a bigger question to ask about why our own legislation doesn’t protect us. We have a parliament and can legislate to have whatever laws we like to protect our human rights.

We do not incentivize any countries to take back their failed asylum seekers. We give them foreign aid while they refuse to take back their convicted criminals. That is an absolute farce.

Socialism and giving people free money doesn’t boost birth rates. It hasn’t worked anywhere in Europe except some of the pro Natalist policies in Hungary perhaps and they are definitely not socialist. We don’t have a lack of people in the country. We have a lack of people willing to work and too many willing to live for free. So we cannot use immigration as a way to subsidise the native population to be economically unproductive.

How can anyone take that grifter with his past seriously.

Educate yourself indeed.
Of course they won’t be taking anyone in, they aren’t going to put their money where their mouth is.

Jordan Peterson will be one of the speakers at this event for free speech. So is he a 'fascist ' too? My God, you people are brainwashed idiots, and you have no idea what you are protesting against or for...

You haven't fallen for this grifter have you.

BlueJuniper94 · 27/08/2025 06:22

Out of interest - what planning reduces the risk of a scrap?

Sausagenbacon · 27/08/2025 06:33

Keeping different marches well apart.

Which takes a lot of police time.

Tbh I would tell ALL marchers that yes, they could march. But in a football stadium, or an aerodrome. Anywhere we'll away from centres of population.

Or, for more fun, let them all march in the same place and see what happens.

SouthernNorthernLass · 27/08/2025 06:34

No. I can’t stand the Antifa thugs and Socialist Worker lunatics. They’re the same ones who shout at women and threaten us with violence when we meet to discuss our rights. I used to support the Hunt Sabs until I realised many of them were also anti womens rights and like to mask up and yell at us too.

MinnieBaldock · 27/08/2025 06:36

How can you think that this protest won't end up in a big fight. Of course it will. Can't you see people are angry and this protest will just fan the flames. My advice is stay home stay safe.
